Phantom (2023) ............ 7.8/10 (Korean movie)


Synopsis:
"An action-espionage film set in 1933, during the Japanese colonization of Korea. The film will tell the story of five suspects who are under suspicion of being the mysterious “Phantom” a spy for the anti-Japanese resistance. Trapped inside an isolated hotel to be interrogated, the five characters must use their wits to fight to escape while also suspecting and doubting one another."



Didn't really enjoy the final quarter of the movie as much... otherwise it would be rated higher...

I generally love Korean movies set during Korea's freedom fighters' fight for independence against Japan.

Any movie set during this time period is always good...

WHITELIGHTER:
The choice of musicals were off totally.

Western directors always see the need to include Western music...

And Western music that has lyrics is terrible for shows in most cases

Honestly I just lost interest. The plot didn't hold my attention also maybe how It looked.

I think you should have given it time...

The plot looks simple at first but gets extremely complex when more is revealed...

For example, you'd start suspecting from episode 1 that those robots called Evas aren't actually robots...

Binged the entire show in a single day...
Thoroughly enjoyed this...

It seems I'm the first person to watch this on this thread...so I won't go into in-depth review or avoid spoiling


Anyway, it basically follows a family of shinobi...
After losing their oldest son six (6) years ago during a mission in a fight with a rival clan, the head of the family attempts to make the rest of his family live like a normal family to avoid another loss...

The show mostly tackles the family balancing their family life with their shinobi life and it's rules...
It focuses on the convenience and inconvenience of the do's and do not's of a shinobi lifestyle...
A life bound by rules...

The part of the show that didn't work as much for me was the music tbh...I don't think Western music fits the Japanese show

I'm majorly directing it to some fans and some deluded Barca board members when we haven't played tiki talkless of taka in the last 5 yrs.

Tbh, I took it up for the other plot, but right now I don't even care for the other plot. The main story itself is interesting, enjoying the show.

Well i never really cared for this franchise past the first 1, Ryan Reynolds as brilliant an actor as he his, is too "repetitive" for me.

I think they will fight every minute and for every stupid reason. Reading Deadpool vs Old Man Logan will give you an idea of what their banter will be like.

Super obvious that they will fight and damage each other so many times...both can heal anyway...

But at the end they will work together to defeat the villain of the movie.

The exact reason why i am easily weaned off K-drama sphere, 20 plus episodes with 1hr plus runtime per episodes is just so herculean to chow through!. Evermore so in this "tik tok" infested era that the average attention span is like 30 secs!.

I have noticed recently that they are now doing 8 episodes run, with a 45 minutes episode run time. They should stick to that!.

Personally I prefer shorter seasons too
But Moving never feels boring even with 20 episodes tbh...


When you watch the show, you'll understand why 20 episodes were needed...
It has shifts forward and backwards in time...with a lot of story behind the cast...

This is one anime show I've been quietly watching this season...
It's a really good historical drama...

Premise:
"Set in a fictional country based on Imperial China, the series follows Maomao, a young girl working as an apothecary in the red-light district, who is kidnapped and sold to the Imperial Palace as a servant. However, she still retains her curious and eccentric personality and plans to work there until her years of servitude are over, without drawing the attention of anyone. One day, after hearing rumors that the emperor's children are critically ill, she begins to investigate the cause, using her experience as an apothecary, and successfully solves the mystery of their illness. Even though she intends to remain anonymous, her actions eventually catch the attention of an influential eunuch, and soon finds herself solving various mysteries for the royal court."

I think we do to an extent...we have players who are good at holdup play...not as much as City but it can work...

On the wings we have Yamal and Felix who can retain the ball and draw fouls...I don't think Ferran can do that cos he's more direct tho...
But retaining the ball isn't technically the same thing as pushing back the defence. This is where Felix will struggle since he isn't used to staying wide...

It will still work if we have even just one winger pushing the line. Sometimes City play with Foden on the RW and Foden doesn't push the line but Doku or Grealish does it...
The RW only gets pushed in these cases by Walker


But we also have players like De Jong, Pedri and Gundogan in midfield who can hold the ball and distribute it.

Our issue will also be our defence. I'm not sure how well players like Araujo can hold up play. But he can remain at the back while the other CB can occasionally move up the pitch.

For it to work, our midfielders will constantly need to move around and make runs into the box...
They also need to press as well immediately possession is lost...

Lewandowski doesn't really press but even at City, Haaland doesn't press as much too but people like Alvarez and their midfielders make up for it

I believe all of these can be done through training...it's up to the coach
