However, it is only right that you give back to this thread by sharing tips on how you structured your application, relevant qualifications/courses taken and other things you did that gave you an edge during your application. Some of us have been doing this since Uzland started this thread last year and you were able to get the necessary information you need from here. It won't be fair to withhold and relevant tips that can help someone else. And you don't need to wait to be asked before you drop it. You can share your experience like some have done/have been doing.

House. Please I went to bank to collect my statement of account to scan and upload on TLS but the statement isn’t inked stamped. I asked why and they said I that’s how it will be. Or is it better to request for it online and print colored myself cus they printed it in black and white.

The attached black and white is accepted since it is stamped. It is fine.

Two things for you to note

You would need to have additional qualifications by way of a PGD or significant work experience(depending on the programme you may need to show significant relevant work experience) to support your application with an HND.

Secondly, you will also need to be proactive in your application by making it stand out. Simply because institutions are receiving loads of applications globally for the same programme you are applying for from applicants who hold a Second Class degree and above. So you need to ensure you write a compelling personal statement that demonstrates how you meet the entry requirements for the programme you are applying for and provide relevant references.

whatever institutions you apply to at the end of the day, you need to give the admissions team a reason to have more than a glance at your application.

With relevant experience in your proposed field, HND and Third class holders get admission easily. This has been demonstrated in this forum repeatedly. So many schools in UK accept HND and Third Class.

HND and Third class holders in this forum have gained admission in Roehampton University, Sheffield Hallam University, University of West England. Google the question and add nairaland for the full lists.

Those who don't get admission have no relevant experience with poorly written personal statement and recommendation letter.

Please, I need an advice on this issue.

I'll be travelling to the UK with my family, my husband and daughter. Initially, we applied for a 2 year course to buy time since I'll go first and they'll come join me later, like after 1 year or less. To avoid any form of issues around their visa applications when they're eventually ready, we decided to process all our visas together. Then we all travel together for like a month so they can get their BRPs and then travel back to Nigeria.

Now, we're thinking, is there still a need for a 2 year course? Again, the fact that they are not physically here, will it affect anything in anyway? Like, when we want to apply for PSWV, will this cause any issue? They'll definitely come over before the end of my course, but I'll be close to finishing.

Please, I want to be certain before we take any step in that regard. has anyone gone through anything similar?

If given visa from Nigeria, you have like 1 to 3 months depending on the vignette visa allowing you and your family to come to UK.

If the vignette visa expires, your family will reapply for visa. Only apply for visa when your family will sure come.

To gain admission directly to MSc, you must have considerable work experience and your experience should be related to your propose course. You should also submit a professional reference letter from the company. Then you will certainly gain admission.

Try other schools like Ulster University Birmingham, Roehampton University, University of Hull, University College Birmingham e.t.c

My addition to this is i was the first ranked candidate for my state in the interview list for UK. I did not get the scholarship, but the second and third ranked candidates in my state in the interview list got the award. However someone far down on the list also got it, making them three in total.

You suppose to win it. How was your interview, did you make any mistake when disseminating your information.

How was your SOP? Did you relate it to oil and gas? Did you think you convinced your assessors?

Was your course readily available in Nigeria with no overeseas expertees? For example, They will favour Geology over Public Health as it is more associated to oil and gas development in Nigeria.


Did you have membership, publications and awards?


The computer only ranks degree and O level during application. I am very sure you had First class and your O level is superb.
Try and work on the aforementioned and also apply to other scholarship such as Chevening (currently on), Australia government, Commonwealth, USA nad Canada schools e.t.c

In my state, I found someone that was not on the interview list but was awarded . This is a public platform I would have shown you the proof .

Show the proof so we can all post it.

Put the snapshots and screenshot. If not, then stop spreading falsehood.

Every shortlisted students in the first list should be on the final list.

If not, then PTDF is no more on Merit.

Your profile is not spectacular and only 4 people are selected for PhD.

You had 9 credits. People had As and Bs.

You had 2.2. People had First Class.

People in your state had publications, certifications and professional membership also. Having admission is not a criteria. Your proposal might not be good enough.

So you are just ordinary. Stop lamenting and accusing PTDF when there are others in your state with better profile than you.

Learn from your failure instead of just bragging not knowing that you are just with an ordinary profile. Instead of UK, go for GFCM. Also, try other scholarships in USA and Canada schools.
