Romance / Why Does Society Perceive Hitting A Woman Has Being Worse Than Hitting A Man by balium(m): 10:10pm On Jul 14, 2012
The major argument will be  that women are weaker than men but our world today has made feminism popular and women's right in the society have improved and it will be totally unfair if their strength perception doesn't change from traditional beliefs. Since women claim to be on the same level as men, no one should regard hitting a woman has being worse than hitting a man.
Religion / Are You Afraid Of Death by balium(m): 9:42pm On Jul 14, 2012
"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it." - Mark Twain

"We are going to die and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place, but will in fact never see the light of day, outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA, so massively outnumbers the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds, it is you and I in our ordinariness that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred." Richard Dawkins
Without bringing faith or religion into this, do you fear the day that your consciousness will fade into non-existence for eternity? Now a lot of people say, in response to this, that it's not like you're going to have time to reflect not existing and that it is akin to falling asleep and not waking up or that period of time from before you were born. A lot of people also say that they would get to the point where they would just tire of life or death would instead be a release from the pains of life. But one of the joys of life is that there is always room and possibility for a positive change.

My fear of death stems more from moving towards death whilst living. The idea that after so many years this vast chasm of nothingness and emptiness, devoid of life or anything, awaits us all. Even when I go to sleep, I expect to wake up in the morning. Along with my fear, I also get a sense of frustration. Life is a beautiful thing. You may not appreciate that in times of depression or hardship or when things just aren't going right, or when you see the horrors of the world, but it is a beautiful thing. The frustration that this will come to an end someday is overwhelming at times for me. It's also the concept of infinite or forever or eternity, the idea that we won't be dead for a few years, or a million years, or a billion years but forever. We will never be able to think, laugh or be conscious ever. Once we're gone, we're gone. It's an eternal numbness. Now it's a pretty hard thing to wrap your head around and it seems trivial now that I've put it into words but when you really think about it, does anyone else feeling this overwhelming sadness or frustration or even fear?

I've also found that these thoughts concerning my own mortality seem to only come at night. Perhaps that is due to there being less distractions at night and a heightened sense of loneliness because when I reflect on this during the day, I pass it off as a fairly trivial thought and say 'enjoy what I have'. However, it becomes something of the utmost importance and frustration at night. Hence me posting this thread at this time to get thoughts from others.

I guess in the end, dying itself doesn't scare me as when it happens, I won't know that it's happened but the conscious idea that I juggle day to day of going into a state of non-existence for an eternity having lived life does scare me to my core. The "concept" of an inevitable and eternal end... I can't fathom not existing, I want to be able to feel and think, be conscious. And living for so many years and being dead for an infinite length of time, it's both terrifying and depressing.

How do you feel about death? Or perhaps the passing itself and if it will be painful? Or is it just the thought of trying to comprehend an eternity of non-existence?

Religion / Re: Why Do Nigerians/Africans Believe In Christianity/Muslim Crap? by balium(m): 11:48am On Mar 16, 2012
i can understand the op point of view, but the assumption was correct for one faith and we are talking about two here. christianity came in to nigeria through the missionaries,it was used as a decoy to control the local populace after brainwashing them with the trinity, history can best explain that. but the arabians didnt come into nigeria seeking for power, according to wikipedia it came from arabian merchants who were muslims and even among the yorubas it was concluded that it came from mali. looking at both origins, europeans came for power using christianity as a decoy but islam is otherwise. it was spreading because of the truth entailed in it message, its simplicity. Even as at today, the westerners are no longer christians, it has achieved its use and no longer needed except in african countries that are still gullible but islam is still strongly practiced from where it originated from and even spreading in europe.

Most Nigerians in the diaspora presently use the words chai and chei these days when they type or communicate.

Religion / Predictions From The Quran by balium(m): 1:56pm On Sep 04, 2011
I stumbled on this stuff on the internet so i decided to paste to hear u guys opinion and check for it possibilities.[PLEASE SENSIBLE COMMENT ONLY]

Using prime numbers a new evidence for 31 events in 2012 has been found in the holy book of Islam, The Quran.

These events are not related to any “End of the World” scenario nor are they related to the Mayan calendar as they all start and end before 21-December-2012. These events will (God willing) unite the world in a new spiritual awakening wave once Man sees that all places of worship become safe havens to shelter the believers and realize that we all worship the same ONE GOD regardless of our different religious paths.

With sincere prayer, we may avert all 31 events if we unite now and submit to God’s Will as directed by our global living guide, The Quran.

This work is not yet another numerology work. This work uses prime numbers which are God’s signature in His creation and the most important chapters of the Quran, Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlaas, Ar-Rahmaan, and ayat Al-Kursi attest to this fact.

Prime Numbers
Unlike odd, prime numbers are those numbers that are not divisible by other numbers except themselves and 1. For example: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, …

All non-primes (composite numbers) and composed by multiplying prime numbers together in one unique way. For example: 4=2*2, 6=2*3, 8=2*2*2, 9=3*3, … Therefore, prime numbers are said to be the multiplicative building blocks for all other numbers.

Until 1899, number 1 was considered prime but since then it is considered neither prime nor composite but merely the unit of numbers or the additive building block for all natural numbers. Example 1=1, 2=1+1, 3=1+1+1, 4=1+1+1+1, …

The Key
The Key (الفاتحة) chapter consists of 7 verses, 29 words and 139 letters as shown here:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
الحمد لله رب العلمين
الرحمن الرحيم
ملك يوم الدين
إياك نعبد وإياك نستعين
اهدنا الصرط المستقيم
صرط الذين أنعمت عليهم غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين

Not only 7, 29, and 139 are prime numbers but their digit sums (7=7, 2+9=11 and 1+3+9=13) are also primes and the sum of these digit sums (7+11+13=31) is yet another prime.

What’s more, joining these prime numbers left-to-right (729139) and right-to-left (139297) also produces primes. Glory to Allah, the Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscience!

This is a clear evidence that the “BismAllah” of chapter The Key which is verse number 1 is an integral part of it and must therefore be recited always with it at all times, unlike the optional “BismAllah” of all other chapters except Repentance (التوبة) which has none.

The Message
Having established that the structure of The Key is firmly built upon prime numbers, attention was then turned to the structure of the whole Quran which consists of 114 chapters of various verse numbers as given below:

7 + 286 + 200 + 176 + 120 + 165 + 206 + 75 + 129 + 109 + 123 + 111 + 43 + 52 + 99 + 128 + 111 + 110 + 98 + 135 + 112 + 78 + 118 + 64 + 77 + 227 + 93 + 88 + 69 + 60 + 34 + 30 + 73 + 54 + 45 + 83 + 182 + 88 + 75 + 85 + 54 + 53 + 89 + 59 + 37 + 35 + 38 + 29 + 18 + 45 + 60 + 49 + 62 + 55 + 78 + 96 + 29 + 22 + 24 + 13 + 14 + 11 + 11 + 18 + 12 + 12 + 30 + 52 + 52 + 44 + 28 + 28 + 20 + 56 + 40 + 31 + 50 + 40 + 46 + 42 + 29 + 19 + 36 + 25 + 22 + 17 + 19 + 26 + 30 + 20 + 15 + 21 + 11 + 8 + 8 + 19 + 5 + 8 + 8 + 11 + 11 + 8 + 3 + 9 + 5 + 4 + 7 + 3 + 6 + 3 + 5 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 6236 verses.

Although the number of chapters (114) and the number of verses (6236) are not primes, Quran 15:87 comes to the rescue:

“وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ”
“And We’ve given you seven of the doubles (or praise) and the great Quran.“

where the seven doubles were explained by the Prophet (pbuh+f) as the seven verses of The Key chapter as the word “ٱلْمَثَانِى” (“doubles”) can also mean “َثَناءَ” (“praise”) which is how the chapter teaches man how to approach his Creator and Sustainer for guidance after praising and extolling Him sincerely.

As a result, this research proposed that the Quran is made of two parts: a Key part which consists of chapter The Key alone and a Message part which consists of all other 113 chapters as per the following equations:

Quran = Key + Message
114 = 1 + 113 chapters
6236 = 7 + 6229 verses

All 1, 113, 7, and 6229 are primes with prime digit sums (1=1, 1+1+3=5, 7=7, 6+2+2+9=19) too. Glory to Allah!

This new two-part structure of the Quran suggests that the number of words and the number of letters of the whole Quran could also be primes with prime digit sums too but Allah know best.

Currently, this cannot be verified as all softcopies of the Quran found on the Internet are not authorized by any religious authority and have conflicting word and letter counts and therefore cannot be relied upon.
Please help me if you can!

The Merciful Verse
Chapter The Merciful (الرحمن) contains 31 repetitions of a verse that reads:

“فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ”
“What other bounties of your Sustainer do you still belie?”

Not only 31 is a prime number but summing up the verse numbers of these repetitions produced a new prime that also has a prime digit sum as follows:

13+16+18+21+23+25+28+30+32+34+
36+38+40+42+45+47+49+51+53+55+
57+59+61+63+65+67+69+71+73+75+77 = 1433 prime

with digit sum 1+4+3+3= 11 prime too.

This new magical prime of 1433 was proved to be pointing at the Hijri year 1433H (or 2012) for Allah (swt) made the number of words in this chapter including BismAllah (355) the same as the number of days in the year 1433H which has the following number of days in each month:

30+29+30+30+29+30+30+29+30+29+30+29 = 355 days.
[http://www.islamicfinder.org/Hcal/hdate_year.php?year=1433&base=h]

Mapping each word of the Merciful chapter to its corresponding day in the year 1433H shows that:
-the first occurrence of this verse will start on 7th January 2012 and
-the last occurrence of this verse will end on 7th November 2012 and Allah knows best.

Predictions
This research predicts that a four-day event that will repeat 31 times (Quran 44:10, 44:15) before a big event (Quran 44:16) takes place on perhaps 21 December 2012 as predicted by Western researchers using the astronomically accurate Mayan Calendar:

Quran 44:10“فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍۢ مُّبِينٍ”
“Look out for a day when the sky brings clarifying smoke.”

Quran 44:15 “إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ”
“We are lifting the punishment a little but you will be back.”

Quran 44:16 “يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ”
“On a day when we seize you with a mighty onslaught: We are taking revenge.”

The word “مُنتَقِمُونَ” or “taking revenge” can be seen as revenge for those who belie God’s signs and bounties (ءَالَآءِ).

More research has revealed an even later date from the same Merciful verse by joining its 31 repeated verse numbers right-to-left (Arabic direction) to produce a 62-digit number that has only two prime factors:

77757371696765636159575553514947454240383634323028252321181613 = 7 * 11108195956680805165653650502135350605769090617575464617311659

This new 62-digit prime number is then split into new 31 2-digit numbers that are summed up to yield yet another prime Hijri year with a prime digit sum as follows:

11+10+81+95+95+66+80+80+51+65+65+36+50+50+21+35+35+06+05+76+
90+90+61+75+75+46+46+17+31+16+59 = 1619 prime with digit sum 1+6+1+9 = 17 prime too.

1619H maps to 2192 which shows that 2012 will not be the End of the World but hopefully a Spiritual Awakening by all humanity worldwide.

Future generations should look forward to the year 2192 as yet another small correction to the course of human history because only Allah decides when the End will come and can bring it anytime at the blink of an eye or even nearer:

Quran 16:77

“وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَآ أَمْرُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمْحِ ٱلْبَصَرِ أَوْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ ۚإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ“
“To Allah belongs the Unseen of heavens and earth and The Hour can come at the blink of an eye, or even nearer. Truly! Allah is capable of doing anything.”
Religion / Re: Does Jinn Really Exist? by balium(m): 9:09pm On Sep 03, 2011
The Qur’aanic View about the Jinn

Allah has enlightened us on the subject of Jinn through the seventy second (72nd) Surah Surah Al-Jinn, revealed late in Makkah and various other aayaat in the Holy Qur’aan.

The Holy Qur’aan reveals that Jinn are created from fire whereas the human beings are created from clay. Although they are invisible to human eyes, the jinn can see us. Like human beings they are also entrusted with responsibilities (careers, family life, etc.). They too will be rewarded for their righteousness and will receive punishment for their wickedness.

“I created jinn and mankind only that they may worship me.”
(Al Zariyat:56)

“Whosoever fears the standing before his Lord, for him there are two paradises.”

(Rahman:46)

“And among us ( the Jinns ) there are the righteous folk and among us there are far from that; we are sects having different rules.”
(Jinn:11)

Views from Ahadith

Ahadith enlighten us further and some of these are quoted below:

1. Jinn have been given power to change their form and appear in front of human beings in various forms; such as an animal, a reptile, or even a human being. In a hadith from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), it is believed that a jinn came in the form of a gigantic serpent. It is narrated that:-

“A sahabi , returning from the battle of Khandaq saw his newly wed wife stood outside their house. He could not bear this sight and got extremely angry . He pointed the spear (at her), which he had in his hand , and asked her for an explanation. She asked him to go inside the house and see what was there before taking any further action against her. She was obviously scared by what she had seen. He entered the house and saw a huge python. He (thought he) killed the python but as he was returning, it suddenly attacked him and it was not known which of the two had died first.

Upon learning about the above incident, the Holy Prophet(peace and blessings be upon him) remarked, “Indeed you will find some inhabitants within your household, so whenever you come across any of these warn them three times, if they go away it is alright otherwise you may kill them.” The serpent, it seems, was a jinn.

Shaytaan, who is also from the family of Jinn, came in the form of an old man on the day of Badr (the famous battle in the year 2 A.H.). He tried to uplift the morals of the kafir fighters but when he saw the army of the angels descending to aid the Muslims, he could not bear the sight of them and ran away.

2. It was the custom of Jahiliyyah[ignorance] to fear the Jinn. Throughout their journey whenever the mushrikeen would break the journey in a desert or in a jungle, They would seek the refuge of the Jinns in that area. This would encourage the Jinn to cause a lot of disturbance and also increase their revolt.

3. Upon the advent of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) , many jinns accepted the mission and message of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They heard the Qur’aan read by the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while performing Fajr salaah in Ukaz and they also began to believe in the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As such, amongst the Jinns, there too are different religions, groups, sects and cults such as Christians, Jews, etc,. Among those who call themselves Muslims there are sects like Ahle Sunnah, Qadiani, Shiahs, etc,.

4. Human beings are superior to Jinns. The Jinns can never harm human beings if tackled in the right manner. When a jinn starts to like someone he follows him or her around. If he does something extraordinary and that person gets frightened, the Jinn will tease him more but if he reacts in a brave manner, the Jinn will disappear.

4.1 Mujahid, a student of Ibn Abbas says:-

“After Ibn Abbas’s death a shaytaan would constantly appear before me in the form of Ibn Abbas whenever I started salaah. This got so worse that at times I was forced to break my salaah. So I decided to confront him next time he appeared and so I hid a dagger in my pocket and started salaah. When he came in front of me, I took out the dagger and jumped on him. He disappeared instantly and therafter he never came back.”

4.2 Similarly, Hazrat Thanwi rahmatullahi alaihe has narrated that:-

“Once in the city of Kufa, in Iraq, a merchant arrived and was searching for a rented accommodation. All the properties were full and someone directed him to a house which was empty and believed to be haunted. He was so tired that he did not care and decided to rent the property. When he was retiring to bed a huge black jinn came in front of him. He immediately started to recite the ‘Ayatul Kursi’. The jinn also followed his recitation and when he read the words, ‘Wala ya’uduhu hifzuhuma’ (‘And their ( the sky and the earth) safeguarding does not burden him’) the Jinn could not follow and stopped. The person understood the consequences of the words and recited the same words again and again until the jinn faded away. The merchant went to sleep and in the morning when he got up he saw the burnt ashes in the place where the jinn appeared. He was burnt by the power of Allah.”
Back

Actions & Precautionary Measures

5. As mentioned above human beings are superior to Jinns and as such can eliminate contact and any harm caused by them, if we adopt the ways taught to us by our Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). These are:-

· Try not to stay ‘Naa paak’ (in the state of impurity) for a prolonged period.

· Perform salaah five times daily;

· Constant rememberance of Allah through zikr (the heart of a zakir is alive whereas a non -zakir’s heart is dead);

· If confronted by a Jinn then recite Auzu billah , ; Lahawla wa la quwwata, and the last two chapters of Qur'aan, Qul auzu birrabinas and Qul auzu birabil falaq;

· Recite daily a few pages of Surah Baqara as shaytaan does not have the ability to enter a room in which Surah Baqara is read.
