NATIONAL Co-ordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, yesterday, said that six million members of the group have resolved to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan at the March 28 presidential polls.

He said OPC members took the decision at their National Co-ordinating Council meeting after taking time to assess President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Major Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made the disclosure at his Lagos residence while hosting Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon Kingsley Kuku, who came to solicit his and OPC’s support for Jonathan’s re-election.
Adams said OPC is rooting for Jonathan because of his human rights records in not arresting or detaining any activist since he came to power, convocation of national conference and promise to implement the 633 recommendations that will help to restructure the country, which he said is in the interest of the Yoruba and South-west.

 

He said: ‘’OPC is a group of six million people. We sat down at our National Co-ordinating Council to decide on who to vote for between President Jonathan and Buhari and the support for Jonathan is unanimous.”

”Now, we have come out to support Jonathan because of the National Conference. We have been clamouring for National Conference since 1992, even our leaders could not organise it. President Olusegun Obasanjo organised the National Political Reforms Conference with a lot of no-go areas. In the end there was a stalemate. ”Now a minority, Jonathan, did it. The only no-go area is the unity of the country. He gave us open cheque to decide the future of Nigeria.”

Our situation as a people of Nigerian nation becomes pathetic when you consider the state that produced Fayose as a leader. Ekiti state is popular for its erudition, a state with the highest number of professors and doctorate degree holders. Can we now say education doesn't always bring the best judgement out of people? Good writeup, but with available information in public dormain after the election, Fayose robbed people of ekiti state at gun point.

It is no longer news that OBJ's third term agenda was real. He never denied it. He only said he didn't initiate it. Do people still say GEJ pushed the election? Only one body could do that and it was INEC-an independent body which did due to its unpreparedness and the unfavourable security report. I think GEJ is seen as a weakling.if he has been exercising his powers with impunity as many claim, he won't be so tagged. Rather he's accused more of inaction or slow response.
I'm sure you know that OBJ's major grouse with GEJ and PDP is the prominence of place of his sworn enemy Buruji Kashamu in the party. All other ssues he raised were just add-ons to divert attention to his personal interest in it all..
People are applauding OBJ because he has joined the crowd echoing the APC slogan. For that alone, his sins have been forgiven as was done for Bukola Saraki, Oyinlola, Segun Oni, Amechi, Gemade and other self-serving politicians who Odumakin and his group chose to be different from by working for the common good

Jonathan is regarded weakling, daft, clueless because he is always lost of answers and confidence to both local and international news media not because he was not acting with impunity. Also his postures and carriage is not always natural, it is like someone that is failing carriage training instructions.

What moral right has Obasanjo to extract a single-term committment from any political leader? Did OBJ not reneged on his own single term deal with the north and even pushed for a third term after the consitutional two terms? Tell me a an elected leader who kept the single-term promise. Truth is all politicians speak from both sides of the mouth. This same act U people are quick to demonise GEJ for is characteristic of all politicians. Ceaseless brainwashing via APC-sponsored propaganda wouldn't allow many to view issues objectively. The ills which confront our nation today are not about a political party but a greedy and inept political leadership.

Postponement of election made me believed that Obasanjo never pushed for 3rd term, ask urself if Jonathan could push election certain to lose with impunity what could have stopped Obasanjo to have 3rd term with the same impunity ?
Sincerity is the soul of business, Jonathan never aspired to be president of Nigeria, but to satisfy constitution he was confirmed president after the death of yaradua a northern slot, to compensate Jonathan again OBJ rose against northners even despite it was their turn/slot to rule. Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Barakin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Samuel Doro, has been killed by gunmen who visited his residence at the early hours of Monday.
