At the end of the day, it all boils down to the kind of person who will use the phone. An everyday user with enough cash will be satisfied with the iphone because of the sexy design, ease of use and access to a great number of apps. While such a user may consider an android device, he may shun it because of the complexity or lack of public acceptance. IT nerds and tech heads on the other hand will most likely be biased according to factor like their level of technical know how and also the first smartphone such pple buy is usually the brand that they stick with for the long run. Some nerds prefer symbian because of easy multi tasking without hacking and familiarity, they dont care about apple's easy to use idevices and android's os freedom. Some prefer android because of the openess and wide level of customization, symbian is too out dated for them and idevices are to restricting. And some like the iDevices for their large app catalog and focus on one device, for them android is too fragmented and symbian, a relic of the past. For the fanboys of other minor OS platforms (samsung, sony ericsson and lg), they dont care about pros and cons, their love is blind and unconditional.
As for me, i tend to drift between android and symbian but i am waiting for windows phone 7 to debut and by the end of the year, there will only be one platform at the top of the heap.

looks like this blackberry craze is all smoke and no fire. I'm sure more than half of the people carrying the thing around have problems but are too proud to complain about the mediocre services. Even the various network customer care personnel are not helping matters at all, they are just as confused as everyone else. If i was considering buying a bb and i just read this thread, i would have changed my mind before reaching the end.

I can see pple are speaking my kind of grammar here. Out of about 17 hrs i spend awake in a day, 13 are spent on my phones (E63 and 5130XM)browsing, music, chat, email, reading, calls, texts, taking notes, gaming and lots more. The only things i do on my lappie these days are movies and hardcore gaming. Even watching series is done on my mobile after transcoding. I think very soon pple will stop carrying laptops about and move on to smartphones cos they are getting more powerful, look at the htc evo 4G or the dell streak for crying out loud. Even nokia n900!

Mehn! See setup! First, everytime i try to dload 10.04 it doesn't work(i'm guessing bandwidth issues) no matter which location i choose, second i have no space on my 320gb lappie to even install or my 240gb external hdd to backup so right now i'm watching movies/series, playing games and deleting at a furious rate to free up space thirdly i can't even order a cd as i have exceeded my limit. I'm so screwed. Can anyone who has already dloaded it nipost it to me abeg, i'm currently in enugu right now. I've been anticipating this release since late last year

I understand what you're saying, BB now is more a status symbol than a feature perfect phone and i really dont have a problem with that, you should try explaining your point to those "blackberry fans" who don't even know the limit of their phone's abilities and come here mouthin off like the hold the future in their hands. They should just accept that they have blackberries because its what everyone else is using not because of its features

U know what I think, some well informed people with reliable facts from all sides of the smartphone market should come together on a thread and present logical arguments about why they think their smartphone platform is better than the rest because all the ignorant points being made by some people on this thread is enough to drive a person crazy. I'm not hating on blackberry, i'm just saying that for everything there is on it that makes its fans feel so superior, there are at least 20 more on symbian and a 100 more on the iphone. And they will be cheaper. So go ahead BB fans, mention a feature and if I don't mention at least five better alternatives on another platform, someone else more knowledgeable will.

I wish I could boast of my library but my lappie is not with me right now. But give me a week or two and i will be uploading some stuff. Mostly Sci-fi and Fantasy.

BTW a recommended read for any fan of fantasy fiction: Wheel of Time books 1 - 12(still ongoing). The pages are many but worth the read

Also Stephen King fans Should look out for The Dark Tower 1 - 7. the best he has ever written in my opinion.
