Politics › How Protect Yourself During An Active Protest by Babatunjo(op): 7:53am On Aug 01, 2024 |
Babatunjo: To protect yourself against thugs and security agencies brutality during a protest, consider bringing the following items:
Protective Gear: Wear goggles or safety glasses to shield your eyes from tear gas or pepper spray.
Face Mask: A mask can help with tear gas or pepper spray; consider an N95 mask for added protection.
Water Bottle: Use it to rinse off irritants from tear gas or pepper spray.
Milk or Antacids: These can help neutralize the effects of pepper spray if you get exposed.
Legal Observers: If possible, have someone designated to record interactions with law enforcement.
Emergency Legal Information: Carry contact details for legal aid or an attorney in case of arrest.
Whistle: To alert others if you’re in distress. Blanket or Towel: For cushioning and covering if you need to sit on the ground or protect yourself.
Bandanas or Cloth: Useful to cover your face or for first aid, in case of teargas.
Portable Charger: Ensures your phone stays functional for calls or emergency contacts.
Stay informed about Nigerian laws and your rights during protests to ensure you are prepared and safe. |
Politics › #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Protecting Yourself During A Protest by Babatunjo(op): 7:26am On Aug 01, 2024 |
Babatunjo: Protecting yourself during a protest involves a combination of preparation and awareness. Here are some tips to help keep yourself safe:
Know Your Rights: Familiarize yourself with your legal rights regarding protests in Nigeria. This can help you handle encounters with law enforcement more effectively. Section 40 of the Nigerian constitution guarantees your right to peaceful protest
Plan Ahead: Choose a protest with a clear purpose and plan your route to and from the location. Share your plans with someone who isn’t attending the protest.
Dress Appropriately: Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Avoid wearing anything that could identify you easily, like logos or distinctive attire.
Stay Informed: Follow news updates and social media feeds about the protest. Be aware of any changes in plans or potential risks.
Carry Essentials: Bring necessary items like water, snacks, a basic first-aid kit, and a fully charged phone. Consider having a portable charger.
Avoid Escalation: Keep calm and avoid confrontations with counter-protesters or law enforcement. De-escalation can help avoid dangerous situations.
Keep a Safe Distance: Stay away from any physical altercations or areas where violence might break out.
Protect Your Health: If tear gas or pepper spray is used, try to cover your face with a mask or cloth, and move to a well-ventilated area. Know how to flush your eyes and skin if exposed.
Have a Meeting Point: Designate a meeting point in case you get separated from your group.
Be Mindful of Surveillance: Be aware that your movements might be monitored, and avoid sharing personal information or sensitive data on social media.
Staying alert and prepared can help ensure your safety while participating in protests. |

Family is Family. As the elder bro, you have to be the bigger person. Keep staying connected to him.. When he's older and wiser he'll appreciate you better.
By the way you don't need his love.. but his appreciation and respect. Don't react, give him time.. if after he's 40 years and older, and still acts this way, then you can respond.

Politics › Why The New Minimum Wage Must Be Above 100k: A Call For Economic Empowerment by Babatunjo(op): 7:33pm On Jun 06, 2024 |
In the heartbeat of Nigeria's bustling economy lies a stark reality: the struggle of the Nigerian civil servant, toiling tirelessly day in and day out, yet barely making ends meet. As we navigate the intricate web of economic challenges, it becomes increasingly apparent that the time for change is now. It's time to elevate the minimum wage above 100k, not merely as an act of generosity, but as a testament to our commitment to unlocking Nigeria's boundless potential.
Consider for a moment the harsh truth that an average "hookup girl" can earn more than 100k in a single night's business. This jarring juxtaposition highlights the glaring disparity within our society. How can we justify a reality where fleeting transactions yield greater rewards than the dedicated service of our civil servants?
But the call for a higher minimum wage extends beyond mere fairness. It speaks to the very essence of economic prosperity and social cohesion. When more money finds its way into the pockets of civil servants, it ignites a ripple effect that reverberates across every sector of society. From the market women diligently tending to their stalls, to the school teachers nurturing the minds of tomorrow, to the artisans and entrepreneurs fueling local commerce – everyone stands to benefit.
Picture a Nigeria where money flows freely, where purchasing power is no longer a distant dream but a tangible reality. A minimum wage between 100k and 200k isn't just about survival; it's about thriving. It's about empowering the Nigerian middle class to lead lives of dignity and fulfillment.
Yes, some may raise concerns about inflation, about the potential strain on the economy. But let us not be deterred by fear, for courage is the hallmark of progress. With prudent economic management and a steadfast commitment to fiscal responsibility, we can navigate these challenges and emerge stronger than ever before.
In the tapestry of our nation's story, let the call for a higher minimum wage be a resounding chorus of hope and optimism. Let it be a testament to our unwavering belief in Nigeria's untapped potential, in the resilience of its people, and in the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
As we embark on this journey towards economic empowerment, let us do so with pride, with passion, and with an unshakeable faith in the future of our beloved Federal Republic of Nigeria.
God bless Nigeria.

Any coup in Nigeria of today (2024), if successful, will lead to a very bloody civil war.
Nigeria is already so much polarized, and there is so much weapons proliferation with various Non state armed groups operating in the country already.
General Abdulsalam should forget this idea of military coup in today's Nigeria. |

Medical doctors should be the highest paid set of civil servants, followed by other health professionals, security, education, legal, works and engineering, and finance. Others can be well taken care of by private sector and big coporations.

Disclaimer: please look at this in a non-tribalistic manner.
Opinion: Northerners are more concerned about their predominant religion(Islam), than their health, economy, infrastructure, education, technology, stable electricity and security of their people (i.e. ending kidnapping, terrorism and banditry).
If only they can direct their energy towards this things, the North will be like Dubia, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Same goes for most sahel African countries like Niger, Mali and so on.
Agencies like Hisbah, Muric and their likes have no place in modern societies. This is year 2024, for God's sake. The age of AI, self driving cars, Web 3 and son on.

Celebrities › Opinion: Rehabilitation Of Bobrisky Should Be Done By Nigerian Government by Babatunjo(op): 3:14pm On Apr 12, 2024 |
Following the recent arrest of the transgender "Idris Okuneye", popularly known as "Bobrisky", the infamous Nigerian transgender, whose rise in the Nigerian social media space and Lagos socialite circles, has surprised and at the same time shocked many of us, who consider ourselves as conservatives in this country.
The rise of the LGBTQ movement in the west, albeit with the well documented negative effects on innocent children. This shouldn't be a reason for the adoption of this type of sexuality display in the Nigerian public space. It is also noteworthy that most of these social displays aimed at financial gains by these so called "new generation transgenders."
If you have decided to adopt another sexuality different from what is known to us in this part of the world, practice this in your privacy, or move to another country that allows you to display it publicly.
Don't come on social media to display these. A lot of Nigerian teenagers who would have otherwise developed normal sexuality, may end up becoming a sexually divergent adult, if they get exposed to these "new generation transgenders" on our social media space.
It would also be good, if the Nigerian security agencies (including the efcc) who worked together for the arrest of "Idris Okuneye" aka "Bobrisky", to subject him to psychological treatments, and inject him with the male hormone called, Testosterone. This will make him to return to a real man..
