POC (point of correction), during the time of Jesus Christ, there were nothing like Smart phones, Camera or Social Media.

Why is it that people are not thinking right? Na wah ooo.

Not until we change our mentality, this country cannot move forward.

Hello Mum2bee
Any luck with this?

Mum2bee:
Hi all, i know I read somewhere that it's cheaper to book baby's ticket from naij. How do I go about this? I sent someone to British airways office in Lagos and it's like N60k plus. Which comes to about the same thing when I call them over the phone from here. Please help a mama who has not slept more than 2 hrs at a stretch in over a week
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by back2dmatter: 2:35pm On Oct 29, 2015
Thanks a lot Shawlar.

shawlar:
1) It was a one way ticket... They just attached it to his mother's itinerary
2)I gave them his passport info when booking the ticket but I don't think it was used.
3) There were no issues at all with the immigration peeps
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by back2dmatter: 10:22am On Oct 29, 2015
Thanks for your quick reply.

nefertitiram:
I used her US passport number to buy the ticket. After you get the ticket you send a copy to the agent to get the ETC.

Emirates airline

Modified:
No you don't need passport number to buy ticket. I only needed it to get dubaiconnecct from emirates

And you don't need passport number for ETC

In summary,
Processing the ETC is dependent on ticket and independent of the passport. Dre is no relationship
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by back2dmatter: 9:50am On Oct 29, 2015
Thank you Nef.

But please help clarify - for booking ticket for ur baby, was it her US passport number details dat was used or just her ETC?

And which airline?

Sori for the plenty qs...

nefertitiram:
For me o:
1; one way ticket
2: u use ur ticket n baby ticket to get the ETc
3: nobody at the airport checked anything only us passport, it is in Nigeria you tender the ETC. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A COPY
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by back2dmatter: 12:05am On Oct 29, 2015
Congrats shawlar

Please help answer these questions:

1) Did you buy a one way or return ticket for mini-shawlar to Nigeria?

2) Was his ticket booked using his US passport info or ETC or both?

3) Did the US immigration officials give you any issues on you using ETC rather than naija visa for ur baby's trip outside US

Please respond.

Thanks.

I have fought the good fight and I've finished the race…. - (@ least season 1 cheesy)

Dear N/landers, Many thanks for all your useful tips, suggestions and info. I have completed my tour of duty @ the front and returned home with the spoils... wink I received mini-shawlar’s ETC on Monday and flew back to Nigeria on Tuesday (20/10) using United. I had called them 2 days earlier to request a bassinet & they upgraded wifey and I to economy plus seats cos of that. They didn’t upgrade my mother’s seat though and when I got to the airport and requested for them to do so, the airline official said it’ll cost $159 huh. I just told her not to worry cos I could see the seating chart and realized there were lots of unassigned seats. At the end of the day, the flight was just over half-full and there were a lot of empty seats, so I just did self-upgrade wink grin.
The flight was smooth and uneventful. The immigration officer @ MMA II didn’t even ask for my baby’s documents;when she had finished stamping all 3 passports (mum, wifey & I), she just waved us along; I had to open the etc which was folded and wave it in her face saying ‘how about this?’ She went, ‘oh, for the baby?’ and then she took it, stamped and kept it. (I still have a photocopy though)

Special thanks to phema, favoredgal, nasadiva, nogen, anonymousmum and of course firstty, nefertitiram and the 3-star general - @olokings

Thank you Tvegas. You couldn't have said it better...

Tvegas:
After 3 threads and all the lengthy epistles, i dont expect anybody on this thread to withhold vital information or package answers at the Point of Entry. Dont forget that next time you visit the US they may want to check your receipts vis a vis your transcript. The Border officer that you will meet on your return to the USA may be one of those notorious ones transferred from Houston POE and they dont need introduction.

This thread was built on honesty and forthright answers and it should be encouraged to stay that way. Anything apart from that is an aberration and unnecessary risk. Best of luck to every expectant mum.

Nogen:
Olaideodes, it's well with you. So sorry about the bill and it's a lesson to everyone of us too. I have a free accommodation, free meal and free transportation and more helping hands at Maryland but I turned them down for El Paso because there's no medical all inclusive maternity package over there . This means the bill can skyrocket when there's any medical emergency. My inlaws were not happy with our decision but in the end they saw reasons with me.

When issues come up, you will be on your own. Always stick to decisions that will pay you in the end. May God provide for you speedily. Amen

One more thing! Never be ashamed to ask for a discount even when it is a fixed fee. You may be lucky to get some discounts because you are paying cash.
Dear Nogen
Please I sent you a pm.
Please respond.
Many thanks.

Morning house,Pls I have a question on behalf of a friend.
Her interview is slated for 10days after her white wedding and she"s wondering whether to say she's now married or still claim single lady as that's what she has on all her paperwork with the embassy.
She's 5months pregnant already and wants to go have her baby in Texas.

DIH right?

aolatunde00:
I'm not sure what the cut off mark is but they won't accept you if you are 34 weeks and above. They regard your pregnancy as high risk especially if:

1. You don't have a sonogram report done before 20 weeks or I think sometime during your first trimester.
3. Your doctor's report from Nigeria isn't comprehensive enough for them/does not contain certain information they need to ascertain your current status.
1. Before you get here, contact your prospective doctor(s), send them your records.
2. Be clear on the information they require. There are certain tests and sonograms they expect to be done at certain stages in your pregnancy and your Nigerian hospital may do things differently. So try talk to your Nigerian doctor about what you need done to find a middle ground

!

Thanks a lot Therese.i crammed this page cos I just knew I was going to come back to it.I started my ante-natal at 6wks in a hospital at Gra Ikeja.at exactly 24wks,the hospital changed location and lost my file in the process! To say I am upset is putting it mildly.
Now I have a doctor who's requested for my medical records so far(now 28wks) and I have nothing to send!!!
The Lagos doctor has said my "investigation reports could be retrieved and my history summarized" .whatever that means.
Pls could you or anyone in the house help with what exactly I should tell him my records at 29eks should include?
I'm heading to Denton Dallas and using Texas Presbyterian.
Thanks all.
