AnnieOakley: In a primary school, 70% of the boys and 55% of the girls can ride a bicycle. If a boy and a girl are chosen at random, what is the probability that:
(a) both of them can ride a bicycle [Is it 70/100 * 55/100 or 70/200 * 55/199 or neither?]
(b) neither of them can ride a bicycle [Is it 30/100 * 45/100 or 1 - p(both can ride a bicycle)?]
(c) if 150 boys are selected randomly in the school, what is the probability that they can ride a bicycle? [I did 70/100 * 150 = 105. p(both can ride = 105/150 = 7/10). Is it correct? . a.)it has to be 0.7 * 0.55..i.e p(the boy can ride AND the girl can also ride. b.)it has to be 0.3*0.45 cos you cant just say 1-p(both can ride) considering a possibility of either of them and not both of them will be able to ride...i.e 0.7*0.55(both can ride) + 0.7*0.45(only boy can ride) + 0.3*0.55(only girl can ride) + 0.3*0.45(none can ride) = 1 c.) this one ehn....i'll just do (0.7)^150. Ciaoo!!! |

Asymptote: -6x/[√(1/4 (-3×3√5 + 3(1+√5))^2 -36)]
+ 3/[√(1/4(-3+3√5 +3(1+√5))^2 -36)] +3
The other asymptote is the conjugate of this. ...i thought assymptote is simply +/-(b/a)??. |

1: How many different three digit numbers can be formed using the integers occurs twice in a number? not clear ??
2: A cyclist rode for 30 min at xkm/h and due to a breakdown he had to push the bike for 2hrs at X -5km/hr. if the total distance covered is less than 60km, what is the range of values of X a) x< 14 b) x< 20 c) x< 29 d) x< 28
first change time T=30mins to hrs => 30/60 = 0.5hrs distance = velocity * time first distance = x*0.5=0.5x 2nd distance=(x-5)*2=2x-10 since total distance<60 0.5x + (2x-10) <60 2.5x<70 x<28. mathefaro: Nice one. I think we really need to analyse the level if questions that will be treated so as to know the category of participants. For instance, if the participants will include jambites/freshers, it might be unfair to them if 300/400 level questions for math students are used. I could remember miss Jackpot's wicked questions for the last edition(lol). So topics and questions should be selected based on general knowledge and basic mathematics. My own opinion though. yeah, quite thoughtful... And Don't mind that jackpot, and we told her,she will still be laughing it off,she be like lecturers that are happy when students fail their course. |

Loool....sister please,English is quite different and so silly,i so hate that language..*spits*.the fact that it doesn't have a stable pattern alone makes it even more silly....knowledge is correct but priviledge is wrong??..i mean what's that??... You're a graduate of it as you say na,i don't need to give more examples of the idiotic language we have chosen as our lingua franca... Check poilsh, italian and some others, these languages abide with one pattern and makes it even easier to learn. As for me o,i've given up on Englist tail tail.. #OkBye. |

hmm.....so dissapointed seeing the so called graduates still don't know even after they graduated that one can actually live a balanced social and academic life....shebi the guy even finished with 2'1 and not first class??.. ... .... Not even close to being a graduate yet and i'm fortunate to know these things already.. The problem comes in when you don't know how to balance both and academics keeps suffering or probably you've always been an average student(which of course it's not a stigma). Sincerely, when you start learning to balance both at first, your academics tend to suffer a little, but when you get things right, trust me,you have no problem. .. I guess you all that still think it's impossible need to be constantly reminded that fingers are not equal. .. #OkBye |

please stop assuming CHM11 is lying or from a very easy to pass department,i'm not saying it's true too though, but because you can't balance your social and academics life doesn't mean others can't do it too......well,truthfully,if he's saying the truth,he might as well have finished with a first class if he didnt do the partying and socialising ish |
