[quote author=customstreet post=122686365]Let me join discussion on Transcorp of Tony Elumelu and OTEDOLA. It is my believe that OTEDOLA would not have entered Transcorp without the knowledge of Elumelu. There are many illegal ways of legally manipulating stock price. Alas! This is one of them.

We should not be deceived by these two capitalists, they actually knows what they are doing. I want to believe that it was common agreement to move the stock price that will not attract attention by one individual from regulator and with that OTEDOLA was drafted in. The question we need to ask ourself is that does Transcorp performance justify the current price or whatever price they are taking it to?

I am just happy for the free riders who have waited for so long holding this stock from N7+ down to less than N1. Just take a look at the following manipulation between

1. Forte Oil~ OTEDOLA v Dangote- illegal manipulation

2. Transcorp~ Otedola v Elumelu- illegal ‘legal’ manipulation

I pray that this new trick of raising stock price will bring out the real value in Transcorp in the near term

My opinion though

Have you consider to evaluate all the Power assets in Transcorp compare with that in Geregu? And also the present price of both in relations to the assets

It is good you know the needs to invest at your early age. But i will advise to focus more on your education in school now rather than going into full time trading.
At your stage, it will be difficult to combine schooling and making money together. And its good u plan entrying university and finish with good grades
However, if you have little money that you don't need now, rather than its been in the bank with little yield, i will advice you can put it in Nigeria stock, which has high dividend yield

It important to note, not to be in hurry in life, life is a step by step. When you start working fully, you can now think of stock trading and investment. Please avoid chasing two things at a time now

At 17, you are already well above your peers. If you start now and stay the course, your money will grow by compounding and you will be financially independent before you know it.

Start small and limit speculative trades. I would've suggest you avoided speculative trades completely but the truth is, at your age, even if you lose money in risky trades, you have your whole life ahead of you to make up for it. So what will I suggest, 90% of your portfolio should be in high growth stocks but in diversified sectors. The remaining 10% can be invested in micro caps, disruptor stocks(marijuana, biotech, 5G etc) and crypto.

Read books about investing, so many people have made suggestions on this thread. Visit investopedia, yahoo finance and cnbc. Keep conservative expectations, don't expect to get rich quick, this way you wouldn't be so disappointed if you lose money. At your age, I was a complete game freak, but I have no complaint, I used to make high scores and thrash my friends, you will need to have the same passion for investing in stocks. You will need to live and breath this stuff. When you have a crazy impulsive idea, first test it out on a demo account and learn from the experience.

I hope one day you look back to where your journey started and smile at your investment portfolio. Good luck.

I have heard about chaka, but since you are in Abu Dhabi, you can try using interactive broker or ameritrade, they are US stock trading company. I don't think they charge per trade anymore but all Nigeria based US stock trading firm charge in percentage of the trade made. Note, this firm doesn't accept Nigeria but since you reside in Abu Dhabi, and you work there, they will accept your request

Good afternoon guys. Am sorry I don't know the right forum to ask this;
I partially earn my income in foreign currency and am also partially based in naija.. I have been investing on NTB and MMF for 2 years +. But the inflation is killing the vibes. Am wondering if it's possible to invest in a foreign currency dominated investment or even US stocks..

I came across one Chaka investment app in ios, where you can buy US stocks and sell even though the platform is controlled by Nigeria stockbrokers. How authentic is this platform? Thanks

You can get a broker here in Nigeria and also abroad. But since you partial stay in naija and elsewhere . It will be wise for you to get a broker, if its abroad you also stay ,there charges are very cheap there. Where do you partially reside in abroad?

Even my chesapeak I bought 0.17 gained 95 percent before closing of market and my portfolio I started with 500 dollar now worth 1600 dollar. If you can play a waiting game you will gain from the penny stock but don't use money you can't afford to lose

Alll said and good, the risk you are taken are very high. From experience what you are doing is buying company marked to go bankrupt without notification and als reverse split xan happen with out notify. If you are lucky doing this tske your loot now and dont try it again

I placed some trades on Friday through Morgan Capital and they were definitely executed - some were at Mkt prices. I'm checking my account now and they are not reflecting.
I've sent them an email but curious if any other person has the same issue.
Thank you.
