TheHistorian: UTME "English Language, Biology, Economics or Government and any other Social Sciences subject or Science." O'LEVEL "5 ‘O’ level subjects at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ level subjects at 2 sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology and two other Social Sciences or Science subjects."
*Long Sigh.
Her Subject combination does not in anyway tally with that of Psychology. It's an utter misfit/error.
To further worsen the scenario,it's a wrong subject combination taken in UTME.Truth is,Before our conversation,UI(department of Psychology) has noticed this defect and must have evicted her name and details from the merit list despite beating the cut off.
Also,UI's COC is not meant for candidates who sat for a wrong subject combination or whatever defects in their grades,It is solely meant for those candidates who fall short of their aspiring course' cut off mark in salvaging a (perceived low and less lucrative) course via supplementary list. Therefore,I doubt if her application for COC whenever it gets announced can help rescue her situation.
MY SINCERE ADVICE Your sister should just pray and hope the department of Psychology will out of goodwill and magnanimity transfer her to other departments her subject combination befits.
Mehn...I'm just short of words English and any other 3 subjects from social science and science http://ui.edu.ng/news/important-notice-prospective-students-ui-20172018-admission |

pryme: And you IPOBs think a boycott will give you referendum? When we keep telling you guys that you are not smart at all you think we are hating your low mentality.
Even if Buhari was to have a change of heart overnight, and start singing the song of Biafra and he starts shouting "Biafra or Death", he will not give you referendum, He doesn't have such powers, Even if he orders it,
You Ppl are here in Nigeria you have all witness the tussle between the Executive and the Legislative when it comes to one the most important things in the country [The Budget ] Buhari has to wait for the approval from the Senate before doing anything.
So is it referendum that will be any different?
You shout and curse Buhari, abuse the Army, you guys don't say a single word about the Ppl that holds the Fate of your referendum in their hands - The Senate.
As long as you guys have not included the Senate in the equation, you guys are nothing but comedians
You IPOBs keep exposing your short sightedness to the whole world.
My advise to you guys is find or hire someone that is vested with the knowledge of these things to tow your course, stop disgracing yourselves in the public with trying to use street IQ to handle National matters Just leave them bro 10 years to this time the would realise the Consequence of their actions either positive or negative |

Abidx22: Thanks for the response, but in conventional admission processes, there is always room for Merit List, Catchment Areas, and Locality. So, it's either one scale through via any of the three platforms. And I thought I saw something related to this sometimes ago when the VC said 40% of applicants will be admitted based on merit while 30% or so will be considered from ELDS and the remaining will be for Catchment Areas and Locality and not forgetting that all states of the federation are Catchment Areas of the Institution. Ui doesn't use catchment area |

smartograpy: Bro look well the cut off marks makes no sense How can the cut off mark of law that is highly competitive be 70.38 and English education that is poorly chosen be 68? it has never happen. the margin is too small I understand you bro your score is 66.375 and English edu is 68 it doesn't favour you, I deduce you are just going through denial You should try changing course when UI allows it bro! If you are from ELDS you are lucky, but from my deduction I guess you are from Oyo state. Just change your course and hope for divine intervention |

Bajoagbo: UI VC reveals the number of students to be admitted, gives breakdown of Post-UTME results The Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka on Monday made it known that only 3,500 students out of over 60,000 candidates that picked the university in the last UTME will be admitted. He said that out of this figure, 20,949 sat for the recently conducted Post UTME. Olayinka, however maintained that 9,266 applicants out of the 20,949 candidates who sat for its Post UTME scored 50 percent and above. The Vice Chancellor made these declarations while speaking at a media chat held at the university’s community radio, Diamond FM, Ibadan. He said that, though the university was given opportunity to admit about 7,000, but it would only admit few undergraduates due to its resolve to expand admission spaces for post-graduate students. Olayinka, while declaring that the university has not fixed its cut off marks, maintained that the 200 benchmark set as criteria for students to attend the Post UTME was done in order to set standard. He said “I don’t even know what the cut off mark will be, the committee will meet and decide. Our motive is to improve the quality. “About 60,000 candidates picked UI, 20,949 sat for the Post UTME, 9,266 scored 50 and above (which represents about 44.2 percent) in the examination. “In this figure, we have more female than male this year, that means male need to be empowered. The highest score was 86 percent. “We have to consider merit which is 45 percent, locality which is 30 percent, all the states of the federation is catchment area of UI, then ELDS. “UI, UNILAG, Benin, Ife and UNN is using 200. I think we should set a standard, in UK, students don’t repeat class, they know that all of them are not university materials. Some will go to university while some will go to vocational schools. “The summary of it is that we have about 153 universities, 42 federal and 42 states because some states now have 2 state universities especially Ondo and Ogun states. So Federal universities are over subscribed while the private universities are under subscribed,” he added. “What will make us double our efforts, so we will need more staff and if you proliferate it, then the standard will be low. Olayinka however noted that despite the fact that many undergraduates in Nigeria are regarded as half baked, University of Ibadan graduates are still the best. He said the university in its efforts at making sure parents monitor the academic performance of their wards, the university is making efforts at putting the results of all students on its website so as to ensure that they monitor their wards. He said “We have to put on the website the results of the students to be view by their parents. Oyo has the largest number of students in UI, followed by Osun and is logical. “UI is the most competitive, we can only admit at most 3,500. I must also said that we are allowed to admit about 7,000. We have about 7,300 bed spaces. Another reason why we are admitting less undergraduates is because we want to expand post-graduates “We have about 27,000 students, the rate is 16.5 whereas in Harvard it is about 5.1. Olayinka then used the medium to congratulate the radio station on its 9th anniversary. No source And it's never possible for UI to admit 7k students a session |
