babey543: Are you the one studying? If so that is cool. Let your wife apply for dependent visa. With dependant visa, your wife can still study full time.
Apply for dependant visa for her. She doesn't need to go back to Nigeria for everything. You can bring her mother/your mother or other female family member to help her with visitor visa. Visitor visa is cheap so don't waste money going back to Nigeria due to safety and flight costs.
Her dependant visa covers free child birth in the UK. Your twins will also get UK birth certificate. When registering them in school, hospital and many other amenities, they will be treated as UK Citizens due to the UK birth certificate.
Your children don't need to apply for visa if you give birth in UK. They only need visa if you plan to go out from the UK.
If your wife worked for 26 weeks before giving birth, she will get free money from the government. She can even work part time to benefit. This is called Maternity Allowance for nine months.
If your wife do not obtain visa now, she will pay hospital money in Nigeria. Very risky to give birth to twins in Nigeria due to poor medical facilities. You also need to apply for visa for the twins to come to UK. You will also need to renew the twins visa to avoid deportation.
You won't bear all this stress if your wife gives birth in UK. @Cjaylawson Hope you took this advice. |

medoty: VISA ALERT!!!
Application 2nd May Biometric 5th May (3 child dependents TLS Abuja) Transferred and received by DMC 5th May NSF email for 2 dependants requesting for POF consent 24th May Decision mail for applicant without NSF mail 9th June Decision mail for the remaining applicants 16th June.
Seems Child visa is more stressful as they try to protect the children against possible trafficking and avoid litigations.
Alhamdullilah. It is not easy waiting for visa. The tension and the anxiety but we thank God for everything. Nice one. Alhamdulillah. |

duchess90: Hello
Yippee twins
Who is the main applicant?
How far gone is she?
IHS is only for you and your born dependants not the ones still baking in the tummy
Giving birth in the UK doesn't add to anything, there is no citizenship by birth so it will depend on what she wants.
Bear in mind you might need to sort out things like passport when you are returning to Nigeria if you still decide to go to the UK
More information will hopefully help, again the decision is entirely you and yours to make
Cheers It is better she come to UK to avoid unnecessary expenses. Her dependant visa covers free child birth in the UK. The twins will also get UK birth certificate. When registering the twins in school, hospital and many other amenities, they will be treated as UK Citizens by people due to the UK birth certificate. Giving birth in UK does not lead to citizenship but many citizens still think so. Once you start using visa to register your child everywhere, the children will be targeted and in school they will treat them as non citizens. The children born in UK don't need to apply for any visa if you give birth in UK. They only need visa if they plan to go out from the UK. If the wife worked for 26 weeks in UK before giving birth, she will get free money from the UK government. She can even work part time to benefit. This is called Maternity Allowance for nine months and it is not classified as public funds. If the wife do not obtain visa now, she will pay hospital money in Nigeria. Very risky to give birth to twins in Nigeria due to poor medical facilities. They will also need to apply for visa for the twins to come to UK. They will also need to renew the twins visa every time before they become citizens in the UK. All these will be avoided. |

tolaade1960: With your fist class or strong 2:1 CGPA , you can get scholarships in Canada and USA conveniently.
With your first class , PTDF is not certain for some people because of Nigerian factors.
Mind you its usually easy for STEM courses to get these scholarships. Yes. This is spot on. USA and Canada scholarships is where your First Class, strong 2.1 and publications stand out unlike PTDF which is pure luck. |

Engr2016: Bro, even the US and Canada universities are not that easy unless you have contacted a Professor who is keen in welcoming you to his/her research group before submitting your application on the general admission portal. Without this, most applicants waste a lot of dollars on application fees every year to US/Canadian universities unlike UK universities that doesn't even charge for application fees (except for few that does). I was once a victim too. Don't forget GRE, IELTS , WES evaluation etc are needed in most cases and these are not cheap either. There are many USA and Canada universities that no longer require application fee especially now that UK introduced Post study visa. Many schools now waive GRE. Many USA and Canada universities now waive English for Nigerians. Some require WAEC or English Proficiency letter. You just need to Google. So many Nigerians are winning it. Try and change your network to get info. This is where your First Class, strong 2.1 and publications stand out unlike PTDF which is pure luck. |

Engr2016: Interesting indeed. To buttress your point, even Libermmann confirmed that he knows a 2:2 that won UK Msc last year. The competition is within the states. An average profile of candidate A in state A might be better than than a distinction profile of candidate B in state B. So A might win and B might not. Yes. You got it. Because you scored low in WAEC and won it doesn't mean WAEC is useless. Also because you got 2.2 in your first degree and won it doesn't mean First class is useless. You were just lucky because you were in a less competitive state and you met your category list. I saw one state in this list with PhD candidates in FGM of 6 people. While another state had 29 candidates for FGM. Those with 2.2 and average WAEC can actually win the first category. It is even likely among the 6, 4 people might miss the interview especially if they chose virtual interview as many candidates missed it. That means that the 2 people who did the interview will automatically win irrespective of their performance. That is why I said PTDF scholarship is God's grace. |

Tingotoe: Its not. I'm a German PTDF PhD scholar with an average WAEC certificate. Its mostly your proposal at this level WAEC is very important. If not, there is no how many 2.2 candidates usually win. You won it because your total score in your category might be in a less competitive state. Note that your category (FGM) is less competitive compared to UK. You might have got recommendation in your proposal as there is less competition. Most strong profile chose UK. Many people with strong profile better than you did not win. They might have chosen UK which has more competition. They might have been in a more competitive states. Also, it could be that marking scheme was lenient as WAEC didn't carry much weight back then unlike now. You just need to thank God and stop putting people hopes high. The truth is only few people will win and many people will be disappointed. Say it as it is. Above all, it is God's grace that will make one win and not by anyone doing. Keep on praying. What will be will be. |

Any mosque and church marriage certificate is accepted as long as your marriage is authentic. It should be stamped. Also, you will need affidavit of marriage (just 200 to 1000 naira) preferably any federal or state high court and you will need to proof your marriage is subsisting. Even people with no computer science background have smashed and destroyed cybersecurity. Go to Udemy and Coursera to have a broad knowledge of the course and understand it first if you are scared. You can also do data science or data analytics so you can choose what you are most competent. Do your findings yourself and have the knowledge. No one can decide for you. |

From your course of study in your Msc, do you think I can still apply for the course or do I need to have skills on Cybersecurity? Since your first degree is computer science. You have no problem. Experience is only important for those that there first degree is not related to their proposed MSc course. However, I advise you to go to coursera and udemy to have knowledge about cyber security before going for the course. |

DaCrypto: Hello Everyone,
I studied Mechanical Engineering in my first degree...graduated with 2.1 in 2009. I have also done my master degree still in Mechanical Engineering.
However, after my undergraduate program, I got a job as a cybersecurity officer in a Bank and I have been in the banking industry ever since. I have done some information security certifications like Sec+, CEH, CISM.
My problem is that I am confused on what part to follow;
1. Should I start from Master Mechanical Engineering
2. Should I go straight for PhD
3. Or should I continue with Cybersecurity?
I got some information that it would be difficult to get VISA if I go for Cybersecurity because it's different from my first degree..."Lack of career progression".
Please I need guidance from experienced members Google and apply for MSc Cyber security. You do not need to add MSc Mechanical Engineering to not complicate your application. Your BSc in Mechanical Engineering is okay. You just need to include your cybersecurity experience in your CV as well as get a reference letter that confirms that you worked in the Cybersecurity role. Add your employment letter also. You will definitely get admission. IT is hotcake in the UK so you will easily get a job as a student and when you graduate. Good luck. |

Salyass555: Are you for real? Then lemme blow your mind. Do you know that a single stakeholder can get up to five slots? In fact I know one stake holder that got 10 slots last year.. if he decides to share it all to people from his state tell me how someone with 100% marks is going to get shortlisted? That means only his candidates are going from that state. Do you also know that people that didn’t even register can get their hands on that slot and get selected ahead of one that registered ? Yess, you heard me ryt. I know one and he is in England as we speak. So the issue of marks should be less of your worries. Lol Even to that.. ask whoever you want to ask from ptdf admin.. recommendation by panelists is the most important selection criteria when it comes to merit selection. If you want get 80% of the marks someone with 50% and recommendation by his interview panel is going ahead of you. I am not responding again. Believe what you want to believe. Stakeholder lists is different from Merit list. Stakeholder lists are NYSC Awardees, oil companies workers and politicians. Undergraduate foreign scholarship are for stakeholders Merit list: are those who did the actual scholarship. This is genuine and no man know man. Man know man is only for stakeholder lists. |

However during interview, the interviewers asked me to give them both my Waec and Neco, but I told them I didn't use my Neco for the application. They insisted that if I have my Neco I should still give them so they may pick the best results from the two.
I am tempted to ask this; if the software had graded the Waec results and the panel is only verifying, why did they ask of my Neco to pick the best scores from both Waec and Neco results knowing well that I didn't use the Neco results for the application (and was not graded by the software)? The examiner want to help you to pick your highest score from WAEC and NECO. Why did you argue with them? |

How much is the worth of the scholarship?
Lastly, Is it a one-off payment? OR monthly stipend?
Thank You Try and apply to any school in FGM and get admission. You can switch within countries if you are a FGM scholar. However, you cant switch to UK You get paid ahead for 6 months. For example, in January, you will be paid January to July money |

perrychemical: I can confirm to you that O'level plays a significant factor in shorlisting candidates. I am also a past schorlar, but I got PTDF the period they normally conduct test to select Msc awardee. I have subsequently tried and encoraged my younger brother who had a very good grade in his first degree, but most of his O' level subjects were C, in fact he got mostly C5 and C6, and he was not shortlisted for all the three time he tried. But my wife has attemped twice in the year 2018, and this year included with second class lower division, 4A1 including Maths and English, B3 in one subject , 5 publications and many awards. She was always shortlisted. I am very sure she could not get the schorlaship in the year 2018, because she was told her proposal was not related to Oil and Gas. This year, she did her interview in Ibadan, with the same proposal, you can imagine even after the interview, they had to call her back to collect her number. she was also asked if she knows someone at PTDF. So, you can see that her O'level result alone is very tight even though she got 2:2, and of course her Msc was a merit. Your wife might win it. She scored 28 over 30 in her O level part ( 4A1 and 1B3) Wife score for first degree and Masters: 6 plus 8: 14 over 20. Total score: 42 over 50 Some First Class and Distinction holders have average scores in their O levels and therefore will miss out: Typical First class and Distinction: 20 over 20 Typical O levels: 4B3 and 1C6: 16 plus 1: 17 over 30 Total score: 37 over 50. That is five marks difference in favour of your wife. This is why considerable 2.2 graduates win PTDF scholarship. It is not a man-know-man like some people think. |

jlomz: Bro thank you so very much for the updates, my question is, regarding this issue of admission, you know some of these schools require a successful applicant to pay acceptance fee/tuition after issuing admission to the individual and it's usually binding for a certain period after which one's admission will/might be rescinded.
PTDF might release the list after that payment window, how does one now go about it?
Then in cases for deferring admission, I might be wrong but some persons by extrapolation realize that with the current PTDF schedule the list might not come as at when due, that automatically translates to next year, shey the deferring process isn't strenuous?
God will help us with this election. The list will be out next month. Who are those people telling you lies? Get your admission letter and forget about deferment as it is too risky. You can get admission in a UK school now if you apply. But July might be too late. Tell them you will be on full scholarship by PTDF. |

Those that have won it before, I really salute and respect you all. It's no mean feat at all. May such Divine Grace work for us too. You are welcome. Don't be scared. I didn't even do particularly well to my standards in my interview and I got the scholarship probably due to my strong O level and my state wasn't competitive from the available statistics. That was done by computer Programming. But humans need to verify as people can lie. Also SOP, Research Proposal, Membership and Publication score is given during interview. Some people have fake publication and membership that do not meet the acceptance criteria. Programming can't do the above. |

That is why they require your original results etc. Anybody can put that they have first class and 8As on the software, without verification - they cannot accept that submission. The verification (done at interview stage) is an important part of the process Correct. Also SOP, Research Proposal, Membership and Publication score is given during interview. |
