@agarawu, brabus.....After extensive discussion with the company(Imperial interiors) in dubai, they charge $350/sqm for an average design so you can imagine a house with 2 or 3, 20sqm kids room or 35sqm/70sqm commercial space. It's not economically logical for the faint hearted. No wonder it's not even common in Dubai too. |
IMPERIAL INTERIORS CONTACTS DETAILS +971 50 502 0886 info@imperialae.com International City, Dubai, UAE http://www.imperialae.com/ I just called them. They said they will have presence in Nigeria after 2 months |
@agarawu23.....High traffic is with reference to commercial space. I doubt if i will subscribe to such ideas when it comes to commercial space, instead 3D ceiling will be better from my own opinion, like those beautiful painted ceilings of Cathedrals in Rome. The warranty and the price will give merit to its usage. |
@agarawu23....i checked there website based on the weblink in the pictures you attached earlier and they said the 3d flooring can last up to 10years which is more than enough time for kids to enter another age group and yearn for something different. When i say kids, i am talking from my own perspective based on current project for now. As for who can do it in Nigeria and will give 10 years warranty is what i don't know. I am not a party to recurrent expenses. @brabus...i always knew you could think outside the box, if you want. Don't tell me you don't know the meaning of pocket friendly, this is lovely and a testament to pocket friendly. It's something i will gladly do to save cost and save space. A combination of aluminum, polycarbonate, plywood, mdf and mirror. This thread always lives to its name. |
@brabus.....Mavverick is looking for pocket friendly wardrobe designs that are nice looking and considering the history between both of you, i doubt if he will consider you except he wants to move past the just concluded issue and focus on getting wardrobe through you. Who knows, you might redeem yourself and you guys might become bestie. Anyway, don't you think this will be expensive but for information sake, what's the cost of the wardrobe design? Is it local or imported material? |
@agarawu23.....this 3d flooring with animals will actually be a lovely flooring for children's room. Anyone who can do this should be abe to do stretch ceiling and 3d ceiling. I am also keen on knowing who can do this. |
@skimanski....i sincerely appreciate your input on this subject but the durability of plastic as an outdoor cladding still worries me but i think aluminum as a material which you and spyder880 suggested will do a better job than plastic. @brabus...don't you think an aluminum based material like Alucobond or Dibond will also serve the same purpose? I see the viability of vinyl covered polycarbornate as a pocket friendly option but i don't know it's comparative cost to aluminum based material. I stumbled upon this weblink which i have copied below and it shows different claddings. http://www.archiexpo.com/cat/facades-curtain-walls/other-facade-cladding-L-1074-_2.html PICTURES OF ALUCOBOND AND DIBOND BELOW

@brabus....Polycarbonate are translucent materials like the picture i pasted below and i doubt if Vinyl will make it opaque so to cast shadows on the building or inside the house through a window. I doubt how effectively this material can be bent without breaking. If you have more information on this material, kindly expatiate.

@skimanski...Your works are outstandingly innovative and contemporary which i believe are not in conformity with norm or time in our Nigerian society. Your introduction of fiber or rubber as an alternative that can be used to achieve this exterior design broadens the horizon but what will be the binding agent of the panels (if fiber or rubber panels are to be used) to give it a seamless flow? I can't notice any panel borders/edges in the picture. They are both materials that can be used under any environmental condition but my focus is on a locally achievable design that will be pocket friendly while still making an architectural statement. Its unfortunate that you lost contact with the company that brought fliers to you because their contact would have been most appreciated. I believe the purpose of this questions are to inspire ideas on how it can be achieved locally at a pocket friendly cost which in turn favors my build or others who might in future consider it, as an option. I am a firm believer that nobody has the monopoly of wisdom. cc abdulwastecx, brabus, spyder880, skimanski, segzy14, kkonsults, segcymoor, BITWORKS and other notable builders. Input from others who do not believe in an architectural norm will be appreciated.

@sypder880....Do you know where this can be achieved in Nigeria for a space of 4m by 15m, if one should decide to use aluminum or steel material? What thickness of aluminum or steel will be durable for this design? Based on the 2nd picture in my initial post, i think the thickness of the material used seems to be in the range of 5mm to 10mm. Please, kindly consider the weight of the material you are suggesting. Bolts can be spotted in the 2nd picture. @brabus....Don't you think Aluminum or steel material will be a better durable option, than your suggestion of vinyl on polycarbonate? Knowing fully well, that the thickness of the material might help it to weather the outdoor element. Obviously, one can't use materials that can corrode or erode with air, sunlight or water. cc abdulwastecx, brabus, spyder880, skimanski, segzy14, kkonsults, segcymoor, BITWORKS and other notable builders. Input from others who do not believe in an architectural norm, will be appreciated.

@brabus.....Are you saying Vinyl on Polycarbonate material will achieve the same result or it is the material, that was used in the attached picture? If you have any picture of a job done locally in Nigeria of Vinyl on Polycarbonate material, kindly past it here. Understanding building material, broadens horizon of what can be used in Nigeria to make an Architectural statement at a pocket friendly price. I am still waiting for input from other authorities in the Property section for their input on this subject. Nobody has the monopoly of wisdom. |
@brabus(n3xt)....Obviously from the picture, it is a material that is foldable and can withstand all the elements of nature while being durable to stand the test of time. The lace pattern is cut into the material. Would you like to rethink your suggestion? cc abdulwastecx, spyder880, skimanski, segzy14, kkonsults,, segcymoor, BITWORKS and other notable builders. |
Does anyone know which material is used for the exterior of this building? Input will be appreciated from all experts on this thread. cc abdulwastecx, brabus, spyder880, skimanski, segzy14, kkonsults,, segcymoor, BITWORKS and other notable builders.

@gabbytabby....I concur with you. For a carcass at that price, Lekki Gardens did the maths and it made sense to them. Thats why they floated the offer, it was greed that wrecked it. For a builder who does not have integrity and believes the customer is to be blamed, they too will one day have their day in court...its turn by turn. The moment you start sacrificing quality for profit then its just a matter of time, it's a ticking time bomb. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.......George Santayana (The Life of Reason, 1905) |
Integrity of Contractor Vs Financial Gains...i believe the contractors myopic desire won |
What happened to Lekki Gardens should also serve as a lesson to all builders, so called builders and aspiring builders in this forum. All professional parties involved in the construction Lekki Gardens are not new to construction and might have been getting away with quack jobs for God knows how many decades but their cup became full eventually. Most builders sacrifice quality jobs for gains and then compensate for it in the aesthetic. Builders using sub standard materials, wrong mix ratio for cement and all their selfish money saving schemes because of their greed or mismanagement of clients funds at the peril of the client without consideration for the effect of their actions will always have their cup full someday too. When a builder gets used to doing this and he thinks he got away with it, he will be doing it more often because greed is an insatiable attribute, this will lead to an obvious eventuality....His downfall. The interesting thing about construction is that the builder can still get arrested, if a building collapse after 10 years and some cases even up to 50 years. MAY THE SOUL OF THOSE LOST IN LEKKI GARDENS REST IN PERFECT PEACE BUT MAY THE BUILDERS AND ALL PARTIES INVOLVED BE HAUNTED BY THE BLOOD THEY HAVE SHED. |
