Politics › There Is 'No Go Area' On Fight Against Corruption -kukah Led Peace Committee by BabaO2(op): 2:43pm On Aug 13, 2015 |
Don’t truncate The Fight Against Corruption –APC WarnsThe All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned against any attempt to truncate the ongoing fight against corruption under any guise, while also expressing total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to end the scourge of corruption in the country. In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party appealed to all Nigerians, especially opinion leaders, to ensure that their actions and utterances do not give comfort to those who have looted the commonwealth. “Our party promised Nigerians change, but the change that we promised and which Nigerians desire so much cannot be achieved if we allow the resources that belong to all Nigerians to be appropriated by a few. How do we upgrade our decayed infrastructure and provide jobs for our people when the money meant for that has been squirelled away by a few? Alhaji Lai Mohammed Alhaji Lai Mohammed “President Buhari has promised to break the vicious cycle of corruption that has held Nigeria down. How can he do that if he allows those who have looted the treasury to escape justice, and then use their ill-gotten wealth to fight the government? How can he do that if he turns a blind eye to the monumental cases corruption in all sectors. “We know that fighting corruption in a society where the cankerworm has eaten deep into its fabric will not be easy. We know that corruption will always fight back. But there is no other choice than to confront and destroy this monster once and for all, lest it destroys Nigeria,’’ it said. APC said the President’s sincerity of purpose can be seen from his statement that any of his party members who is found to be corrupt will not escape justice. “Therefore, those who are shouting themselves hoarse by saying the Buhari Administration’s fight against corruption is selective or is a distraction are only seeking to sabotage the epic battle. “If they have any case of corruption against any member of the APC, they should forward their evidence to the appropriate anti-corruption agency. But to take to the airwaves and the pages of newspaper to use their paid agents to launch a campaign against the anti-graft fight is to fight against the very existence and survival of Nigeria. “The danger in truncating the fight against corruption is that it will consign Nigeria to poverty, insecurity and unemployment in perpetuity. That is why we are restating our unalloyed support for the President, and urging him not to be deterred or distracted by those hiding under sophistry to weaken the fight,’’ the party said. It said those who are engaging in nitpicking on the anti-corruption fight are simply implementing a well-oiled plan to make enough noise by accusing the Buhari Administration of being selective, and hope to create enough confusion and distraction to hoodwink unsuspecting Nigerians. “We are glad that most Nigerians have lent their support to the government’s fight against corruption, going by their interventions on the Social Media which has now become a people’s parliament of sorts, and other fora. We urge them not to relent in their support, irrespective of the antics of the naysayers,’’ APC said. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/08/13/dont-truncate-the-fight-against-corruption-apc-warns/ |

Now i have a perfect understanding why Jerry Rawlings killed all the leaders when he took over in Ghana. This peace committee in whatever disguise are nuisance to better Nigeria, especially the fake christian leaders that lived so large through Jonathan's nepotism and absolute recklessness in stealing public funds and doling out monies to few of them. Obviously Ayo Oritsejafor is sore afraid. Peace deal before and after elections doesn't translate to compromising corruption. |

The same way these people never allowed OBJ to pull the trigger against a few individuals that are each richer than Nigeria. If Buhari fails to recover all the looted monies from Jonathan, Jonathan will be first on the list of individuals richer than Nigeria. Peace accord during and after elections doesn't translate to compromising quality and effective leadership. |

metroparrot: Former governor of Cross River state Donald Duke says former President Jonathan told him and former president Obasanjo he never wanted to be the Vice president of Nigeria when he was selected to be the running mate to late President Umaru Yar'Adua for the 2007 general election. Donald Duke said this in an interview with news magazine, The Interviewer
"You don’t give authority to an unwilling person, particularly in a country like Nigeria. Umaru never wanted to be president. He was dealing with his health issues and wanted to retire and go lecture in a university. He was really offered an appointment at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria. Jonathan, on the other hand, had just been re-elected to be governor of Bayelsa and when he was picked, he was not so pleased. He said to Obasanjo and me, ‘I don’t want this job". If these two men never aspired to the office but were recruited to take on a responsibility as daunting as the management of Nigeria without mentally preparing for the office and having a grand vision of where they wanted to take Nigeria to, then there is a problem. The mental preparation is absolutely important. The vision can be scripted for you, but if you are not prepared and you have no capable team to help you follow through, it is grossly unfair. It is like converting a passenger on an aircraft to a pilot.”

Buhari's Administration Insincerity With Anti-corruption: Recall that on July 23, Spokesman Femi Adesina made known to Nigerians that the anti-corruption probe will only start and end with the immediate past government. According to him the President won't bother to probe the far past. He further said “The far past will includes Obasanjo and others. But the president has said he will not waste time to go that far.”
However, the above statement is in sharp contrast with Buhari comment/promise when he was running for the same office of the President in 2011 under CPC. In fact, he made it categorically that he will probe from the 1999 administration. In his own words; On what basis will Buhari probe OBJ, IBB,Yaradua etc?, did Buhari receive transition notes/ handover notes from them? Handover /transition notes is the only basis to probe any government, whatever is the gap between the notes and what we have on the ground/accounts will be accounted for by the immediate past government otherwise they face prosecution consequences. |

barcanista: [s]It was shocking that Alhaji Lai Muhammed, the spokesman for All Progressive Congress (APC) will come out in public to make a remark that suggests that APC leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Hon Rotimi Amaechi have no case pending with EFCC. To quote Alhaji Lai Muhammed "With what evidence will the EFCC go after Tinubu or Amaechi. What were they accused of? Why will they go after them if there are no petitions against them?". Is Lai Muhammed really asking what both men are being accused of? I think it is proper to give him a reminder of events.
EFCC's Investigation on Tinubu In September 2006, the EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu made known before the Senate that then Lagos state Governor, Bola Tinubu is under corruption investigation that is/was of "International dimension". I believe that Nigerians will want to know the outcome of the EFCC investigation against BAT that was said to be of "international dimension". Rather than coming out to ask Nigerians what "Tinubu" is accused of, it will be patriotic for Lai Muhammed to charge the President and EFCC to show transparency and leadership by telling Nigerians the status of the investigation-to determine whether or not BAT has a case to answer. Ref:www.ocnus.net/artman2/publish/Africa_8/Looting_EFCC_Report_Indicts_15_Governors_26047_printer.shtml
For the record: At no time did ANY court acquit Tinubu of theft. He was only acquitted on the allegation of operating 10 foreign accounts during his 8years as Governor which violated section 7 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Cap C15 LFN, 2004 www.vanguardngr.com/2011/12/tinubu-floors-fg/
Petition Against Amaechi Sent To EFCC, Presidency: On August 5, 2015 it was reported that a group known as The Integrity Group, sent a "well detailed petition of corruption against former governor of Rivers state, Chibuike Amaechi to President Buhari and the EFCC". Neither the Presidency nor the EFCC has denied receipt of the I.G's petition. I don't want to believe that Lai Muhammed made the statement of "no petition" against Amaechi out of ignorance. I will advice that he consult with the EFCC and the Presidency, and encourage them to work on the petition so as to establish the innocence or otherwise of the former governor. (ref: www.nairaland.com/2505582/petition-buhari-efcc-against-amaechi)

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/NIgerianWorldForum/conversations/topics/100615 A Challenge To President Buhari and APC: One of the biggest gaffe of the immediate past administration is the inability to bring alleged corrupt officials to justice (just like its own predecessors). The President should live up to his supposed tag as an anti-corruption czar and bring corrupt officers (whether near past, far past or present) to justice. He should revisit the EFCC investigation/report against Tinubu and others; pursue the petition against Amaechi; and bring every official that has stolen public funds to justice. In absence of sincere anti-corruption fight, he will continue to be seen as insincere and unserious.

The fact is that nothing ever worked under jonathan. of course, they put money into refineries and other needs of Nigerians to camouflage, but they never wanted any of the projects to work, just turning around the vicious circle and used the projects as conduit pipe of siphoning money, samething happened for electricity and NIPP project. Immediately Buhari was declared winner, electricity we all thought had fundamental problem started functioning from 0% to 70%. NIPP personnels that people were begging and offering bribes for poles suddenly started loading trailers of electricity poles to sites and begging people to install poles for them, because of the fear that their projects could be revoked/ negotiated. |
