Cow skin was not considered to be food by the Igbos until fairly recently. It's no surprise that there's no popular word in it Igbo language for cow skin.
To this day, it's not as popular a delicacy in the east as it is in the West.
you're so ignorant that I don't even know how to correct you. Go to the nothern side if Nigeria, check who patronized them most when it comes to cow skin... it has variety if names in igbo e.g kanda, tinko, kpomo... to burst your brain, whenever you check beer parlours owned by yorubas for cow tail peppersoup, will you get cow tail there?

That's not the case for beer parlours or bars ownef by igbos, but you typed that igbos don't consume it

Brainless, borrowing is revolutionary in all advanced languages like Yoruba. Even English borrow from French with renaissance, restaurant,....also from German Italian Arabic etc as influence of people they trade and do other business with.
slowpoke, nobody is arguing that... the argument is that you guys fail to agree that you also borrowed words rather you claim others borrowed from you

Stop beating around the bush of Igborance pls.

Is Kpomo an igbo word?

Say yes and let me know how much of a “cultural vulture” you are.
I think you should answer that question yourself because you are the one that claimed it is a Yoruba word?
Culture › Re: Red Ibo In Jamaica: A Profile Of The Igbo People Of Jamaica by BabaIbo: 12:27pm On Jan 22, 2018

Spelling is not the crux of the matter but pronunciation.

Nothing like Kpomo spelling in Igbo form, because the word isn’t even Igbo to begin with.
Argue with your sense na,

tell me any yoruba word that has kp in it please but I will tell yiu Igbo words with kp e.g okpa and so... that should tell you something or send a signal to you

See this one, no one is arguing the presense of some Arabic and Hausa words in Yoruba due to centuries of contact.. We all know what words in Yoruba are of Hausa origin via Nupe and others.

Besides there are Hausa words of Yoruba origin as well, such as Ashishi (Eshinshin) Housefly, Agwaluma (Agbalumo) African star apple, Alade (Elede) Pig Etc. There is many more.

So Yoruba and Hausa borrowing goes both ways.

The bone of contention here are YORUBA authentic words that have diffused into languages like Igbo which they now claim today lole AKARA, EGUSI, etc.

Very soon Igbos will claim Kpomo, Gele and Ogede.

Just watch.
you're confused, yorubas pronounced kpomo as ponmo, don't say what you don't know... you are so pathetic, gele yoruba word for scarf, scarf has been with man from time immemorial, every region has their own word got scarf.. so don't claim it as a yoruba word pls

Igbos call Egusi melon. Go and ask your elders. No one is arguing Ogiri. It’s not a Yoruba food item. However, Egusi is. It’s not Egwusi either, that will make it the Igbo pronounciation, like how Moin Moin has been bastardized to mai mai.
Argue with fact and not as a pained tribalist
for your info Yoruba borrowed more words from other major tribes than they borrow from yoruba due to shortage in their letters( e.g letter C)
words that yorubas borrowed are: Alubosa, originally alibasa in hausa, ireke(sugarcane originally reike in hausa (sugarcane), rodo(a specie of pepper) is originally a hausa word, egusi, akara and others

Nothing like EGWusi, it is Egusi, and it is it of Yoruba origin.

Igbos are the ones who add GW to words that have vowels following G.

The same way Igbos pronounce the Hausa word for Kolanut “Goro” as GWORO

Akara, moin moin and egusi are Yoruba. There are also Yoruba settlements in Jamaica
Go back to school, egwusi/egusi and ogiri are exclusively igbo words borrowed by yorubas

IamaNigerianGuy:
Many wrong responses here all predicated on you selling your dignity because the economic situation in the country is bad.

A job is an agreement to trade your skills and time for emolument. If you are working free then you don't have a job.
The probationary period is to allow for time to prove that there is a fit between you and the company without legally committing either party. It does not include working for free.

Any good manager should know that an entry level staffer will need funds and should be supported as much as possible. That is why big companies grant clothing, housing, transport and other allowances. Not all companies are equally buoyant but that should not be used as an excuse for maltreating staff.
The issue here as I see it, is not allowances, but that they are not even prepared to pay you a salary.

Based on my personal experience in, and observation of the Nigerian work space, I can assure you that any organization that can ask this of you, will unpleasantly surprise you in the future. In fact, I can guarantee it.

Go back to the MD or HR. Explain to him that your financial situation will not permit you to work for free. Gauge his / her response. It will give you a guide as to what to expect from the company.

In the final analysis, it's your decision whether to accept or reject the 'offer'. Perhaps there are peculiar advantages to be gained or skills to be acquired from this arrangement. If so, you can bend the arrangement to work to your advantage.

Good luck.
wow, Thanks and God bless Bro... I will do just that,
There is this African adage that says person wey dey ask question no dey miss road... nice one

Employers in this country are just using the helpless situation of lack of employment to frustrate job seekers. No doubt that most structured organisations has a policy of probation period but salary should be fully paid or a reasonable amount and not allowance. I am not surprised at the comments here because Nigeria graduates has been dealt with in terms of job that many are ready to take anything.
Please ask questions on their pay package, staff welfare and other working conditions before taking up the offer. Some yeye organisations after the 3 months cheap labour probation period will cook up stories and kick you out claiming you did not perform.
Thank you for this words, I will do that when I resume
