Good day everyone

Please house , my birds are having watering eyes this days, I believe it's corrizer and I had removed the white something inside but yet situation remain the same , I had tried all I know but seems I cannot help it in need help, and do not want to get the drugs ,want to restrict my practice to organic .

Pls, I need urgent help before situation is out of control
To cure coryza organically, press out the mucus & inject lime juice into the flesh of the head. Also, give them to drink. It will go away gradually.

Always isolate any sick bird.

Maintain good hygiene always

Hi everyone
It's been a while
How are ya chickens doing
Mine are doing fine and eating much
4 hens laying presently
One just hatched 3 babies out of 13 eggs angry

I do give them house fly larva sometimes cool
They all liked it
Rat reduced but you still see them running around
Hard to get rid creatures grin
Thanks for breaking the silence
What are you feeding them with if I may ask
Mine are free range. I feed them with kitchen waste
I'm dealing with cat or dog at night
So now I make sure they all sleep in the cage

I wonder why you have unhatched eggs. Check if the eggs are still fertile, if they are, add it to the nest of the laying ones

Just an experiment oo
Not a standard incubator

I got a larger carton, put an indomie carton in it, cutting open one side.
I line the bottom of the indomie carton with a towel.
Put a lantern on the opposite side facing the side I cut opened
I placed the thermometer/hygrometer on the towel to measure the temp and humidity, that was like a day before placing the eggs
I had small water in a plactic placed beside the lantern
I regulated the lantern till I got the ideal temperature 100.5 but it fluctuates a lot even after been stable for a long time so putting an eye on it is a must
Turned eggs three time a day
Raised humidity to 60% on the 18th day, though it has always fluctuated between 48 and 52%
Ibhad a hard time raising it but I did it and to my surprise the eggs pipped on the 19th and hatched on the 20th

Will build a better one in the future by God's grace
I have forced air incubator in mind.
Can you please do this on YouTube for as to get a better view or you download to your Google drive

Hello beautiful people
I'm sad for not discovering this lovely thread as at the time I started my local hen farming

And I'm so happy, I discover this thread when I'm starting to see this hobby as a business.
I sincerely appreciate every beautiful minds here, i had thought I'm the only person on earth seeing a vision in the local hen farming
Not knowing I'm just a learner. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge without holding back anything

My journey
I bought my first hen at the market (24th August 2019)at #800
It laid 12eggs(oct)and hatched 10(nov)

I kept the mother and chick in the cage and gave broiler starter. At wk2, I noticed dropping feathers and stunted growth. I gave them herbal medication, it wasn't working

I let down out of the cage to scavenge in order to self medicate. No improvement .the mother was always coming home to ask for broiler starter
Eventually, I lost 6
The surviving 4 are 3 females and a male

After 6 months (July 2020).the mother and 2 daughters collectively hatched 13 chick's. I lost all to this same strange disease and they also had coryza and pox. The mothers are having fighting for custody of the chicks

I've sold 4 chicken to the market women

I will try the neem and aloe gel extract, i pray it will help combat this strange disease. I always have this outbreak each time I cage them

Im very happy to be here. Next, I'm going to buy 1 female noiler and 1 Fulani breed

I will do as you've advised.
Thank you.
Please don't be discouraged,
Is the room mosquitoes free
Are they pouring water on the litter
Are they pecking very day
Give them fresh garlic, ginger and tumeric extract in the morning . Don't let the mixture stay longer than 24hrs. Then give water when they finish it. Finally efirin(basil) extract add cayenne pepper (ata gigun) in the evening. Ensure it doesn't exceed 24hrs. Follow this for 3days, light consistency not too thick
The fresher the better
AgricultureRe: My Race To Poultry (broiler) Rearing as a beginner by Azarina: 2:21am On Jun 16, 2020
Nice one op
Reduce the heat gradually as you can see they are growing more hair and feathers
I hope you have a scale to measure their weight every week, hope you have a feeding timetable too
Cleanliness is very key, once your bio security is tight, you are good
Make sure you join poultry platform on social media
Study your market and put more effort into marketing than farming, yes this is the whole essence
This is will crown your efforts to the end

Don't overdrug them, it slows their growth and affect their immune system
Observe them when you enter the pen, after serving them and stay with them for 20 to 30mins before leaving
Feed them at ad libitum but as they grow bigger avoid feeding them during hot hours
Read more poultry articles
Give it all your best to succeed, you can't afford to fail and I pray you don't fail
Always update us
Good luck
AgricultureRe: Hatchery Business by Azarina: 1:18am On Jun 16, 2020
Every bird has parent stocks. I will tell you the two ways of getting broiler breeders. I will tell you the scientific way and the quacks way. The scientific way is to buy parent stock from a primary breeder (like Obasanjo hatchery) as day old. Growing is typically a two-stage process. One, a starter brooder house or farm for the day old chicks till 18weeks.The male is seperated from the female and reared in different houses. Two, broiler breeder laying house. By 19 weeks, the birds will be moved into the specialized building. It is a deep litter system. Males and female are raised together. The birds are not generally caged, especially since the roosters must mate with the hens to fertilize the eggs. Nests are provided for laying hens. Laying will commence between 24-26weeks. Weight of birds are strictly monitored because over far hen Will be a poor egg producer. When the rooster mates with the hen, sperm enter the hen's oviduct and are stored within sperm storage glands. The sperm can remain viable for up to 3 weeks. However, a hen will have maximum fertility for only about 3 to 4 days after one mating. Therefore, the male-to-female ratio in a flock must be enough to ensure mating of every hen every 3 days or so. To maintain fertility, younger roosters may be introduced as the flock ages. The eggs are taken to hatchery. The rest is history. Note; these eggs is not meant for human consumption. The quacks methods; they will just pick very good male and female broiler from their flocks, start feeding them specially. No monitoring of anything. Egg performance is somewhat poor. I just wrap it up, it is more than this. If you want to be selling broiler day old chicks, sure, you need broiler breeders.

Do you have prior experience about poultry
They are various niche in poultry, why have you chosen hatchery
How do you integrate your staff if you are a newbie like them

Nothing is impossible, im not discouraging you but your idea is huge and needs serious survey.
Why not start with the frozen chicken business, you rear and process
One step at a time

AgricultureRe: @-{-{--AGRIC Empowerment For ONE Blessed Winner - {Application CLOSED} by Azarina: 9:23am On Apr 21, 2020
I will also like to suggest that the materials to be given to the winner should be delivered 7 to 8 weeks to Christmas/next year festival to ensure the success of the empowerment programme

Secondly, subsequent empowerment programme should target brooding for festive season since birds is easily sold then

Here's a little tweak if your passport isn't showing on your application slip.. (Chrome browser)

Click on "Generate application slip"

Once it loads, go to options on your chrome browser and then select "Desktop site"

Your application slip with your passport in it will appear.

You can of course screenshot it then and print later
