You graduate with 2.20 and you will be telling yourself. If it was to be Faculty of art.. I would have been a 3.20 graduate by now. 3. If you think true love is the only thing that is hard to find...try looking for your HOD when you need his signature on a form. 3.In uniben you don't need to go far for anything...right in your hostel you have an electrician, painter, carpenter, plumber (even a drug dealer). 4.uniben guys can configure free browsing on small Nokia torchlight phone. Written by Kayode Solarin The event concerning the Nigeria 2016 budget and its discrepancies has crowded the internet space in the past few weeks. Nigerians both locally and in diaspora have been throwing in questions especially aiming at this President Buhari’s Administration on why such shocking revelations have been made concerning the Nigeria 2016 Budget. With the way and manner this administration has preached Change, the talks on fighting corruption and leading a corrupt free administration, one can only stop to wonder why then do we have such embarrassing revelations in the Nigeria 2016 Budget which clearly depicts hidden acts of corruption and deceit. How such an "incompetent" document passed the muster of presidential scrutiny and snaked its way to the National Assembly, remains befuddling. How can this administration be expected to be taken very seriously, when its budget for the Ministry of Defence is greater by far than the budget of the Ministry of Science and Technology given Nigeria’s current circumstance? One particular example being that the MOD’s budget for procuring sporting equipment for the Army, exceeds the budget for the same item for the entire federal ministry of Sports and Youth development, the Defence ministry depends on importation of Arms and military equipment, now we ask: where is the defence money going? Before now, they had been speculations that the Executive had a hand in the Senate President’s trial but now with the discoveries made by the National Assembly and the verdict of the Supreme Court concerning Saraki’s trial, Stella Oduah and Andy Uba’s court cases, one can then say the National Assembly is being blackmailed by the Executive to go easy with the Nigeria 2016 Budget; thereby hindering the discovery of other discrepancies in the Budget. Is the Executive trying to scare other Legislatures by dragging their colleagues to court? How long can the fate of Nigerians continue to be toyed with? Going down memory lane, we can recall that this administration never supported the present Speaker of House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki. Could it be possible that this discoveries made in the 2016 Budget wouldn’t have been if they, the Executive had gotten their way in positioning people of their choice in those key positions? The National Assembly needs to be commended for spotting and bringing to light the gross errors of Nigeria’s 2016 Federal budget. And the Executives should kindly let the Legislature do its work, if not for anything, for the sake and love of country. - Kayode Solarin is a concerned Nigerian, he writes from Lagos. |

A 25-year-old man, Mfreke Effiong, from Ikot Akpainyang Asutan
village, in Ibesikpo/Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom
State, has allegedly killed his father, Mr. Archibong Effiong.
It was learnt that Archibong and his wife had a disagreement
over certain issues when Mfreke who was away in the farm

The Chairman of Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) in Plateau,
Mr John Dasar, has cautioned its members to ensure strict bio-
security measures to avert another outbreak of bird flu.
Dasar said in an interview in Jos on Saturday that the warning
became necessary as investigations showed that the disease
had resurfaced in Kano and some states in the South West.
He called on the farmers to adopt stringent bio-security
measures to forestall the outbreak of the disease.
“Bird flu is one of the fastest spreading diseases in Nigeria. This
is because poultry products are being moved from one point to
another and from state to state.
“The last time the disease began in Lagos around Jan. 8, 2015
and by Jan. 18 of that same year, it was already recorded in
Plateau, meaning that within the span of just 10 days, it had
reached our domain.
“Reports have it that the disease has shown its ugly head in
Kano and some states in the South West, so the need for our
farmers to be reminded to take their bio-security more
seriously,” he said. |

A middle-aged man, identified as Papa Ogada, has dumped his 14-
year-old son in a well, accusing him of being behind his inability to
make progress in life.
We gathered that Ogada, a coffin maker, who hails from Oberete village
in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, had been
complaining that his son was a wizard, who had caused him serial
misfortunes since reuniting with him, after leaving his mother’s place.
A source said:
“The truth is that the man has been separated from the boy’s
mother. Since the boy came back from his mother’s place where
he lived, the man has been accusing him of being a wizard.
“He once told us that he had consulted many spiritualists, who told
him that his son is a wizard and is behind the problems he has had
in his business.“We are not surprised that he went this far.”
It was learned that Ogada contacted one of his friends, who helped
him tie up the boy with his school uniform, books and other
property and drove off at about 9p.m. to neighbouring Abiaka
village, where they dumped him in an abandoned well.
According to a resident of Abiaka village, who was part of rescue
efforts,
“some of us had already retired for the day when we started
hearing shouts and cries coming from the location of the
abandoned well, but we thought people were fighting.“As the
shouts increased, we summoned courage and got to the area and
discovered that it was coming from the abandoned well. We got a
rope and bucket, threw them inside and the boy managed to cling
to and was pulled out.
“He was already weak with injuries. We thanked God the well had
been out of use; he might not have survived.”
At press time, the boy was said to be receiving medical attention at
an undisclosed hospital, while his father’s whereabouts is
unknown. |

Dear ladies, resorting to self-help as a way to control your husband in
marriage is a recipe for disaster. Don't wait to experience the pains that come
with trying to be 'too wise' in marriage. Be a good wife:
Brought to you by Aunty Florence
1). Never raise your voice to your husband. Its a sign of disrespect.
2). Don't expose your husband's weaknesses to your family and friends. You
are each other's keeper.
3). Never use attitudes to communicate to your hubby, he may interpret them
differently.
4). Never compare your husband to other men, you've no idea what is coming
in the near future.
5). Never ill treat your husband's friends because you don't like them, the
person who's supposed to get rid of them is your husband.
6). Never forget that your husband married you, not your maid or anyone else.
7). Never assign anyone to give attention to your husband, people may do
everything else but your husband is your own responsibility.
. Never blame your husband if he comes back home without money. Rather
encourage him.
9). Never be a wasting wife, your husband's sweat is too precious to be
wasted.
10). Never pretend to be sick for the purpose of denying your husband sex
11). Never compare your husband to your one time sex mate in the bedroom.
12). Let him handle what is directed to him although he may answer for you
in public opinion polls.
13). Never shout or challenge your husband in front of children or visitors.
14). Don't forget to check the smartness of your husband before he checks
out.
15). Never allow your friends to be too close to your husband.
16). Never be in a hurry in the bathroom and on the dressing table. On the
streets your husband is always surrounded by women who took their time on
their looks.
17). Your parents or family or friends do not have the final say in your
marriage. Don't deceive yourself by looking up to them for a final word.
18). Never base your love solely on money. Plan with him, show sincerity and
enjoy with him.
19). Don't forget that husbands want attention and good listeners, never be
too busy for him.
20). If your idea worked better than his, never compare yourself to him. Its
always teamwork.
21). Don't be too judgemental to your husband.
22). A lazy wife is a careless wife. She doesn't even know that her body
needs a bath.
23). Does your husband like some special food? You are is wife, try to learn
and cook such for him.
24). Never be too confrontational with your husband, enjoy every moment in
peace.
25). Make a glass of water the very first welcome to your husband and
everyone entering your home. Sweetness of attitude is true beauty for a real
wife.
26). Don't associate with women who have a wrong mental attitude about
marriage.
27). Your marriage is as valuable to you as the value that you give it.
Recklessness is unacceptable.
28). Fruit of the womb is a blessing from the Lord, love your children and
teach them sincerity.
29). You are never too busy to influence your home. Never reduce care for
your hubby for any reason.
30). A prayerful wife is a better equipped wife, pray always for your husband
and family

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved amnesty for the Boko Haram terrorist group, a top presidential source who spoke to BREAKING TIMES on condition of anonymity disclosed on Thursday. According to the source, President Buhari has concluded plans on the amnesty grant for Boko Haram and the official announcement is expected shortly after discussions between government negotiators and Boko Haram terrorists have reached a fairly advanced stage. “I can authoritatively tell you that the issue has gone beyond a plan, President Buhari has concluded on the issue, granted approvals and it will be announced soon,” the source said. Contrary to earlier reports, which suggested that the Nigerian government is open to negotiations with Boko Haram alongside considerations of amnesty in a deal expected to put an end to the mass killings of innocent Nigerian citizens by the dreaded terrorist group, our source hinted that the idea of amnesty is not one Boko Haram has accepted. “President Buhari is actually acting proactively by offering amnesty to them in the hope of sealing a ceasefire deal with the terrorists. From all indications, Boko Haram has not agreed to lay down their arms for amnesty. But this new offer by President Buhari is expected to soften the terms of negotiation with them”, the source disclosed. Recently, President Muhammadu Buhari declared that he is ready to negotiate with the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists, according to his spokesperson, Femi Adesina. Adesina disclosed this in an interview with BBC Africa. He said if Boko Haram members are willing, the president will negotiate with them. However, this seems to be against the earlier stance of Buhari who during his campaign, promised not to negotiate with the insurgents if elected as president. “Boko Haram is not interested in peace – if they are interested in peace, how can they kill 13,000 Nigerians?” the former military ruler told BBC News in February. As news of presidential amnesty for Boko Haram filters from the Presidential villa, it is not immediately clear why President Buhari has adopted the carrot approach to dealing with the Boko Haram menace. “There must be a strategy behind it that we may not know about. You know the President is a retired military general and just returned from a trip to the US where he had discussions with President Obama on this Boko Haram issue. We can only watch events unfold within the next few days”, a security source told BREAKING TIMES. In 2013 as leader of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Buhari backed amnesty for Boko Haram. According to him; “Yes, it is good they have set up a committee and I haven’t seen the terms of reference, but it is the right thing to do. This is not the first time amnesty will be given to … eh.. what shall I call them, a violent group; remember what happened with Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua and the militants. So, this is not the first time. Whatever that will bring peace to the society, we should do it.” Boko Haram killed more than 13,000 civilians between 2009 and 2015, including around 10,000 in 2014, in attacks occurring mainly in northeast Nigeria. Upwards of 1.5 million people have been displaced in the streaks of their wanton bloodshed and violence. Source: Premium Times |
