His story runs like a novel;
shocking and unbelievable. But it
is real and never imagined.
Winner of the maiden edition of
Destiny Child Gospel reality TV
show, Israel Osunsanmi recently
came to term with the saying that
blood is thicker than water.
This is so, because on a day the
world gathered to celebrate him
as the star winner of the gospel
reality show, the unexpected
happened. Young Israel had a
cause to meet his biological
father for the first time in his
lifetime while on stage.
Until the grand finale of the reality show, 30 year-old Israel has never had any contact with his father. But on that fateful day, the man who sent his mother packing while she was two months pregnant
suddenly emerged to share in his joy.
Narrating his ordeal to Showtime,
Israel, an OND Business
Administration graduate of the
Osun State Polytechnic, declared
that he has since forgiven his
father, even though his mother’s
ordeal really affected his growing
up. “I have forgiven him and the
relationship is gradually picking
up,” he said.
According to him, his ordeal
started when his father
impregnated his mother’s best
friend a month before their
wedding. His mother’s attempt to
confront his father got her a knock
on the head, as the latter
consequently threw her with her
two-months pregnancy out of his
house in order to marry her
friend.
Israel disclosed that if not for
God’s mercies, he wouldn’t have
made it to this world as his mum
attempted about 10 times to
abort the pregnancy but without
any success.
He narrates, “I will be 30 this
month. I’m from a polygamous
family, and I’m the only child of
my mother. I took to gospel music
because of my story. My life is a
big story. My dad sent my mother
packing when she was 2-months
pregnant. That was when my
struggles started in life. It was
myself and my mum alone in the
world. But I’m alive today. That
alone gave me the inspiration that
it was God that kept me alive.
And it is God, I must live without
blemish, and if I do anything
wrong, God is going to take away
this life that he has given to me.
That’s why I can’t do anything
without God. And this is why many
people today call me ‘ Church Boy’
because I’m always spending my
time in the Church. There was a
time, I wanted to go astray, when
I was singing in clubs, and other
hangouts, but God in his infinite
mercies redirected my steps.”
Narrating how he was able to
reunite with his father. he
disclosed that one of his father’s
sisters made it possible. “We got
hooked up on facebook early last
year. In the cause of our
discussion, I invited her to the
grand finale of the show.
Fortunately, she decided to
attend the event in the company
of his father. She was trying to
connect with the Osunsanmis
online.
She saw my telephone number
and immediately gave me a call.
That was how we started getting
closer. When it was a week to the
finals of the reality show, I invited
her to represent my family. But
she told me she was going to
attend the event in the company
of my father. I welcomed the
idea. That was it. The mistake I
made was telling the producer
that my dad was around and that,
I was meeting him for the first
time in my life. Overwhelmed by
that news, the Producer invited
him on stage and the reunion was
a memorable experience.”
Israel, who won N3 million star
prize, including a brand new
Hyundai car said, he would
forever remain grateful to God for
this turn around in his life. “My
mother is based in Ilorin and could
not make to the grand finale of
the show,” he said.
Now married, Israel will be 30
next month. Before he
participated in the competition,
he was the Head, Directorate of
Media and Logistics, at TREM in
Abuja.
The show producer, Mrs. Uche
Esharetury disclosed, she was
inspired to do this project because
of her passion for gospel music.
“Looking at the Nigerian music
industry, we realise most of these
artistes discovered their talent
from the church, participating in
choirs and others right from their
youth. They were certified as
gifted musicians, but the absence
of potential sponsorship deprived
them opportunities in gospel
music.Hence, the subscription to
secular music which attracts
sponsorship based on its so-cietal
acceptance”, Esharetury said.

Thuram blended to make a new European
powerhouse in football. They would go
onto beat Italy in the European
Championships in 2000, only Spain have
managed such a feat since.

9. Real Madrid 2003
This Real Madrid side is one of four teams
in this list that didn’t actually win
anything. It is a controversial decision and
perhaps an unconventional decision but
the likes of David Beckham, Roberto
Carlos, Zinedine Zidane, Raul, Iker
Casillas, Luis Figo and Ronaldo make for
one of the best designed teams of all
time and definitely for the best designed
teams not to win anything. Steve
McManaman played there for a bit too.

8. Hungary 1954
Hungary humbled England at Wembley,
becoming the first international side
outside of the United Kingdom to beat
them in the capital, winning 6-3 and then
went onto thrash them 7-1 in Budapest.
They were largely tipped to win the 1954
World Cup as they had remained
unbeaten for the previous 32 matches in
the run-up to the tournament. Ferenc
Puskas featured in the 8-3 thrashing of
West Germany, whom they would meet
in the final but suffered an ankle injury.
Without him they beat the two sides who
contested the previous World Cup final –
Brazil and Uruguay. Puskas would score in
the final but Germany overturned a two-
goal deficit to win the match, as
underdogs. They still hold the record for
the number of goals scored at a finals
which is 27.

7. Arsenal 2004
Any team to go the whole season
unbeaten in the best league in the world
deserves to be in this list and that’s
exactly what Arsenal achieved. The likes
of Henry, Ljungberg and Pires were the
trio striking fear into English hearts and
with all three in their prime, they enjoyed
49 matches unbeaten in the Premier
League, before having it ended at Old
Trafford in 2004.

6. Brazil 1982
The team that Brazil possessed were
impressing everyone and some were
predicting a return to the glory days of
their wins in 1958, 1962 and 1970. They
wouldn’t add a fourth World Cup in 1982
despite being one of the favourites at the
tournament and with the likes of Zico,
Socrates and Falcao they crashed out at
the second round where they lost to
eventual winners Italy thanks to a Paolo
Rossi hat-trick.

5. Holland 1970’s
How Holland didn’t win a World Cup in
the 1970’s, nobody will know. The brand
of total football that the likes of Johan
Cruyff brought to the world seemed like
the perfect brand to play. They reached
two successive finals only to lose to the
respective host nations in Argentina and
West Germany.

4. Barcelona 2010’s
Barcelona, especially under the guidance
of Pep Guardiola, have shone thanks to
Lionel Messi who recently picked up a
third Ballon d’Or, making the Argentine
the third person to achieve such a feat.
The likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, David
Villa, Gerard Pique and Victor Valdes have
all hit their peak almost coincidentally the
same time and with an illustrious youth
system, Barcelona aren’t about to go
anywhere, especially after achieving a six
trophy haul in 2009.

3. Liverpool 1980’s
We all know that the likes of Bob Paisley
and Bill Shankly led Liverpool to their
brightest days yet. Bob Paisley almost
took a clean sweep of the trophies,
gaining three European cups along with
six league titles in his nine-year spell.
Before you knew it the likes of Alan
Hansen, Mark Lawrenson, John Barnes, Jan
Molby, Bruce Grobbelar, Ian Rush and
John Aldridge were blossoming into true
greats of the game and they soon
scooped another European Cup in 1984
and the lost the following year to
Juventus in the infamous Heysel Stadium
disaster. All in all, a truly astounding
team.

2. Manchester United 1999
Whilst the Liverpool side of the 1980’s
were the first team to achieve the
unconventional treble, Ferguson’s 1999
side pipped Arsenal to the Premier
League by a point before defeating
Newcastle United and Bayern Munich, all
within ten days of each other to cap off a
glorious treble. Ferguson received a
knighthood all down to the midfield which
turned the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul
Scholes, David Beckham and Roy Keane
into household names. If Yorke and Cole’s
partnership up front wasn’t good enough,
their replacements in Sheringham and
Solskjaer’s late goals in the Champions
League final sunk Bayern Munich to
complete the treble.

1. Brazil 1970
This team won pretty much the lot –
three World Cup’s to their name and
arguably the best player to ever live in
Pele guided them from the age of 17 to
his dwindling days, thrashing Italy in the
1970 final which featured that Carlos
Alberto goal to cap off a perfect
tournament and final for the Brazilians.
Many a great Brazilian team has been
manufactured but none like Pele, Rivelino
and Jairzinho who all scored in the 4-1
drubbing of Italy.

Just when we thought there would be a reunion on stage between MayD and Psquare,it is clear that won`t be happening anytime soon.

MayD was billed to perform alongside Psquare and Akon at the Calabar festival. His name was on the list.And true to their words, MayD arrived at Calabar airport on the same flight with Psquare.

We smelt trouble when he looked alone and didn't walk with them. They rode in separate cars and he was lodged in a separate hotel from them.
So, the show started and we saw J martins had replaced Mayd and people were asking questions about his whereabouts.

When we sought to find out why Mayd would come all the way to Calabar and not perform, our first source said "He wasnt paid his balance and decided to pull out".

The Police in Lagos on
Monday arrested a Facebook lover
for defrauding his lover of
N200,000.
The Police said in Lagos that the
suspect posed as a medical doctor
to enable him swindle his
unsuspected facebook girl- friend.
The suspect claimed he would use
the amount to secure a job for her
with the Nigerian Customs
Service.
Parading the suspect (names
withheld), the Police
spokesperson, Lagos state Police
Command, Ms Ngozi Briaide, said
the accused was arrested and
charged to court about three years
ago for a similar offence.
Ngozi stated that the police could
not immediately explain how he
was freed in court without being
convicted, noting that the suspect
had become a serial fraudster who
was in the habit of defrauding
young girls.
According to her, the 36-year- old
suspect was arrested after one
out of the latest five victims
complained to the Police on Nov.
15, adding that the suspect was
thereafter arrested on Dec. 23 by
detectives from Ogudu Division.
The spokesperson alleged that the
first victim, Mrs Adebiyi Adenike, a
graduate became his friend on
Facebook after being attracted by
the suspect as a Surgeon.
”He requested for the sum of
N200,000 as PR and with her
original certificate to enable him
secure employment for her into
the Customs and that he had a
slot at the service,” she said.
Ngozi stated that both the suspect
and the victim met and set out for
the journey to Abuja, but along
the way to Air Port, the suspect
pretended as if his vehicle had
fault and asked her to come down
and push the car. ”
As soon as the victim pushed the
car, he zoomed off with the
victim’s credentials, ATM and
PHCN cards,” she said. Ngozi gave
the names of other victims
defrauded by the suspect as Miss
Okunola Folashade, Miss Ibrahim
Bukola and Miss Adefemi Mercy.
She said that they were all NYSC
members who were defrauded by
the same suspect on their way to
Ibadan for community
assignment.
The spokesperson alleged that
they boarded his car to Ibadan on
Dec. 20, but on getting to the
Tollgate, the suspected diverted to
the old Lagos/Ibadan road where
he pretended as if the car
developed fault and asked them
to push thereafter he zoomed off
with all their belongings.
Ngozi said that the items stolen
from the victims included a
Laptop, unspecified cash,
certificates, ATM card, Toaster
Machine, cell phones and clothes.
The fifth victim, Miss Akinbo
Atinuke, also boarded the
suspect’s vehicle at Berger on
Dec. 11, on her way to Ibadan,
where the accused branched to a
filling station and pretended the
car could not start again, adding
that the victim also pushed the car
and he zoomed off.
The spokesperson said that the
victim also lost her Laptop, Phone,
SSCE Certficate, ATM card, NYSC
discharged certificate, the sum of
N104,000 which she withdrew
from a bank with her ATM card.
Ngozi said that the suspect would
be charged to court since all the
witnesses were available with
some exhibits, adding that the
suspect has also made
confessional statement.
