Politics / Re: How ‘Soft Landing’ Deal For Yahaya Bello Went Bust At EFCC Car Park by aylipple: 2:59pm On Sep 20
Yahaya Bello, Olukoyede, Ododo, Nzekwe & Ohiare are all mad!

If you thought the public drama was embarrassing & damaging enough, this “The Cable” report quoting “sources” from both camps just shot this madness through the roof!

Any sensible President would’ve immediately fired the EFCC Chairman, the IGP & ordered a combined team of spec ops from the ONSA to fish out the ex-governor with a presidential fiat to shoot-at-sight anyone who stands in their way: meanwhile, the acting IGP who would’ve been appointed immediately after firing Egbetokun would be given a presidential order to withdraw all police details to Ododo with a similar order to the DSS DG to also withdraw their personnel until Yahaya Bello is in cuffs.

Is my imagination running riot or this is too difficult a thing to do by the “almighty” FG?

Politics / Re: Yahaya Bello: Moment EFCC Stormed Kogi Lodge To Whisk Away Ex Governor (Video) by aylipple: 11:18am On Sep 19
The current EFCC Chairman is a coward, fifth columnist, Anarchist, destabilizer, talkative & attention seeker. Man's giving Yahaya Bello, his supporters & detractors alike the canon fodder they need to point out the unprofessionalism in the activities of the EFCC.

For goodness sake, the former governor after months of hiding eventually presented himself to the EFCC and after waiting to be taken into custody or interrogated, he was subjected to neither and he took his leave; what happened to slapping the cuffs on him the moment he stepped on their premises or when he was about leaving? Why wait till middle of the night in a gestapo manner to forcefully abduct a suspect who had already presented himself to you after months of hiding?

If this isn't self-sabotage by the EFCC, I don't know what else to call it.

You just know what a charade this is when you figure that Gov. Ododo who has a compliment of police, DSS, Civil Defense & FRSC on his detail was spotted accompanying the fugitive Yahaya Bello earlier today & they couldn’t effect the warrant of arrest hanging over the former Kogi governor’s head.

Politics / Re: FG Allocates ₦2.8Bn To NICTM To Build Palaces, Police Stations In Edo, Osun by aylipple: 1:19pm On Sep 18
First, this isn’t a new practice: this scam has been going on far back as OBJ’s admin but thanks to open access to Nigeria’s budget & CSOs like BudgIT, Tracka, etc these fraudulent acts are now being exposed.

Secondly, allocated doesn’t necessarily mean release of appropriation but in most cases due to the personalities involved, funding for these ludicrous projects are made available so that the people who “inserted” them in the budget in the first place, can divert the funds.

Thirdly, as far as the National Assembly is made up of crooks, criminals, polithiefcians, treasury looters and no-gooders mostly, we’ll continue to have a repeat of this nonsense every budget cycle.

Lastly, Nigerians must begin to pay more than a passing interest in the budgetary process: Appropriation bill, budget defense by MDAs, Appropriation Act and subsequently follow up with budgetary releases. Most times, we focus on the Presidency forgetting that crimes of monumental proportions are ongoing in the legislative arm (National Assembly in this instance) and in many government houses across the nation.
These guys escape with their loots because we don’t focus so much on them as much as we focus on the Presidency.

You hit the nail on the head. Funny thing is most of these guys now holding one political position or the other grew up around oil palm; they know the economy & huge potentials it holds yet they ignore it.
I sincerely wish Enugu state succeeds on this because if they do, in the next 3-7 years they’ll be cashing out massively from the proceeds of oil palm (CPO, PKO, PKS & its other dérivatives).

IGBOPROMISE1:

This is what i expected a state like Imo to lead on....oil palm production! But alas, they've been governed by a succession of visionless clowns in the last 13+ years....with a brief respite during the few months Ihedioha was on seat! Dr M I Okpara set up huge palm plantations in present day Imo, Rivers and i think Abia states more than 5 decades ago, and you'd have expected that by now this would have been built on and expanded by the present crop of leaders we have!

PDP Governors call Wike all manner of names in the day time then sip champagne 🍾 and laugh over several plates of nkwobi and isi ewu from his kitchen at night.
Among the governors purportedly backing Fubara, how many of them will allow their “puppet” successor to do to them what Fubara did to Wike? How many? They know how these things work and only speak out against the FCT Minister for political expediency and as a face-saving measure.
Now, whatever the agreement is/was between the former Rivers governor and his successor, it shouldn’t trump the interests and/or general well-being of the people.

If this plantation is well managed and necessary funds injected to keep procuring seedlings, inputs and carrying out maintenance when due, generations of Enugu indigenes unborn will thank God Mbah for this move.

The red gold economy is real & the pathway to generational prosperity and wealth creation. Other states in the south (SE, SS & SW) should emulate Enugu on this.

Lol. By the time these guys are done with Nigerians, rice will be the only food available because I don't seem to understand their obsession with rice.
Fuel price is too high
FG: we'll roll out 1m trucks or rice.

Food inflation isn't coming down.
FG: we just need to flood the market with more rice.

Insecurity is worse under this govt.
FG: we'll release 1million MT of rice from the national strategic grain reserves to mitigate impact of insecurity.

More Nigerians have lost purchasing power under this govt than previous ones.
FG: we'll make rice available to Nigerians at 40k/bag using NIN.

A government of rice! No one is thinking outside the box in this admin on how to revive agriculture via policies and actions that empower smallholder farmers, identify areas that have comparative advantages e.g cocoa in s/west, oil palm in s/south & s/east, maize, millet, beans, wheat, pepper, tomatoes, onions etc in the north and empower the locals with subsidised farming inputs, etc

Most of these bandits already know how to push Nigerians’ mumu button & due to the fact that nothing sells/travels faster than bad news, they’ll keep pushing out videos & audios to social media denigrating the army & the C-in-C; if dem born Turji & his likes well, they should stop terrorizing, killing & kidnapping innocent & defenseless Nigerians.
They should instead engage the Nigerian Armed Forces in a guérilla or assymetric warfare (whichever one they prefer) & see what the outcome will be; not scared of dying but you’re in constant hiding only coming out to terrorize defenseless citizens.

Food / Re: These Are Rare Fruits That Are Found In The North And Their Health Benefits by aylipple: 6:46am On Aug 31
Yes, Doruwa! Thank you. And I know giginya as well.
In all, this was a lovely, educative and nostalgic thread.
Uptheante:

The tsamiya is sour & it is used in making kunu n shinkafa ( kunu made with rice)
The one that is long in a pod that you lick & throw the seed is called doruwa.
Yes you are right, dawa dawa ( right Hausa pronunciation is daddawa) is made from it

There's one other fruit called giginya. This one is from a tree that grows as tall as palm trees.
The fruit itself is reddish in colour & juicy & has a sweet unique flavour. The size of this fruit is as bigger than a coconut. The seed is hard
Normally, after sucking the juicy flesh (which is fibrous) , the hard seed is buried.
After about 1 year, the seed which has already germinated, is digged up & the root sapling ( or whatever agriculturalists call it, because I don't know the right English name for it), is washed & boiled & eaten as 'muruci'.
The muruci (muruchi if you are pronouncing it)
Is tender & fibrous....
You often see Hausa girls hawking it in trays in the north.
I don't know if you are also familiar with all these. grin

Goruba, I meant to type. Every fruit you mentioned in the video, I’ve eaten. The other ones you mentioned below, I may not be familiar with their local names but I’m sure I’ve had a taste of at one time or the other.

For instance, there’s tsamiya (tamarind), there’s this other one that’s in like a long pod, brownish that you lick & throw away the seed or soak in water from which (if I recall correctly now) dawa dawa is made? Can’t remember the exact local name now.

And so on and so forth.

Uptheante:

It's Goruba not goruwa
Have you ever eaten other rare northern fruits like:
adua,
kadanya,
dinya,
jinin kafiri
atule,
kokon biri?
Do you know kuka? I mean the white one that is grounded into powder & sugar is added to it to make it neutralize it's sourness.
This kuka I'm talking about is not the green one that Hausa pple cook as miyan kuka ooh.

If you really stayed in the north & You mingled & fraternized with them without showing disdain for their foods, you would probably know most of these fruits I mentioned.

There are other unique northern delicacies like: fura da nono, masa, awara, dakuwa, alewa, alakakabo, hanjin ligidi, gurasa, etc.....

Kobojunkieee:
According to the Police, these were allegations made against PIDOM. None of these allegations had been proven as of Saturday, August 24th, 2024, when Police Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, came out and said and I quote, "There are several allegations leveled against the suspect, including unlawful possession, leakages of classified documents, cyber-related offenses, and others. We will do due diligence in carrying out a thorough investigation into the cases. The force will leave no stone unturned to continually enforce the law and bequeath to Nigerians a more secure nation." PIDOM has been held in police custody, illegally mind you, since he is not even meant to have been arrested on mere allegations according to the Nigerian Police Act 2020 Sections 31 & Section 32(1). undecided

3. If you had some sense in you, you would learn your Laws and your rights because one day, it might be your turn to face these same bullies whom you sic on PIDOM. And when it comes your time to face them, there might be no mercy left to be had undecided

First, you didn’t have to be rude. Secondly, it takes one without “some sense” to actually recognize another one without sense in them. Thirdly, I don’t leak classified documents so there won’t be a time for me to “face them”. Fourthly, the police can arrest based on “mere allegations”, that’s why when one is arrested, they’re brought in for questioning based on the allegations for which they were arrested in the first place and if there’s no substance to the allegation, they’re released otherwise, they’re further held until arraigned in court and this is a standard practice.
Lastly, if there’s anything David Hundeyin’s exposè proved is that Isaac Bristol, who the police currently have in custody, is actually PIDOM, so save your tears for the 👨‍⚖️ and yes, feel free to continue your rants under my response which is the last you’ll get from me.

Lol. You call leaking sensitive documents with grave national security implications as “investigative journalism”?

Anyways, the so-called investigative journalist didn’t “disappear” as the black-dress wearing 2nd runner-up claimed; he has been confirmed to be held in detention by the NPF-NCCC & at the end of investigations, he’ll be charged to court accordingly where his cheerleaders can either help in hiring a team of lawyers for him or contributing to his bail.

Until then, Bristol Isaac’s journey to jail has only just begun and for the next 2yrs & 9months of PBAT’s administration at the least, he won’t be tasting freedom!
