Finally and for the first time, we are on the same boat. Jehovah has no power to rain fire down.
@bolded only if you agree that this had nothing to do with God but his self-centred interest. God would not honor the words of a self-centered man as He did that of selfless Elijah who commanded fire to fall from heaven...and it happened as he said.

2 Kings 1:10 (KJV)

And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

Not everyone serves your god, and other religious folks also think their god is the one and only true god. That is why you should set religion /god aside when dealing with reality.
Respect people abeg.
The man did wrong because of his religious beliefs, it's something a lot of Christians would do.
See don't push me... You can continue deceiving yourself with all those foolish and ignorant ideas of yours, but it wouldn't change the Truth that God ought to come before everything else. I have already told you that the man was wrong and what he did had nothing to do with God because God instructs otherwise.

But if you want to continue being fooled and blinded by your anti-religious and anti-God sentiments your choice, not mine.

Let your god come first in your personal life. That's your choice.
When it involves others(religious or non religious), humanity should come first.
Don't mix your personal delusions with reality abeg.
God over everything, humanity including you. The man did very wrong. That is not God because God instructed us to help people in such situations even our enemies.

It's foolish to call the Truth delusions.

Everything small thing, "fire, fire fire" but none has fallen up til now to prove that it's nothing but just noise. This is certainly not about God but your self-centred interests

You're missing the point. undecided
The fact that you find it amusing for an atheist or unbeliever to be forced/made to take an oath, or confess in the name of something in order to receive help or avoid persecution, is the problem.
You're no different from terrorists who forcefully convert their victims.
It's sad that you didn't see the point the op made, and you had to say "that's the cross she has to carry for being an atheist", but you'll complain when Christians are being slaughtered in the north smh. What if we conclude that that's the cross one has to carry for being a Christian in the North?

Humanity should come first before religion or any god. It's only a fool that helps people based on their religious beliefs.
I have modified my post. I didn't read the full post before commenting.

God comes before anything else!

Chei ya. Sorry dear take heart. Take it as the cross that you ought to carry for Atheism sake. Kudos to you though for not given up the faith as some unfaithful men who were once atheists, but when persecutions arose because of atheism they dumped atheism in the gutter where it belongs, and became christians. Maybe they could borrow a leaf from you.

The man though must be no different from an atheist, because his actions were foolish and ignorant. He should know that one cannot be forced to accept Christ. It must be by choice! Otherwise you can say "Lord Jesus come into my heart" a million times, it would just be a waste of words. Look at you now, to prove that it's not by force. Some though would never learn...

Be polite bro. It's not supposed to be a fight na cool The reason why I answered for you is because you don't know the truth. You worship a godmate like you and erroneously call him your Almighty. As a matter of fact, Jehovah your god committed suicide in his last reincarnation into the earth.
I was polite when I first answered the question but it seems you were deaf and didn't hear me correctly that you're are still there talking nonsense. Hence I say it again to you, the answer to your question is "all of the above", but if you don't like the answer i gave you can go to hell and hang yourself dry. tongue

Are you sure your friend ran mad as a result of reading such book.
Please retrieve that particular one your said friend read and give to me
Yes he did... He was a cultist so one of his cult members gave him the book while he was in school. He didn't read it but left it on the table in his room at school to head back home. Only to find the book waiting for him when he got home. It made him go insane...It happened twenty years ago so it'd be pretty much impossible to get that same one now.
Religion / Re: A Speechless But Sincere Sinner's Prayer by BackllGodNaija: 8:03pm On Aug 02, 2020
So if you're a sinner who truly wants to repent and return to your Creator, you don't have to repeat any words after me, but from your heart you can talk to God in a way that's unique to you and Him. That's all you need to saved and for your name to be written in the book of Life.
Religion / Re: A Speechless But Sincere Sinner's Prayer by BackllGodNaija: 9:05am On Aug 02, 2020
Moreover it can be very misleading because I can't remember how many times I came out for alter calls and repeated such prayers with my mouth even though I didn't mean it from my heart. But those who saw me come out and made such confession with my mouth, may have believed a soul had been saved, even though in heaven there was no record of such a thing because it wasn't true.

But the day I said the sinner's prayer with my heart, it was in a Christian meeting but I didn't even come out or repeat any such words, so it would be hard for any one there to have known what had taken place there except I told the person. But heaven bore witness that a new soul had been saved, because it was genuine and came from my heart, and this is close to twenty years now since that day my name was written in the book of Life.

So I believe a sinner's prayer is better said spontaneously like in the instance of the woman with the alabaster box, who could utter no words with her mouth but just weeping, because it's hard a times to compose one's self and say anything when one comes to the realization of the Truth.

Hence a sinner's prayer could be speechless like hers, or it could be like that sinner who felt unworthy to look up to heaven but could just say, "Lord have mercy on me a sinner" that Jesus said was more justified than the Pharisee whose utterances were more composed and premeditated. Luke 18:10-14

It could like that of Zacchaeus who said, "half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold", unto whom Jesus said "this day salvation is come until this house". Luke 19:8-9

Or it could like the case of a man called Jim, who sinner's prayer was, "Jesus, it's Jim." And when Jim was incurably sick to the point of death and needed divine help, Jesus said, "Jim, it's Jesus."

As long as it comes from the heart, that's all God requires for sinner's prayer to be accepted by Him, and for the name of the sinner to be written in the book of Life.

God bless Nigeria

Some may say but it written in the bible "with the mouth confession is made unto salvation", but this instance proves that's the input of man not God, because God doesn't need the confession of the mouth to hear a sinner's prayer since He could hear the confession of the heart. It's man that needs that.

Moreover God cannot say that salvation requires confession from man's mouth, knowing fully well that it would deprive those who can't speak with their mouth (the dumb) the right to salvation which He made available to all those who are willing to receive it. Hence why God requires just the confession of the heart, because that makes it possible for every single human being to be saved.

But because many still believe that confession must be made with the mouth of a sinner because the person can be saved, they're eager to get sinners to make confession with their mouths unto salvation by telling them to repeat a well crafted prayer after them. And there's nothing wrong with that if such a confession was made from the bottom of the sinner's heart.

However I opine that a sinner's prayer is better said devoid of any external input and rather spontaneous, because I believe it's crucial how one begins his salvation journey, as that sets the tone for the rest of the way. So if someone is able to have that one on One conversation with God without having to depend on someone else, it would be easier to continue on that path.

Perhaps that would help reduce the rate at which people depend on those they call "men of God", to the extent that they'd go contrary to God's instructions to observe theirs.

A Speechless But Sincere Sinner's Prayer

It appears many think it's impossible to say a sinner's prayer that acceptable to God without uttering it with the mouth and lips, but the instance of the woman with the alabaster box in Bible shows that's not necessarily true.

Luke 7:37-38, 48, 50

And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

So the sinner in the above passage said her sinner's prayer with no words coming out of her lips and mouth but just her heart, but it was a sincere sinner, hence Jesus immediately acknowledging it to show that it had been approved of by God in heaven.

This proves that a sinner's prayer doesn't need to be uttered by one's lips and mouth to be accepted by God, but it must be sincere and come from the heart. Once that happens, it gets heaven's seal of approval.

Thank you Father. Covid-19 related Cases and deaths in Nigeria are significantly reducing.

It's so glaring that Lagos State which was the epicentre of related Cases and death in the country now has courage to announce the opening of worship centres this weekend.

Thank you because we believe that in no time, it would be zero deaths and cases in the nation. Amen.

You know, I must admit, you made a very good point with that comparison.
Guess I didn't see that coming.
So yeah, you're right on this one.
Same here with the bolded fmas I admitted in the Op I didn't even have any idea what to answer to this question when you asked that morning...it was only after I started my prayers that morning that the answers began to come...that's usually the time I get a lot of answers to questions as such, revelations, ideas etc. so it was the norm for me. So it's not me oh but God who gave me this answer to your question.

By the way, kudos to you...you earn my respect for acknowledging this. Take care.
