abduleez1:Calling Blue Eye Samurai a masterpiece is a stretch... A big stretch... Isn't this the same show where a lit candle was on the floor, and fell during a battle. Which caused a fire that burnt down an entire palace? Nevertheless, it's a really good show |
abduleez1:You are 100% entitled to your opinion and I respect it. However since you brought up some areas, I want to comment on them... First of all, what version of Superman is "canon" to the comics? When you claim this Superman is for comic book fans, it's hard to get what you mean because as far as I am aware, Synder's version is also for comic fans since there are so many variations of the character... Also, I recall saying from my preview of the trailers that it seemed to be a movie that "humanized" Superman...and made him more vulnerable... I thought that was a good idea and I still think it could have been... But after watching the movie, I think it was a good idea that was taken way too far that it became bad. I cringed hard at the whole Superman's speech to Lex that he was just as human as the rest of us... because he wasn't. The entire speech seemed like it was written by someone on Wattpad...that was how bad it was... especially coming from Superman... I think somewhere in the middle of Synder and James Gunn's versions would have worked better...instead Gunn made a character that was almost opposite of what Synder did... Just like how Synder took his version of Superman too far, James Gunn did the same in the opposite direction... To make matters worse, Superman in this movie became a street level superhero getting beaten by every tom, dick and Harry... Maybe that is also comic accurate? Also, I really have nothing to go on with Lois Lane since the movie starts with her character arc already completed... I don't know how her relationship and chemistry with Superman was great to you. There was really nothing to go by for me. Their entire relationship arc had been completed off-screen before the movie began, but we are supposed to somehow care about it? While we all knew this movie was not going to be an origin story, the effects of the lack of an origin story affected immersion in the movie. It made it hard to care for or fully understand the motives of characters whose arc were completed before the movie began. It was hard to care about his relationship with Lois Lane since it was not built, same as the motives of Lex Luthor. His envy was built upon the premise that Superman "took his shine". But we never saw Superman do that, we don't see Superman's rise as a symbol, we are simply told he did. That makes it hard to care about Lex Luthor and "understand" the character or where he is coming from...even if we ultimately disagree with him... In other words, Lex Luthor became nothing more than a shallow figurehead character who simply exists that way because there has to be a Lex Luthor... This is the character that is our main antagonist. To make matters worse, Gunn's idea of a smart Lex is him calling out random alphabets and digits to his goons while predicting Superman's moves... It felt like a 9 years old kid's idea of a smart character... At the end of the day, my investment would have been much better if the movie didn't start with completed arcs... It made it hard to get invested in several characters and even pivotal parts of the story that were mostly dependent on the "completed arcs" Knowing beforehand that the movie was not an origin story doesn't make it better. Especially because the entire "verse" before it was rebooted and this is the new canon. |
TemporaryHansel:Rotten Tomatoes scores are based on recommendations. Basically each critic decides whether the movie is fresh (would recommend) or rotten (would not recommend). The aggregate scores/percentage is what determines it's totamoe score. Even I who gave it a 5/10 would still recommend it. It doesn't mean I think the movie is great |
TemporaryHansel:Let me just drop this here btw... (Image...manga is read as Right to Left and not Left to Right) When you're ready, we will do a deep dive into his conversation with Reiner as well...
|
TemporaryHansel:No problem... I'll be waiting |
TemporaryHansel: ![]() I love how you didn't provide any basis for this ![]() Your entire analogy of Eren consists of a small part of a longer conversation with Armin. Further parts of the same conversation shows a more concise part of Eren's character...which I stated... Even other conversations like the ones with Reiner, Zeke and Ramzi reinforce that... |
armadeo:As expected ![]() |

TemporaryHansel:Here's my understanding of Eren and why I don't entirely agree with your post- Eren's primary motivation for the Rumbling is his idea of freedom. Even from childhood he was obsessed with it and he was ready to destroy anything that tried to restrict him... That's why he killed the kidnappers that kidnapped Child Mikasa in season 1 and called them "less than animals" When Armin showed him his grandfather's book, he saw the beauty of the outside world ..the ocean, the mountains etc and associated that plain blank slate as his idea of what freedom entails... He associated the walls and the Titans as things restricting him from acheiving freedom. The problem with these ideals is that such freedom cannot exist in either our world or the AOT world. And that flaw became apparent when they reached the basement in season 3 and discovered that outside the walls were full of enemies... Eren ascribed these enemies outside the walls as those restricting his freedom... He was in his words "disappointed" and chose to destroy them... This is his fundamental motivation for the Rumbling... Not to make his friends heroes or to end the Titan curse, but to destroy those who restricted his idea of freedom... Eren loved his friends no doubt, he wanted to protect Paradis as well as end the Titan curse... But that selfish motivation is what drove him forward... That is why at the finale, even after Eren told Armin the "benefits" of his actions and being stopped by his friends, Armin called him out. There was no justification for his actions...there was no good lesson for humanity to learn from it as well except to kill or be killed... Eren himself realizes this...he knows he is acting more out of selfish interest, that's why he breaks down and calls himself "a slave to freedom". That's why he calls himself "an idîot" who had too much power and makes a selfish choice that dooms 80% of humanity... In other words, Eren's friends being heroes were a result of his actions and their own choices to stop him, not his original intention. Recall when they went to the paths and he told them "they had freedom to choose whether to stop him or not. That in order to achieve freedom, he would take freedom from the world, but take nothing from his friends" Further proof of this...in the manga, Eren said that even if he didn't know he would be stopped, he would have fully completed the Rumbling. In other words, he fully intended to complete the Rumbling if he wasn't stopped. The choice of his friends led to the outcome at the ending: 1. His friends became heroes and lived long lives free of war 2. The Titan curse ended due to Mikasa's choice to accept her love while doing the right thing 3. Paradis had a chance with 80% of the outside world gone. But his actions were never framed as being right as it did not stop the Yeagerists from taking over Paradis. Even after his friends died and the world rebuilt, wars continued as it's part of human nature... I don't want to write more, but Eren's conversation with Reiner in Marley (declaration of War), Eren's admission to Zeke in the paths (Memories of the future) and Eren's confession to Ramzi (the kid during the Rumbling) go further to reinforce his selfish motivations

It feels like the standards for Superhero Comic Book Movies are so low right now that any movie that is not outright terrible slop is called "good" This has been the case with Thunderbolts and Superman so far... By no decent standards can these movies be called good. It seems the audience already have their expectations set at a minimum that they will gladly take anything that isn't outright terrible... |
Superman (2025).... 5/10 Worth watching if you have nothing better to do... This is more of a rant than a review... The movie was all over the place.... It didn't feel like a Superman movie at all... The whole speech Superman made to Lex Luthor about how he was just as human as everyone else (which was supposed to be the highlight of the movie) That speech has to be one of the worst speeches I've ever heard in a comic book movie. It was cringe af.. It was probably the second worst scene in the movie for me... The whole drama about whether the restored tapes were legit or edited and the public's reaction to it felt like something written by a 9-years old kid... It was so comical and laughable that I wondered if I was supposed to take that part seriously... The fact that a major part of Superman's conflict was that poorly written shows how low the standards are for CBMs today... Yeah...in a world where superbeings exist, where you can literally open a rift and blackhole...where nanotech exists...where a single strand of hair can clone an entire being with similar powers... A random slander video was released and it's immediately believed by everyone without a second thought... Yes it turns out the video was actually legit...but the reaction to it was nothing short of comical... Don't get me started on Lex Luthor's character when the entire movie seemed written to ridicule him... The writer's idea of Lex Luthor being smart was to call out random C3, F6 etc lmao... Superman in the movie would legit lose to Spiderman...that's how weak and utterly useless he was... The movie just felt like another average superhero slop... The actors are likeable but the writing is not... I like the Justice Gang and Supergirl... I expected so much from this movie but I was left very disappointed...
|
oyaskii:Honestly I felt like writing a review when I completed the movie around 2am on Sunday... But the movie didn't feel worth it to me... I was greatly disappointed...surely this movie isn't the best thing CBM can offer this year? |
nani667:The Superman in that movie would lose to homelander honestly |
Man of Steel is far better than Superman 2025. With all the hype on that movie...I was expecting much more... All I got was a weak Superman with so many political issues that I wasn't given a reason to actually care about. And a Lex Luthor driven so much by envy that I struggled to actually take him as a serious Antagonist. I feel like there is a lot they could have done with Lex...but his motivations were quite underwhelming...maybe that is what James Gunn was going for...idk But the movie was very average. And made for little kids... It's really starting to piss me off when superhero movies can barely show any blood despite the scale of the battles and no one actually dies... Somehow it doesn't matter what happens, Superman can save the day with 0 casualties. Truly a movie made for kids |
I just had to

Ne Zha (2019).....9/10
|
BlackManta:Did you watch Ne Zha 1 in English dub? Which would you recommend? Sub or Dub? |
blingxx:Seen the first two episodes and downloaded the third... I will watch that one on Monday |
abduleez1:Watched it years ago... |
abduleez1:What movie is that? |
Osebanjo:This Bernal agenda should rest. He is not yet who you think he is. He has not shown anything that shows he deserves to start over any of our other first-team midfielders yet. For me, he is currently in last place |
AirBere:I've been saying it... The only thing De Jong does is to hold possession... He can't create chances, can't shoot, can't defend, can't tackle... |
Derumklala12:Deco must be moving màd Bernal is overhyped af... He played just 3 league matches and suddenly some people think he's better than Cassado. Cassado that performed against the likes of Bayern. |
TemporaryHansel:I have only watched AOT from start to finish once. But I have seen pretty much all the episodes at intervals like 2 more times... The 50+ times I've seen AOT is through watching reaction channels on YouTube. It's mostly for the discussion and hearing people's thoughts and opinions about the show and different plot points on the show...including their predictions and all... And yes I am obsessed with AOT. It became my obsession when the final season aired |
TemporaryHansel:It's okay... You can never get tired of peak fiction. I've seen AOT over 50 times now through reaction channels on YouTube.
|
I haven't been following box office for a while now.... So apparently Fantastic Four is a flop despite all the hype.... Wow... |
abduleez1:I get he's a superstar, but only one man taking the entire budget of movies. This is no longer sustainable in today's cinema market... |
Colson:Tbh I thought he was like 33 or something... If he's 29, we can certainly keep him for 3 more seasons at least. I don't know what Deco is thinking |
Samistry2:I am not into kpop. It's a Hollywood movie with inspiration from kpop music |
Kpop Demon Hunters (2025)....8/10 Premise: A world-renowned K-Pop girl group balance their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters. It took 3 attempts before I could watch this movie. But I'm glad I gave it another try. The movie is good. I can see why it's breaking records at Netflix

Cubarsi and Araujo cannot play together. Too much inexperience. Christensen or Inigo Martinez must start every game.... Hector Fort should be our 3rd choice RB or go on loan/be sold Gerard Martin should sub in some games as LCB. He can make use of his pace there especially since Martinez and Christensen are old. |
