@smiley 010. ...is this Hajj M's Oriki? |
agarawu23....Ebenezer Obey sang a song, which said....Security mi o, o nbe lowo Oluwa. We don't hope to be a target, because there is no hiding place (iyan ogun odun, oshin gbono). We can prevent opportunistic thieves called buglars (that's why we have buglary proof to prevent buglars) not armed robbers. |
@ Hajj M.....Congrats. Everything you need to finish it to your taste, the Lord will grant you. Winning ways all the way. |
@agarawu23....you are right. Most people don't travel long distance with their car except they are touring but developing world like Nigeria don't have efficient mass transport systems like trains |
Is the half plot of land in Arowojobe on a tarred road |
I just noticed that uPVC can come with double and triple pane like EBM. What of the window profile....since its molded, can one decide to increase the profile or its only produced to a particular size?
|
@EgunMogaji....thanks for your prompt response. I will check the link. Price is not an issue for me but my core focus is strength and durability not aesthetic. Nothing I distaste as much as recurrent expenses. Insulation works both ways. It can trap the cold air indoors when the house gets cold and you decide to off the AC and it can make the house feel like oven when there is no light. More enlightenment on uPVC pls. |
Many atimes, this thread brightens my day with all the dramas and the knowledge acquired is very cogent to me. To all pros...more info needed on uPVC especially the pros and the cons. Can uPVC be used for glass curtain? |
Which area of lagos is this? |
I concur |
@brabus....what will you gain from being infamous? |
I will need like 10 trips of bambam. |
Do you do bambam epe (filling sand) |
Was the glass design and windows made at the site? |
@mdogunro....that can also work conviniently for a bungalow as lastpage said because the introduction of iron rod and concrete mix has actually made it into a pillar. Builders and engineer should look in this. Who knows the client might end up saving some money , but that's if the client can be convinced because most of us are dogmatic about things we think are norms based on projects we see being built around us. We don't have load bearing blocks in Nigeria, all those blocks are just to cover the spaces that needs to be covered between the pillars. |
@gbadexy....why are people not using the luminous glow mix for personal house? NO KNOWLEDGE IS LOST. |
@brabus...You derived utility from Ihebrooke's work. Utility is the satisfaction derived from paying for a product or service. I prefer a flat roof any given day but above all, I prefer a roof terraces. It makes the roof a livable space or a roof garden |
If you have a pure breed Border Collie for sale. Send message ONLY 08032462066 |
@Fastshipping....most of this people thrive on the bargaining power of the client. You are right, if there is nothing to hide, I don't see why the prices can't be made public with a caveat that the prices quoted are valid for a limited period of time. Straight forward business without trying to be crafty, they will be amazed the number of customers they will get simply because some people who thought this generators are very expensive might actually realize it's affordable. Nothing wrong with installation cost being negotiabe subject to inspection by their engineer/installer but the cost of the generator itself, shouldnt be a guarded secret |
When one thinks of the cost invested into building a house, I doubt if anyone will be want to have recurrent expenditures. Functionality is meant to trump aesthetics at all times. It's unwise to have any major recurrent expenses in the first 15 to 20 years of building a house but that's my own opinion and opinions defer from one person to another. The design of a house is meant to determine which material to use at every stage of the build, from foundation to roofing and eventually painting. |
I need two pure breed Border Collie puppies both male and female?
|
@qc1....are you saying that it is brabus that recommended you fill the compound with laterite? |
@kino47.....if you enlarge the pictures, it's brabus in the red T-Shirt. |
@podosci.....it's like a norm in Nigeria for most clients to make a few alterations to their plans when the construction is going on BUT it now depends on the builder to know if the foundation in place can accommodate such alterations. I have made alterations to my own build several times but I always seek the consent of the builder because in this case, he is the one that is meant to be the professional. Hardly anyone can claim to be innocent of this regard. |
@brabus...when you take on a build and you advice a client to do something and he refuse. You should always allow the client to sign a document clearly stating that you are excluded from the ramifications of his decision. This will save you from a lot of problems in future. @qc1....if brabus really adviced you, why did you go further to continue the work without following his advice? BRABUS, FOR THE FACT THAT YOU DIDN'T ENSURE THAT THE CLIENT SIGN'S SUCH AN AGREEMENT TO EXONERATE YOU, ALL BLAME POINTS TO YOU. LEGALLY, AS IN THIS CASE...YOU ARE THE BUILDER AND YOU ARE TO BLAME |
This is the most interesting and informative thread for me on Nairaland. I can't remember how many times I refresh this thread on any sleepless night and I still have a good laugh even though most times, I always learn something new. I am of the school of thought that believes "Nobody has the monopoly of wisdom". |
@brabus....points noted. I believe some of this advice will work for qc1 too. Sometimes the financial implications of some of this points may be challenging even though, doing it is the only viable option . No compromise especially when one factors in the cost of building the property. |
@brabus.....nice picture above. The question remains, what did they do right that was not done in QC1's project ? |
@Fastshipping....Don't underestimate the intellectual capacity of everyone in this Forum. |
Does anyone know how to curb ocean surge from encroaching on a property? All professional advices will be most appreciated. |
FOOD FOR THOUGHT

@AZUH....you can't find solution to the presumed problems of that house by pasting pictures online. Get professional help. You have invested so much into the building of lovely house for you to start seeking solutions online. That house needs physical examination. It's either you get a professional in the vicinity of that project to render a service to you or you get a professional here to do likewise. No real professional will give a solution to the defects you are pointing out in that house just by looking at pictures. |
