One can not even manage data again, videos are now everywhere on ones timelime and they play automatically. Even when you pause the video it will still be loading underground and it's somehow annoying. I think facebook is better with pictures and articles and not disturbing videos everywhere, if I need to watch videos then i'll go to youtube. just my observation anyway.

Tips On How To Avoid or Escape Kidnap

Staying safe and secured becomes difficult once perceived to have political influence, or wealth or ties to some recognized western organizations or groups. The same fate applies to business travelers, significant government contractors, faith-based organizations and some well-known non-profit workers. These people are target to kidnappers who hold them to ransom and demand huge amounts of money for their buyback. The tragic part is that some kidnapped victims are been killed if no concrete agreements was reached between the kidnappers and their negotiator while some end up spending several years in hostility. The candid fact is that nothing can totally eliminate risk of being kidnapped but here are some tips on how to avoid or escape kidnap.

Erase the notion that you can’t be kidnapped; over-confidence had made a lot fall victims of kidnappers, when you develop the euphoric attitude that nothing can happen, that is when you become victim, you must always be cautious and vigilant.

Avoid Isolation; an isolated target is easier to kidnap than when in group, avoid walking on a lonely road alone and if you must trail the road make sure it’s in the company of trusted people. Hostage takers would need to work extra hard to kidnap members of a group.

Personal Evaluation; this is very important especially when in a new environment, personal evaluation of who you are, your destination, and how others might perceive your person when you get there can make a huge difference. Keep a low profile and dress modestly, flashy cloths and expensive jewelries that will naturally draw unnecessary attention to you so is not advisable. Try blending with others as quick as possible and when offended, avoid threatening or offensive comments.

Caution Alcohol Intake; kidnappers will break no sweat in capturing a drunk potential victim; avoid getting intoxicated when at bars or clubs or restaurants if at all you must patronize. The effects of alcohol can draw unnecessary attention to you and even make you less alert to your surroundings. In addition, don’t accept drinks, cigarettes, gums, or food from anyone you are not familiar with.

Avoid Repeated Pattern of Activities; avoid repeated routines at the same time every day so as not to become predictable. Frequently visited locations should be routed differently, avoid eating at the same restaurant at a particular time of the day, consider changing hotels, avoid walking straight to your house if you notice some irregularities.

Careful of Transportation; take buses and taxis at legitimate parks and avoid taxis with passenger(s) already in the car as this could be a tricky conspiracy. Avoid trips to rural and unfamiliar areas if new to the environment, and if compulsory, don’t go alone and inform trusted friends, relatives, or colleague about your where about and when expected to return.

Be Swift and Smart, Not Scared or Timid; when confronted with a potential predator, immediately your response shows that you are scared or timid then your actions become predictable, and that is exactly how they predicted you to be, but when you play smart, you would become unpredictable. You need to know that all rules have changed when confronted so you can do anything to secure your safety and also do anything to get attention; break bottles, scream hard, break glasses, throw chairs, stone or anything just to get attention.

Use of Cell Phone; let your cell phones work for you and not against you, there are dos and don’ts as regards cell phones especially when in a new environment. Don’t get too engulfed interacting with your phone at the expense of happenings around you, don’t wear headphones if not familiar with the place. Alert the authority if you notice any irregularities within your environment so as to maintain orderliness. For all Nigerian Police security numbers click here

If all these tips on how to avoid or escape kidnap are strictly adhere to, your safety to a large extent is guaranteed, knowing that nothing can totally eliminate risk of being kidnapped as we have said hitherto.

Legalizing Sex workers’ Rights

Legalizing the sex workers’ rights has being one of the main agitation of those in the industry. Sex work generally is being referred to as prostitution, but beyond that it also cut across to dancers at the strip clubs, porn models, phone intimacy operators and those who provide sexually related services. Most sex workers hate to be called prostitutes and also do not wish to be branded as criminals, they see the law against sex work, pornography, same sex and all other aspects of sex industry as a violation of their human rights. The National Association of Nigeria Prostitutes (NANP) during the cause of celebrating the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari declared a 3 day free sex services nationwide for all their customers and most importantly pleaded to the newly elected president in their text message through the media to consider legalizing sex workers’ rights for the sex industry. The goals of sex workers’ rights movements all over the world may be different but all still point to the aim to decriminalize and destigmatize sex work and to get fair treatment before cultural forces and the law for all those in the sex industry.

The influence of cultural values and religious beliefs in the formulation of laws cannot be over emphasis as all laws that govern a Nation are being extracted from their moral values and religion. Nearly all the Nigerian cultures are against prostitution and sexually related services, while religion is even a no go area, but the argument is that as a human being, you should have the rights to own your body and to whatever you like with it so far its activities are not infringing on other people’s rights.

We will be looking at the argument for and against the legalization of prostitution as being argued by various human rights activist. Paul Armentano in his article “The Case for Legalized Prostitution,” wrote: “…[T]he most important argument for the legalization of prostitution services is that such prohibitions violate one’s most basic and inherent rights. Prostitution is the voluntary sale (or rental) of a labor service. Individuals own their own bodies and their own labor services and have the absolute right to decide how those labor services should be used. As long as the prostitution transaction is voluntary, there is no justification for governmental interference. Indeed, such interference constitutes an infringement of the privacy and personal liberty of the individuals involved.”

The founder of Sex Workers Outreach project (SWOP) has this to say: “Sex work most DEFINITELY is part of equal rights. The clients of sex workers are primarily men. The workers are all historically oppressed minority groups: Gay and Transgendered men, YOUTH, women and transgendered women. I have always seen sex work as a form of economic justice, and know many people who see it this way as well. On the sex positive side of things, there is a sexual liberation piece that is also worth celebrating for many of the same groups of people. Sex work has opened doors of healing, transformation, freedom and expression for many clients and providers since the beginning of time.”

But on the other hand, legalization of prostitution may have serious bad ripple effects across the nations as there is high tendency for human trafficking activities to increase which involves forcing children into prostitution and furthermore, in the case of Nigeria, there is high tendencies for the rate of ritual killing and kidnapping to increase. Activist like Virada Somswasdi said in a speech at Cornell Law School: It is about the violation of women’s human rights. Prostitution is not about women enjoying rights over their own bodies; on the contrary, it is an expression of men’s control over women’s sexuality. It is the hiring out of one’s body for the purposes of sexual intercourse, abuse and manifestations of undifferentiated male lust. It is about gendered, ethnic, age, racial and class power relations. By no means is it the ‘consent of two adults’, when one party is the buyer and the other the seller, especially when the buying party happens to be socially constructed as ‘the better sex’, ‘the better class’, ‘the more matured’, ‘the power- that- be’, ‘the more cultural polished’ or ‘the fairer skin’ etc.”

Executive Director of the Association Iroko Onlus wrote in October 2004 violence against women article titled “Trafficking for prostitution in Italy” argued that “The argument that regulation of prostitution better protects women in prostitution is deceptive. Prostitution itself is a form of violence against women and a negation of women’s fundamental human rights. Studies have shown that women in prostitution, whether in private apartments, hotel rooms, sex clubs, massage parlors, or in large megacenters of prostitution activities, still experience many forms of violence (Raymond et al., 2002). In a male-dominant culture, prostitution denies equality to women by treating the female body as an instrument of commerce.”

After considering both the arguments for and against sex workers’ rights, do you think the government should still consider legalizing the activities of the sex industry?

Politics / A Passionate Plea To Mr President From The Newly Recruited Immigration Officers by babino22: 4:38pm On Aug 28, 2015
DEAR MR PRESIDENT,

This letter is not written in a spirit of untruth or half-truths commonly published. Nor is it motivated in any way by political or tribal bias. It is written with respect due your office and the awesome tasks that have been laid on your shoulders.
We write as a patriotic citizen, as Nigerians who wants Nigeria to achieve her set dreams and wants a great future for his children and grandchildren.
A great man once said ” The youths are the future of a Nation. In their tender and loving hands, the future of the Nation is entrusted . In their innocent hearts , the pride of the Nation is enshrined. On their development, the salvation of the Nation is dependent”.
Mr. President, the youths are the nation builders, We believe you understand our frustration and
hardship as we continually struggle for gainful employment. We know you have faith in our ingenuity, capability and creativity, that is why you promised during your campaign to empower the youths and to create jobs for them.
As a result, we will draw your attention to our plights the Nigerian youths who were recently employed by the Nigerian Immigration Service after a rigorous recruitment process.
We are currently being threatened with the loss of our jobs following the recent suspension of Mr. David Parradang, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service. This has sparked fear among us the newly recruited officers and currently await your intervention in this matter because we believe in you.
We will like to shed light on some salient issues for the sakes of emphasis. It’s our humble side of the whole story .
As a result of the failed recruitment of march 15 of last year, that led to loss of 15 lives, the Federal Government set up a Committee known as The Presidential Committee to Assist in Immigration Recruitment which was constituted on 26th March, 2014 by the former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR. Youths all over the country applied, those who met the stated requirements were shortlisted for a Computer-Based Aptitude Test. The test was conducted by Dragnet, a firm that specializes in handling recruitment tests for reputable companies in Nigeria like Chevron, Oando and others. The test was conducted between 20th and 24th of April, in different locations across the country :Lagos, Abuja, Abu Zaria, ATBU Bauchi, UniPORT and IMT Enugu.
The candidates who passed the Computer-Based Aptitude Test were then asked to report to the Service Commands in their various states of origin for physical examination, document verification and oral interview. this also happened between the 5th and 7th of may,2015.
The successful candidates were selected based on their total scores, from the Computer-Based Aptitude Test, physical examination, document verification and oral interview within their state of origin, in a way that satisfied provision of Federal Character. We were then asked to report to the various training schools for preliminary documentation and collection of appointment letters on the 25th of May 2015. The Level 3 cadres (Immigration Assistants) reported to Ahoada in Rivers State, the Level 6 cadres (Assistant Inspectors) reported to Orlu in Imo State, while the level 8 cadres ( Assistant Superintendents) reported to Kano. The level 3 candidates (900 in number) and the level 6 (700 in number) were issued appointment letters while the level 8 candidates (400 in number) were given posting letters to their various Service Commands, signed by the Comptroller of Immigration Service (APU), Mr. Oyedeji TV, on behalf of the CGI. It reads: “I am directed to inform you that the above named newly recruited personnel has been posted to your command for attachment and induction with immediate effect, pending when they will be sent for training.
2.The letter of appointment will be sent in due course.
3.Please acknowledge receipt and date which the newly recruited staff reported to duty.”

The Assistant Superintendents were not given appointment letter because the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prison Board (CDFIPB) who are in charge of issues relating to appointment and promotion of officers in the superintendent cadre, refused to issue their appointment letters. All the 2000 candidates were documented and given Service Numbers.
It is therefore surprising that the reports we read in the National Dailies excludes the 400 recruited Assistant Superintendent Officers. They reported 1600 instead of 2000 officers that were recruited into the service
Mr. President, we want to confidently tell you that the recruitment process was free, fair, open and credible and that the successful candidates are the ones chosen on merit. we are therefore not surprised that perhaps some who could not field their candidates through the back door are aggrieved and wants the recruitment cancelled .
Besides, the 2000 recruited officers have undergone three months induction training in their various state commands. They have learnt some nitty-gritty of the job; they were taught among other things, how to strip and assemble fire-arms, the principles of marksmanship, weapon handling and combat mindset. They have been equipped and prepared for the job and are ready for service to their fatherland. They were only waiting to be called to their various training schools before they were dispersed and secretly sent home to avoid public outcry.
Your Excellency sir, I cannot forget that phenomenal day, when we all watched with enthusiasm our new president speak to us; where you said among other notable things: “Unemployment, notably youth un-employment features strongly in our Party’s Manifesto” which is to create at least 1million new jobs every year, for the foreseeable future. We are neither APC nor PDP members, we are Nigerian youths and upon this ground we plead you to confirm the appointment of these 2000 recruits, as it would reduce the number of the unemployed.
We trust your judgments as we hope to receive it in our favor.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Business / How Capitalism Will End In Nigeria by babino22: 12:55am On Aug 28, 2015
HOW CAPITALISM WILL END IN NIGERIA.

Capitalism is the highest form of human slavery, characterized with greed, economic class struggle, fierce competition, exploitation, individualism and oppression from the class controlling the means of production. Naturally, capitalism contains within itself conditions that would be detrimental to its own existence, and factors like large population, privatization of key sectors, technological advancement and alienation would only serve as key catalyst to how capitalism will end in Nigeria.

The general believe is that organizations and sectors owned and controlled by the government are not being managed effectively and efficiently because of the lackadaisical attitudes of civil servants towards work, thus the need to privatize. Instead of fighting corrupt government officials and employ measures to correct inappropriate attitudinal display on the part of the civil servants, the Nigerian government opted for privatization and privatized virtually all the sectors of the economy, including but not limited to the banking, electricity (power), communication, partly aviation, largely education sector, and presently the Lagos State government is even considering privatizing the state water board. Privatization breeds capitalism and it’s just a mirror reflecting the incompetence and impotency on the side of the government and her structures, the more we privatize, the more capitalist the economy become, entrusting the workers into the hands of self-centered bourgeoisie (capitalist).

Since the capitalist will always take decisions and measures to maximize profit and minimize cost, private institution in the banking sector through the aid of new technologies have being employing cost reduction measures by substituting human labor for machine, leaving them with only cost of servicing which minimizes cost than paying workers’ wages and salaries. For example, ATM machines receives deposits and can also dispense cash, online banking renders some cashiers and related workers useless and eventually jobless. Turning to the communication sector, the self-service platform which enable subscribers infer solutions relating to their line all alone, customer service agents are more of figure heads and are at the verge of being laid off so as to cut cost. Going to the education sector, National Open University which was resurrected in 2001 under the former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo shows it’s possible to graduate without employing lecturers, online lectures, online exams, and online certificates, all pointing to the fact that little labor is needed. Capping it with the power sector, meters distributions by the various new electricity companies will of cause render the workers at the ladder department unemployed if not fixed to other positions since its needless going about disconnecting; technology at work. Summing the various numbers of workers rendered useless by the capitalist with the underemployed and the unemployed, forms a large faction of Nigerian youths which hint that revolution is inevitable in Nigeria in time to come.

Statistics has it that in the nearest future Nigeria will be the third most populous nation on earth and going by the above premise, the unemployment rate will be so terrible and unbearable as the government will continue to privatized and capitalist continue to substitute labor for machine. In recent years unemployment have being increasing geometrically, 54% of Nigerian youth were unemployed in 2012 (NBS) while in 2014 CBN bulletin reveals that 70% of the 80 million Nigerian youths are either unemployed or underemployed despite the fact that the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics claims that the economy created 1.2 million jobs in 2013 fiscal year. The capitalist will leverage on this hyper-unemployment by placing high educational qualifications on machine supervising jobs and other activities the machine cannot execute, for example, placing Masters Qualifications for truck drivers with a very little remuneration.

This hardship will be perpetuated as citizens will still be subject to taxation and payments of reoccurring bills ranging from electricity, water, land use, refuse, tenement rate and some others that are yet to surface. This situation will force some pressure groups to emanate and fight against the inhumane activities of the capitalist and also pressurize the government to take back vital sectors of the economy, and give modalities for those still controlled by private owners on employee welfare. This group will also take radical actions to fight against corrupt officials in sectors and agitate for a social state where human rights are being respected and no such thing as working under pressure. This is the thesis of how capitalism will end in Nigeria.

Crime / What Is Your View On Torture? by babino22: 11:59pm On Jul 18, 2015
Arguments in Favor of the Torture Debate

First, there are a number of advantages to torturing terrorism suspects. Information obtained from terrorists is often incredibly time-sensitive. The information obtained through torture is used for a variety of purposes. If information is given about an attack taking place in the future, military and government officials can utilize that information in a timely manner to prepare for an attack. Torture allows officials to obtain the information in a timely fashion. Next, many argue that terrorists are deserving of some extra punishment as a result of all the death and misery that they have caused. Torture is a means of providing that extra punishment.
Torture is also justified by many because it is still relatively humane compared to what terrorists to do soldiers they capture themselves. Torture is considered a good method to turn to when needed information is not disclosed by terrorists. Lastly, when tortured, a subject may supply information that was not even requested by the interrogator. This information is often incredibly useful, but officials do not always know the right questions to ask.

Arguments Against the Torture Debate

While there are definitely some advantages for the torture of terrorists, there are also many disadvantages. Torture is considered by many experts as both impractical and ineffective. When people are tortured, the information supplied is often falsified; the person undergoing torture does not have an ultimate goal of supplying accurate information. Indeed, most torture victims are not even capable of giving accurate information. Instead, their main goal is simply to stop the torture in order to allow pain or stress levels to return to normal levels. Another disadvantage is the high rate of attrition among interrogators. It is hard to keep the interrogators psychologically sound when they partake in such difficult activities.
Other disadvantages in regard to the torture debate revolve around the psychology of interrogation regarding the subject of the questioning. Those undergoing interrogation and torture may consider themselves as heroes, not criminals. Interrogators who torture are perceived as dirty and immoral, making the subject even more resistant to yield information. Last, torture causes an array of negative opinions. Those who undertake practices involving torture are perceived as evil, swaying public and international opinion and potentially causing a great number of negative effects.

which side are you.

Police is your friend.

treat a Police Officer with respect and they will do as you want them. They are human beings like you and I.

#TeamNPF

pls stop that thing, the larger percentage of the police are people's enemy in disguise. they call what is black, white. killed alot of innocent bus drivers, arrested alot of innocent people at night. coming to arrest robbers in the night with their loud siren, i don't know if they actually expect the rubbers to still wait for them. Our police need iron hand and orientation.
