I once drove down to his shop to inspect a Peugeot 406 E-10, ash colored, posted here sometime ago. I'd thought to change mine because I'd used it for over 3 years and I did not want issues of wear and tear to catch up with me. I still love 406. His car was looking clean and he had been firm on the price from our phone conversation earlier plus he said it was buy and drive. Upon inspection, being someone who had used the same model well,I knew what to look out for. The car failed ALL my tests so I respected myself and refurbished mine. Mine was practically toks in comparison! His customer service was excellent though,I must confess. These stories coming up are really sad. |
No no no,Angel,we don't agree. As a fellow reading stakeholder on this thread, I protest in earnest. You have technically infringed upon my right to read your story and you have a moral obligation to finish this, even for the sake of posterity. Haba, after all my waiting all these midnights? Beautiful piece of work. The suspense is killing. I believe writing is your purpose in life(or at least very high up in the list). Well done. Meanwhile, continue.............I think I've over-refreshed this page! |
Location and condition please..... |
Elrufai has issued out jobs for the renovation /rehabilitation of schools accross Kaduna State, water tanks, boreholes and school furniture inclusive. As at last count, over N5 billion worth of tight-profit contracts(as verified from some contractors) have been awarded with 50% mobilization and strict control measures put in place. The contractor names/schools/award amounts are pasted on the public notice board at the State Ministry of Education for all to see. He has employed qualified teachers across board and engaged tailors and food vendors to attend to the needs of these kids. From research conducted by consultants before commencement of the projects, Kaduna State has over 5,000 schools. I dont know which of these 5,000 schools the op has posted but believe me, I've seen schools in much worse conditions in the state. Some state-owned schools ration two mud rooms for all classes in batches, with mud bricks as chairs and boards painted with charcoal for God's sake! In all fairness, I think we should give it up for him on the strides taken in the educational sector so far. |
shameseun:Don't know how it works at Diamond Bank presently, considering the fact the bank now has a self appraisal software put in place. Way back then it was subjective, your supervisor was just called from Head Office and asked to nominate candidates for sack. God help you if you are not in your supervisors good books, even if you scored 100%. You won't even know when it happens. You just resume 7:15am, try logging in without success and after several attempts you call IT,telling them your system has issues and they put you on hold. 30 minutes later, you get the call advising you to resign. In shock, you scribble the letter and pass on to your back stabbing supervisor who feigns ignorance. Much later you get to know the truth. To my mind, the hardest part for someone in bank operations is acclimatization with the real world. After working without leave like a robot from 7am to 9pm for years,in a high efficiency environment, the real world seems so slow and inefficient. You keep wondering why everyone around you is ineffective. You also realize, due to excessive sweating when outdoors, that the air conditioned environment has conditioned your body. It also takes days to get used to sunlight.Your feeding habit totally distorted. With time, the truth dawns on you...you were just a name and I.D. number to the bank. Your feeling of indispensability due to your efforts and dedication was just an illusion. The branch moved on smoothly without you. All those bank pallies you thought you had dont even call to ask how you are doing. The customers who previously called you from morning till night stop calling when they realize you are out. You are alone...pained..wondering if everything was worth it. The point of this epistle is for those of us still working for corporations to constantly have it at the back of our minds that the job is just a means to an end and not an end in itself, unless of course your family owns the enterprise, which in itself does not exist in perpetuity. You are ultimately responsible for your life. Do not expect anyone to plan it for you. Prepare for the jungle and chose what part of the food chain you want to play. Don't be deceived, sooner or later, you will enter that jungle. As they say, life is a joke. You are either laughing or being laughed at. Your choice. |
Nova15:Good question. Perhaps the HR people in the house can help with this. I was affected by the first tsunami way back 2007 under exactly same circumstances. In fact, my name was on the next long overdue promotion list as ascertained and seen by my previous supervisor, only to receive the log-in shocker! I think it has something to do with the way the acceptance letter by the bank is worded. I had issues with virtually every subsequent bank interview attended before I ventured into entrepreneurship. It's not been all smooth sailing, I must confess, but that 'sack' was the best thing that happened to me because God had better plans for me. For instance, when your former boss, a full manager (rank) back then and other colleagues keep running to you for loans and support, you realize God's grace upon your life. Right now, in all modesty, financially speaking, the only levels I could accept in same bank is ED and above, ..I'll gladly pass on any position below this....the journey has been long, tedious and rewarding. God has been faithful. |
ninovandross:O boy na wah for you! Did you have a bad dream? See how you just woke up 2am in the morning brandishing two guns and shooting randomly in another person' battlefield. Are you a mercenary(lol).....free the guy. To my mind, his response was epic and very smart. It's now you and Nkoli left in the boxing ring...I see you both have like tempers. Enjoy. |
Suigeneris93:Hmmmm....new pot calling old kettle black....'typo error' is tautology. You either chose one or the other, not both. We learn every day but ,I agree, she no try at all with her typos . ( I come in peace o!) |
emmancipated:Good old days. We called it Borris. Used it to scatter the sitting room floor when pops banned us from playing outside. But mine were newer models. Had wooden seats and steering controls made of metal hanger. ![]() |
Hmmm......a 'match' in defence of democracy. |
RollingStones:So,in a lighter mood, what you are saying is: 1. Hell - Buhari is a TERRORIST = Rufai 2. Buhari is a TERRORIST + Rufai = Hell , Hypothesis by RollingStones. |
Expatiate more on where your passion lies...is it in delivering beautiful POP jobs or carrying out the installation yourself? These are two different things. In any case, for both, you must have a good idea of the fundamentals and be well grounded to partake in this field. The most pragmatic way you will get this by making friends with POP installers so you learn on their job. Those from Togo and Cotonou are good options. Will be much cheaper for you and you will have first hand experience. Trust me ...was once in your shoes. Where are you based?

[quote author=gbadexy post=35793659]increase the calcium carbonate content till you get the desired sheen. Thanks for your prompt response. My initial formulation had no calcium carbonate. Luckily for me, I had some left over by my screeder and I tried it out. The sheen reduced but now I am getting slight texture on the wall. I tried diluting the paint and applying it thin by dry rolling but the coverage gets affected and the texture from the calcium carbonate is still noticeable. I can't seem to get the smooth surface I initially got without the calcium carbonate included which I prefer, if not for the high sheen. I'm looking to achieve a very smooth, flat finish like the Dulux Trade matte. I'm wondering.......this more durable acrylic binder you earlier mentioned is used in external paint formulations.......what exactly is it? Can it substitute for the PVA in my formulation without giving me a sheen or does it also give sheen like PVA? Plus, is there any material that could be added to my initial formulation to kill the sheen completely without affecting the paint quality? Thanks for your time and best regards. |
@ gbadexy. I have learnt a lot from this thread. Unfortunately, I am not in Lagos otherwise I would have attached myself to you as PA for a year to learn even more from your vast knowledge. I tried out some practicals to produce a drum of quality paint for my sitting room, with 3 Kg Titan and 5 Kg PVA amongst others, as seen in your post. It came out nicely but I have an issue with the shine. It's too much for me. How do I get rid of the shine? A friend says perhaps the PVA content is too much. Plus, the PVA I saw in the market is liquid like pap, not paste ,as stated earlier in this thread. I am trying to get a finish like the Dulux trade matte. What do I do? Kindly advice. Thanks in advance. |
autotrader014:Is this still available? Plus, can you source me a Toyota Landcruiser, 2008 model, V8? |
Hello. I need a paint shaker ( 1 gallon to 5 gallons capacity) and an automatic colorant dispenser complete with operating software and manuals, preferably Hero or Corob models. Durable and reconditioned ones are an option for me, especially those compatible with the voltage ratings in Nigeria. They should not be bottom rung models and not top of the range also. I am also interested in purchasing very durable dry wall sanding machines. You could mail me at wallfinishtechnologies @ yahoo.com for further clarifications if needed. Thank you. |
How is it powered pls? |
Good day all. How do I get effective home study aids on learning french please? |
saxywale: depends. It would greatly reduce your mobility and flexibility. Your first commitment would be to your spouse.I support this position. It gets even more reduced as the kids come along. |
Felt a large void....was at work when I heard of the Emab Plaza bombing. Promtly went to Nairaland for details but no show...foolish me...kept on reloading tab severally instead of googling for details.....was when I noticed some very old stories were on frontpage I realized something was amiss. |
