@Lastpage.....if the importers don't do such, no one will buy them. I have been to China and I know for a fact that when you walk into a factory and request to buy goods, the first question they ask you before they quote price is " which standard?". There is American Standard, European Standard, Gulf Countries Standard and African Standard and even within the Africa, there is South African Standard, North African Standard, Normal African Standard and Nigerian Standard. The prices of all this standard varies even though they all look the same. The standard organization of all countries set the quality of the standard for every product imported into their countries. Ours in Nigeria may never take sample of products to test them to ascertain if the quality is okay. They are more inclined towards kickbacks. |
@Fastshipping.....have you asked yourself how tiles claimed to be made in Spain and exported to Nigeria will be cheaper than in Spain. It defies any law of economics except something is fishy somewhere. You cant buy tiles for €10 and then export it to Nigeria and then sell it for €6 except you are not actually buying it from Spain. They are not the same tiles and you are not saving any money, you are spending money to buy something that looks like what you saw abroad. Anyway, I know you know the truth. |
That's why I believe atimes it's better to bring your tiles from abroad to cast away any form of doubt in the quality of what you are buying especially if it's for personal use. So many Spanish tiles of the same product and manufacturer are cheaper in Nigeria than in Spain so it brings the question, which is original which is fake? |
@Demainman1....Good review for brabus with a much needed advice for him by EgunMogaji. I hope he is back to winning ways and we won't need to revisit episodes of bitter customers. He sure has a way with contemporary design and build. Waiting for the completion of ongoing contemporary project...winning ways all the way, I hope. No one wants to part with hard earned money on a project and yet, have bitter after taste. |
@EgunMogaji @brabus @ Fastshipping....I think crown moulding and dry wall contributed alot to the beauty of the houses in that picture. Where can one get wooden crown moulding in Nigeria? |
@FastShipping....it doesn't deny the fact that it is simply and contemporary. We all see over design of P.O.P atimes in Nigeria to the extent that some people think, if the design is not complicated it won't be properly appreciated. @EgunMogaji......that's what I am talking about. Simple and Classy not designs like star or moon etc. THESE ARE EASIER TO MAINTAIN IN MY OWN PERSPECTIVE. |
SOMETIMES, CLASSY IS NOT ABOUT PLENTY P.O.P DESIGNS
|
@brabus.....we are waiting for the information you want to share.
|
@brabus.....ride on. No knowledge is lost. |
I have noticed that most builds in Lagos island nowadays don't incorporate the water tank into the structure but have chosen to build metal frames for the water tanks. This practice doesn't seem to be a trend in some other states. Does anyone know why? |
@brabus.....are you saying you pay more attention to quality when it comes to your own house as compared to your clients? I can't but notice what you said about the pillar holding your gate. |
@abdulwastecx. .....whats delaying the publication of the results? What is the root cause of vertical cracks and what is the root cause of horizontal cracks? Professionals and builders on this thread, anyone care to enlighten us? No knowledge is lost. |
Why do you ask questions you already know the answers? |
This picture showing that much water on the plot nearby makes one to think about how much sand has gone into that place to make it look like dry land |
I believe every man should do everything humanly possible in his power to protect his family and his property. |
Can this ARMOSEAL be used for roof terrace to prevent water seaping into the floor below? If yes, can tiles be laid on it after using it? |
@FastShipping......it's a wow effect for anyone coming to the house. It's like living in a boutique hotel. @brabus.....lets see how your ongoing project will turn out because you seem to always have something to say about everything |
@FastShipping .....this Nicon town house on houzz is really exquisite. Alot of attention was paid to details and did you notice it doesn't have buglary proof? |
@n3xt. ..am waiting to see the picx then |
I considered it for a while but I realized that most western countries where open plan is adopted, they don't really spend so much time in the kitchen and they are in the habit of ordering food. On average it takes westerners less than 30minutes for them to make a meal. They don't cook the things we cook neither do they follow the same cooking process like heating of palm oil or pounding yam etc. I also noticed that Indians who spend so much time in the kitchen like us don't favour open plan kitchen. We have different processes of cooking which must be factored in to make the house conformable for the residents. If you are considering extractor, what if there is no light. It can work for short lets. |
Location in Abeokuta? |
Abiola way is along stretch of road up to Ojere....which area along the road precisely |
What's the secret? Do you think your price won't be competitive with market rate? What's your phobia? |
@ Empiree.....I am thinking about you standing in front of the mirror and seeing your hypothetical friend. You seem to have so much detailed information about this event like you are talking about yourself as a third party. I doubt if anyone is learning anything from the story but rather making an input out of boredom or approach to pity. As for me, I think this will make a good script for a home video but I doubt if their isn't any movie like this in the market. Anyway, I still believe this belongs in the Family section but in all reality, it's keeping this thread active since no new construction idea or comment to deliberate for a few days now. |
@Empiree.....this is fast becoming a soap opera that belongs in the Family section. This thread is for Off-topic Thread - To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Constructions. I keep asking myself how this relates to the title of this thread except I am looking at it from a different perspective, even though I stand to be corrected. I don't see how anyone here can help you in this matter neither do I see how you can also help in the matter. |
.....tell me. Maybe you guys should paste map of lagos island on this thread so we can all learn with a table of travel distance between location NOBODY HAS THE MONOPOLY OF WISDOM |
@brabus...thanks for the correction. I used the word THINK though. Achieving an outlook like the picture you pasted of a house in Nigeria is still very OK for any contemporary house lover. |
@agarawu.....picx below is what i THINK 3.8m marble flooring should look like. Even though I choose not to doubt what happens to people in diaspora, building houses back home. Note the way I wrote think in capital letters.
