@AZUH...Don't tow this line. You are well loved on this thread and your sense of humour brings smiles to our faces. Babalose |
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY Babalose

Keep up the good work. This is astonishingly exquisite. I am very impressed and I will surely patronize you, if you are affordable. Babalose |
To all the pros in the house.....Due to the waterlogged nature of the Lekki axis and the constant annual flooding that occurs in this terrain, do you think having a swimming pool in the house is a good idea, if it is, what type of swimming pool will be ideal for a waterlogged land? What's the best way to construct it so as to avoid it succumbing to flood? What are the best ways to prevent it sinking due to the weight of the water in the pool? Cc...abdulwastecx, aventures, brabus, joepoolwave, segcymoor, Skimanski, Spyder880, rotech77 and all other builders that might have skipped my mind. Babalose |
@Brabus.....this openable buglary proof is a compulsion in every home. I believe that atleast one or two must be openable in a home and it must be easy to open by anyone in the house not like the types that have padlock. The sliding buglary doesn't look appealing to me too. That's why I am fascinated with this thread because of the wealth of information that flows through often. Keep the ideas flowing. Babalose |
@Brabus.....it's called making a statement. Buildings can beautify an environment and it can be vice versa but when the former prevails, it inspires people. That's the kind of structure that brings smile to people's face, they brighten any ones day. Imagine the joy the owner feels when it can have that much effect on people passing bye or going into the building Babalose |
@Skimanski....cladding doesn't means it will look like an office. Offices in Nigeria embrace it more so most people think, it's only offices that use it. I am anti recurrent expenses. I actually intend using it for a contemporary house not a modern house. I also believe you are one of the few people who can pull it off and still make it look like a house, so your insight on the subject is very important to me. I am happy you mentioned wood, I actually heard that well seasoned wood is hard to see in Nigeria, anyway you know better. Won't like to use wood and then it gets spoilt with the seasons. If I am wrong, I will like to be pointed in the right direction. Babalose |
@Brabus. ....DOES IT RUST? |
@Brabus....what you are doing is not what I am talking about but it won't hurt to see the final outcome of what you are doing. I am talking of cladding on brick. Does it rust? Anything that will rust eventually is a big NO for me. Babalose |
@Skimanski.....cladding on brick. Babalose |
@Skimanski.....what's your take on full house cladding? If anyone can do it and get it right, its you because you are a perfectionist. Your opinion is well reverend in my book. Babalose |
@EgunMogaji.....kindly post pictures after the aluminum cladding is done. I like full house exterior cladding as well that is light weight not like marble or stones. I am still looking for a design done locally in Nigeria that will enthusiastically astonish my mind. I believe it's a good material to use for those developing project on the island that contend with water (Correct me if I am wrong, over to all the pros in the house to see how it can be achieved). I like the job done at the Yoruba tennis club in Ikoyi, thanks to DominionNg for sharing the picx. It looks like light weight material. Below are examples of picx I like there cladding Babalose

Bringing to light the issues of a contractor is meant for enlightenment on the part of clients/potential clients and it's for the accused to make amends. Life is a continuous learning process. It is always good to have an insight into the track record of every contractor especially for someone in the diaspora and be able to view the contractors professional progress over time. A contractor can be famous and another infamous, it's upto the contractor to choose which path to follow. Nevertheless, the ills of one's past doesn't dictate the future of a man except a man that fails to heed to correction. Babalose |
@DominionNG.....nice one. That's what I am talking about, complete house exterior cladding. It makes the house unique, atleast in Nigeria. |
@Brabus.....is it a crime to want that? After all, money speaking Babalose |
Really, Hs.......ker. We are getting the direction to the person little by little. I don't want to share the name of the infamous roofer as well. I have to respect the wishes of FastShipping.ANYWAY....STILL NEED IDEAS ON THE PROS AND CONS OF FULL HOUSE EXTERIOR CLADDING Babalose |
@Brabus. ....so whats the advice for those that fall into that category Babalose |
@segzy14.....a Toyota Tundra or Hummer H2T will do likewise. That's why it's imperative for anyone who is financially bouyant and is living on the island to have a truck or a proper SUV not those fancy crossovers. Babalose |
@brabus.....even if the foundation is 2m high and everything around is submerged, isn't that an island? The occupant will have to keep inflated boat in the store. I remember I once told you I will have an inflated boat in my house Babalose |
@Hajj M....Your hint clears a lot of doubts and speculations. It has also made it a short list. Thanks for the headsup Babalose |
@Fastshipping....how does your conscience allow you to sleep at night when you can't mention the persons name? Have you ever asked yourself....maybe if someone had mentioned the name of the guy, you wont have been a victim? If you justify your silence by saying you warn people, what of those that copy his number and call him? |
@Fastshipping....what if someone you don't know contacts him. I believe in calling a spade a spade. We can only help others not to be a victim by speaking out. Some of us have gotten our fingers burnt by Brabus because someone refused to speak out even though we are now trying to manage the situation but the time lost can never be regained. We can't continue to keep quiet while new people get burnt. A time will come if no one speak out that the whole forum will be labeled as place to solicit vulnerable clients(mugus) Babalose |
@brag3.....you got a good laugh out of me. We tend to lack maintenance culture but most of those house you are talkng about, the actual owners are either late or has become very old or due to lack of inflow. Children always tend to care less about maintaining their fathers house except there is an upcoming family event like wedding, remembrance, birthday, burial or anything that will gather people to the house and they don't want people to behold the eyesore. Many of us are guilty of that as well. How many people repainted there dad's house in the last 5 years purely out of maintainance without ulterior motive? Babalose |
@brag3....do you then believe, cladding is better than painting? Babalose |
@Lastpage....Even when we are allowed to freestyle in Nigeria with our building design, I rarely get a WOW factor. How often do you go for a drive and pause to appreciate an architectural masterpiece in Nigeria? Europe is architecturally dull especially in residential areas. Some estates in Nigeria tried copying that dull concept of all house must look alike. Sometimes fences makes us not to truly appreciate the really beautiful houses we have in Nigeria due to lack of security and sometimes the owners can't showcase it in magazine even if they are approached by property magazines because of their ill-gotten wealth. I am of the school of thought that believes, an architectural masterpiece inspires people and makes them to appreciate their environment. In Nigeria, if you have ever passed by a house built by play architecture, you will subconsciously smile. He builds modern houses that beautifies it's environment. I am not saying he is the benchmark but that's a WOW factor. When people pass by your house and smile, then imagine being the resident or owner. |
What are the pros and cons of complete exterior house cladding other than aesthetics? I often see its not well embraced in Nigeria. Must our houses look almost the same. You can drive round neighborhood after neighborhood with a WOW factor.

The Contemporary style house grew out of Modern architecture, which arose with the Industrial Revolution of the early 20th century. Modern home style is marked by simple, clean lines; the idea that “form follows function”; and the use of what were then newly available building materials (iron, steel and sheet glass). Modern and Contemporary in design are not one in the same, as many people might think. Modern design refers to a period of time. It doesn't change, it is a defined style, and will remain such for ever. Contemporary design is ever changing, ever evolving. Contemporary homes are defined by their largely geometric form — cubes play a big part in the design philosophy. ... yet, conversely, an attempt to get the house to in some way welcome in the outside. The simplicity and functionality of a Contemporary house makes it appealing. It defies time and age. It is not in vogue neither will it stop being in vogue. |
@brabus. ...stainless steel net for buglary that pliers can cut. |
@abdulwastecx.....Some people like their house to be noticeable from very far away. The roof is part of a house obviously. |
Anything that can reduce the weight of a house should be a welcomed idea but it must be done by artisans who knows what they are doing. Not trial by error. Certain things you learn in life from experience especially the use of 6" hollow block to reduce the weight of a slab. If it's not properly done, it ends in tragedy. |
@smiley 001.....this is what makes some areas more expensive than others. That's why people cough out lots of millions to live in a particular area. It's all about security. You can't compare the security level on the Island (ikoyi, V.I, Lekki) to anywhere else in Lagos except Ikeja( Anthony,Magodo, Alausa,Omole). This drives the price of the land up. |
We are getting the direction to the person little by little. I don't want to share the name of the infamous roofer as well. I have to respect the wishes of FastShipping.
