O'boy I for add Junior and Pretty put for the list. . .

Maybe you should just make the list top ten, cos all the albums you mentioned as well influenced the rap game.
Music/Radio / Re: Mode Over Premier Mixtape - The Way by BajaGold(m): 10:13am On Mar 11, 2009
See me thinks Mode should consider a career in ghost writing. . . He'll probably make a mint off it, the way Mos Def & Kweli do for Diddy.

does MTV know anything about hiphop?if they do know they will be playing more of nas videos than soulja boy, and beside lil wayne was the best rapper according to MTV.

grin grin grin

Weezy was for the 'hot right now' ish. When they did the all time list it was Jigga.

But then. . .  they all play that soulja boy, D4L crap now adays. . .
I'd give anything for the days of YO! MTV raps. I remember going to video clubs in hot lasgidi sun just to keep up.

Damn.

Bamsyle:

. . . I just decided to limit my ratings to delivery, wordplay and lyrics . . .

Why? Cos all those "swagger, punchlines, metaphors, breath control" that you mentioned are all offsprings of either Wordplay, Lyrics, or Delivery. Check it - are swagger (not in showmanship this time) and breath control not felt in Delivery??; are metas and punchlines not part of Wordplay and Lyrics

I'm tired of so-called 'hip hop heads' always complicating issues . . . metas, punchlines, rhyme scheme, metre, bla bla bla . . . why expand issues when the whole darn thing can be compressed

Well . . . all said and done . . . Mode is still the better of the two . . . my opinion.

If it make's it easier for you to limit your ratings because it involves Mode9 then fair play to you. . . but there's a reason why when MTV did their top ten MC's dead or alive each was categorized on it's own. . . And no, I don't claim to know more than the dudes at MTV.

So you should forward your greviance about 'so-called hiphop heads expanding issues' to them.

As you're insinuating that because it involves Mode9 we should judge by different standards.

All said and done I disagree that Mode9 is better based off your arguments. . . but like you said we're all entitled to our individual opinions.
Music/Radio / Re: Modenine And Mi:which Do You Prefer? by BajaGold(m): 11:52am On Mar 10, 2009
Bamsyle:

So how do I vote Should I vote based on their trademark abilities

Alright . . . Lyrics Mos' def Mode9.

Wordplay Hmm, MI's good on that . . . but by Jove, Mode even does more wordplay (cop more of his stuff and listen!) . . .

Delivery MI.

Mode wins.

This is as flawed an argument as I've ever seen,  Mode 9 is a punchline rapper,  he's not a lyrical emcee.
Ever heard the phrase. . . "you made it a hot line, I made it a hot song"

Punchline rappers are revered in the hood but it rarely translates into commercial success. . . see Cassidy, Gillie the kid, E-ness, Big L, Talib kweli. . .

Lyrical emcees transcend the hood and do well commercially without loosing their lyrical ability. . . see Jigga, Biggie, Eminem. . .

Even though you rate mode highly (and i do too) fact remains there's more to an emcee than wordplay and lyrics. His swagger, punchlines, metaphors, breath control all come into effect,

So while mode9 may have numerous quotables, he still can't make a hot song!

Beedazzled:

this track's just the theme song for the 2009 ed of the Hiphop World Awards,
i fink Naijs jus criticize too much, rather than praise n encourage.
mefinks everyone repped well on the track,
kel's doing really well for a female MC in a male dominated industry, pple jus give her props as it's due.
banky w did a lovely hook, M.I repped jus as well.

It's not really a critique of the track to have an opinion. It's a good track. . .
but if they set the standards themselves you'd always expect them to at least meet it or raise it when next you hear new material from them. . .
It's all love though

@Javalove

Rugged may need to enhance his lyrics but he ain't bad overall. . . Dude's got delivery - he cuts the Naija version of Luda/Xzibit for me.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Rugged came out at a time when there were loads of wack emcees. Back then you compared Rugged w Rasquie w eedris.

I truly believe if a new rapper came out today, IMO, with the same skillset as Rugged. . . He'll struggle. He's lucky he already has a fan base like dammiecool

Cos he'll be competing with MI, SauceKid, ikechukwu, Naeto C and all. . . . E go try gaan.
Music/Radio / Re: ''Ruggedman Should Go Back To The Studio And Reply Me'' by BajaGold(m): 11:12am On Feb 27, 2009
The problem is a lot of people need to understand that no matter how much money you make as a rapper. . .
you still want to be respected for your lyricism. . .
becos in the long run that's what you get judged by.

Till tomorrow Jay is refered to as the greatest to ever do it, but even he said. . .

"Truthfully i wanna rhyme like common sense. . ./ but i made five mil. . . I ain't been rhyming like common since/"

Rugged started out doing hardcore like mode. . . but dumbed down for his audience cos hardcore wouldn't buy him a chrysler.

it is what it is
