Hello all. Does anyone know a fashion school in Lagos where I can train? Suited for people who have regular jobs during the week but want to learn fashion designing at the weekend. |
My LG DVD Receiver HT503 is faulty. All speakers are still working. Can anyone help me with a new receiver or is it possible that newer LG receivers can work on this setup? Can an ordinary LG DVD player work with the speakers? |
no mention of Luno? |

Bubbles123:I don't know o but perhaps we can find someone to tell us more here. Financial assistance though appears to be quite different from discounts/package |
Hello house. I'm grateful for the gift of this forum. I have consulted nairaland at almost every point of my adult life since 2007 - from the time I came fresh out of school, then NYSC, job, relationship, visa interview, and now birthing in the US. In the course of this journey, I have made interesting friends from here, and received countless invaluable contributions from guys here. So here is the full account of the missionary journey of my DW. She flew Qatar Airways at 34w4d to Atlanta in July. The journey was long. The layover was about 9 hours and Qatar pulled an unfortunately ugly card. We had arranged their complimentary hotel from Lagos (they call it STPC) and on the morning of the flight, we got the printed voucher. She got to Qatar and she was told her the airport hotel was full. They gave her a city hotel but Qatar Immigrations would not allow her in. It was later I learnt that Qatar immigrations won't allow entry to people flying for medical purposes/pregnancy. Fast forward to Atlanta airport, no fireworks. The CBP asked her what she was there for and she told them to have her baby. Dazol! The man then told her to always carry her receipts. Not one document asked or presented. Hospital: Emory Midtown (Dr Tates) I'll skip the details that most of us know but I believe some other info here may help mamas contemplating Atlanta and Emory. We paid for CS and epidural, about $6,525 and Dr Tate's $1,500. On the first appointment, he recommended a test that cost about $100 or so at another location due to the peculiarity of her pregnancy. Dr Tate said she'd need to be induced. She was induced at Emory on Saturday afternoon. All this time I was afraid of the bills that would be slammed at us as we seem to have clearly gone out of the provisions of the package by the induction - but DW's health was paramount to me. But, God, being so good, she pushed without epidural on Sunday afternoon and was discharged on Tuesday. That's about 3 days in the hospital. Then the big bills came. About 3 weeks later, the adjusted zero balance statement came in. To cut it short, our prepaid money covered for the induction and the 4 days stay in the hospital (that was amazing). Since it was VD, we got a refund of the exact difference. Epidural refund was to come a month after the delivery. Because we paid with a USD card (GTB), refund was easy and straight. We didn't open any account in America. Emory's in-house paed, Child Healthcare of Atlanta, CHOA charged five hundred plus for 'professional' fees the first time with a discount of 40% if payment is made 30 days after receipt of the bill. About a month and half later, the same CHOA sent another bill of 283 for the '2nd physician'. DW argued and shouted and told them she cannot pay after already getting a zero balance from the same CHOA. They offered the 40% discount but DW asked for a 70% discount! They accepted and we paid. We also engaged an external paed after delivery, Kidcare,..cost $140 on first visit, and $90 for the second visit. SSN came in by mail about a week after delivery. DW waited for me to arrive before we picked up the BC and the other documentation (that was about 1 month after delivery). We got the Nigerian passport after 3 visits to the Consulate at Roswell. $77 fee, $30 for the business centre that we paid through, and $65 for money order to expedite it. If you are in Atlanta, you can PM me to give you tips because expediting is not really an option for all. You must have proof that you are travelling in a few days time. Got the passport one week after. US passport was expedited ($165 I think, not sure now) and collected same day, in fact in 3 hours sef. Infant ticket was bought over the phone at $150 or so. Special thanks to God and all the contributors on this forum especially cfcchick, Eilenora, reniduke. I am available to assist expectant Emory mamas. God bless you all. |
Hi Dhollargurl Have you applied for and received your baby's Nig passport? How did you go about it? How 'seamless' was the process? Dhollargurl: |
Update: the $2k refund came in yesterday. Epidural refund, they said, can not be made until after about 30 days after the delivery. Got the 0 balance for mama and baby last week. Hoping they won't remember any new bill and send long after we've left like in reniduke s case Ayokunle07: |
debby516:The bills are still being sorted at the moment so I can't give a comprehensive amount so far but we paid the CS money and epidural, about $6,525 and Dr Tate's $1,500. He recommended a test that cost about $100 at another location. Dr Tate said she'd need to be induced, and induced she was. Delivery day, she pushed wthout epidural so we're going to get a refund. Emory's in-house paed, Child Healthcare of Atlanta, CHOA charged five hundred plus for 'professional' fees but was renegotiated to three hundred plus dollars. We also engaged a paed after delivery, Kidcare,..cost $140 on first visit, and $90 for second visit. That's as much info as I have now. When I meet with DW, I'll share more. |
Oluwakorede5:I'm wondering if I can add two packs of tetmosol soap to my bags. Oh, and I'm not a mama |
reniduke:lol. Is this your first bill from CHOA? My wife just delivered earlier in the month and CHOA sent us 5hundred plus, though we negotiated to 3 hundred plus if we pay within 30 days. As per Emory, was it after you got your zero balance that they sent these new ones again? Make Emory give themselves brain o cc: cfcchick |
MEDIF form is specific to Qatar. I think Emirates too has a form but I doubt if you need that kind of document for BA other than a doctor's fit to fly. You can call them up sha and thoroughly check their website for info on expecting moms. michnib: |
Congratulations! Can you help us with the cost breakdown for Piedmont? Dhollargurl: |
For their flight to ATL, layover is about 9 hrs. You must submit the MEDIF and med clearance forms not later then 72 hrs before the trip. Make sure it's approved before you show up at the airport to travel. Arrange your accommodation at Doha (like 3 days before your trip) by calling their office 012798888. Not every ticket is eligible for this though. urblackpearl: |
Good people of NL My DW flew Qatar Airways at 34w4d and arrived Atlanta yesterday. The journey was long. The layover was about 9 hours and Qatar pulled an unfortunately ugly card. We had arranged their complimentary hotel from Lagos (they call it STPC, I have no idea what it means) and on the morning of the flight, we got the printed voucher. Only for her to get to Doha and they told her there was no more space in the hotel. She had to wait at the airport all through the night, not minding that she is a pregnant woman o. It was in the morning she was told to go sit at the Priority area. She said they gave them food though. Fast forward to ATL, no fireworks. The CBP just asked her what she was there for and she told them to have her baby. Dazol! The man then told her to always carry her receipts. Not one document asked. I will update the house when the rest of the missionary journey is complete. |
Hi reniduke How did you sort your paed after childbirth? Did you pre-arrange with any paediatrician or you used Emory's? How much were you billed for it? I'd appreciate any input from any Emory Midtown mamas. cc. cfcchick reniduke: |
I want to add names to the list and I want you to give me the meanings. Sewande Sedoten Sesi Mawutin Mauyon Semawon Viyon Miyonse. Thanks. My dad is Egun but I no hear jack. absoluteSuccess: |
I guess I thought you were the author quoted here. So sorry. Oakbend16: |
Thank you Reniduke. Since hubby was not there, did they ask for any consent letter by the hubby from you? Did you go with any documentation? If you submitted any letter, is it possible to show me what it looks like? Thanks a lot. reniduke: |
Hi PrinceAdeAde DW is going to ATL. You said a friend got the Nigerian passport in 3 days at $165. Was her hubby with her or she had to use a letter of consent? If she did, can you please help me ask her how she went about the letter and if she had it notarized? Thank you. PrinceAdeAde: |
Hi nene76, cfcchick. My DW is July bound too to ATL/Emory. I'll pm you guys. nene76: |
All set for the mission. DW and I just paid for tickets on Friday (Qatar at roughly N1m for 2 tickets. Not an easy somtin) She would like to know if there are any August Atlanta mamas in the house...just to share info et al. Send me a PM |
You didn't PM me. It's not allowed to drop those kind of contact's here. PM me and I'll give you the relevant numbers. temmymt: |
No more Atlanta/Emory ni? temmymt: |
Hi Reniduke Have you found a doctor? Someone posted that she used one Dr Elizabeth Collins. You can take it up from there. I'm also still searching for a doctor whose office isn't too far from my host's. Let me know when you get one. reniduke: |
Yup! The bank has made a commission so the government gas take it's own cut. VAT is expected and normal in this circumstance. jesufifunmi: |
Please all the ATL people. DW is also going to ATL in July. Please pass the ticket gist to me, if you find any or is there any inner circle to join? AJokeol: |
