The movie was neither good nor realistic.

It is a good movie because it achieved what it set out to achieve. I didn't call it a masterpiece. I didn't call it great. It has many very noticeable flaws but the movie was able to evoke emotion amongst its viewers and portray the struggles of a black single-mom in America...albeit in an over-the-top manner...

Realism is subjective when it comes to movies...
There is a certain level of suspension of belief depending on the movie...

While most of the movie is grounded, it is also clear that some things were made unrealistic for dramatic effect...and this was made clear from the onset not late in the movie...

From the overly evil/inhumane nature of many characters to the coincidence of so many things going wrong on the same day...

As a result, I was able to somewhat suspend my belief when the police and FBI acted irrationally from their first appearance, when the crowd suddenly showed up to support an insane woman because they "identified with her struggle" and when many characters kept misinterpreting various things like the toy project being a bomb...

There are many flaws in the movie but I'll still give it a rating on the positive side because it achieved what it set out to achieve...

Straw is a solid 7.5/10 for me.

One of the best and most realistic movies i have seen this year.
Anytime Tyler Perry and Taraji comes together, they make greatness.

I have always said this and i will keep saying it that Taraji is one of the most naturally talented actress i have ever seen, she is just so wonderful especially in playing roles like this.
This movie tells you about the struggle of some single moms in USA and the world in general, it tells you about police brutality on black people in USA, it tells you about how life could change for some people in a moment and above all, it teaches you to be nice with strangers because you don't know what the next person might be going through so it is very very important to be nice.

While I agree it's a good movie,
"Realistic" is not the term I would use to describe this movie...

We must have watched a different movie...

G20 is one of the worst movies I've seen in 2025...

I know media is subjective but calling that movie a 10/10 is an insult to media

The series is the live-action of kakegurui anime and it’s about gambling and Netflix really try in the story and the main character really did great, she’s completely an anime in reality

but my issue is some of the cast, Netflix added black character, Fat character and gay character too

Rather than an adaptation, it seems to be more of an inspiration that takes several things from the source material (manga) and makes open changes.

For instance the main character's goal of revenge was only revealed much much later in the manga and so it wasn't even in the anime. But the Netflix show reveals it pretty early on

I watched both seasons this year so I’ll rate Season 1. 7/10 and Season 2. 4.8/10

Season 1 was no doubt better than season 2...

Season 1 is at least a 9/10 imo...

Season 2 was a 7/10 imo...

A lot of moments in season 2 felt rushed with character motivations sometimes all over the place...but it was still a good watch...

Season 1 on the other hand was epic throughout...
The character writing was brilliant...

That's not true. Shishio Makoto was careful to face the current Kenshin. He wouldn't even risk it not to talk of fighting prime Kenshin. Prime Kenshin was a beast.

"prime Kenshin" didn't complete his training.

He didn't even have the ultimate move he later used to defeat Shishio Makoto tho...

Sure, current Kenshin is rusty...but Shishio Makoto is no joke...

This man was shot multiple times and his body burnt...yet he still survived...

That arc and especially the final battle was even far more epic in the anime...

Honestly you should watch that arc in the anime even if you don't watch the full series...

Btw I advice you watch the anime OVA called Trust and Betrayal...

It basically tells the story of Kenshin's past and how he got his scars...
It's just 4 episodes I believe...

Some fans of the anime/manga are not happy with the trailer. As someone who hated the anime when I watched it in 2020, I am actually looking forward to the Netflix adaptation...maybe it will renew my interest in it.
