A friend who will be leaving for US in few days time for his PhD is so excited. Looking at him today buying his flight ticket, with great joy all over his face seem bubbly. He got a fully funded scholarship in one of the top universities, applied for Visa in Lagos and got denied, came to Abuja to apply and it was successful. He said he can't wait to Japa.

It's not easy making Japa preparations. The major problem for many of us is "MONEY". We still dey save. Frustration to Japa even led me to type on Google "When will Nigeria be allowed into US DV Lottery" cheesy wink smiley . Hopefully, money go complete and i go Japa

Lately, I have been watching and following Korean drama series. Damn, I must confess those people are great and spend huge amount of money on creating a series. I reserched on YouTube and discovered that most of their popular actors collect up $60k - $80k fee per episode. And most Korean series normally have up to 16 - 25 episodes. They spend up to $20m to $50m in one season series. No wonder their drama series normally come out great.

When will Nigeria get to this levelhuh Seriously I really like Naija to develop great, quality and mouth watering series, I am really rooting for us. We are the biggest in Africa, I feel we can improve greatly on quality rather than quantity, and also improve on marketing. The music industry is far ahead of the movies.

Yes they should have ended it with Season 3 but i think they are making so much money from it so they decided to milk it some more.
Nothing spectacular about this season 4... Something is telling money heist may end up that way.

Not impressed with Elite season 4. Same story line directed towards similar act in season 1 and 3. It should have just ended in season 3.

I want better story line

Recently something happened to me which nearly caused an emotional breakdown. Was expecting some money for some job I did but disappointment was what hit me. I lost it. Nigeria is getting harder and of us are not living, we are just existing, trying to stay above the poverty line. The last few days has been so difficult eehh that if I can just disappear here and appear in say UK, Canada, US or any developed country where my efforts will pay.

I have a small piggy safe I used to drop small change for the past 1 year. I wanted to keep saving in it but part of me is determined to open it and invest the money. That's the only savings I have right now. The money may not be up to 50k sef. Just want to start something good again and be happy.

I intend investing the money in crypto ( just buy one of the currencies and leave it there for year's to come).

You can equally share your experience of trying to invest in business in this present day Nigeria.

Please suggest to me any other viable online business I can do with that money.

And if anyone has any genuine online business one can venture into, please drop it here. I'm skilled in writing.

TravelRe: Will Canada "Cast" For Nigerians Soon? by bamangar: 5:13pm On Jan 16, 2021
It will not cast. Look ehhh, the fact you hear Nigerian shouting "Canada... Canada", you may think up to 1 million Nigerians have already migrated to that country.. It's just the shout and hype. There are less than 150k Nigerian in Canada. Canada granted PR to up to 12,250 Nigerians in 2019. Also, there are 15k Nigerian students in Canada.

Canada immigration is straightforward, genuine and constructive that I doubt if it will cast.. The even want more skilled workers

Or better still before she leaves Naij’s let her open a pounds domiciliary account so that when she earns in her Naira account to retain the value she can get someone to change black market for her in Nigeria and deposit to that Nigerian dorm account.

This is good so as not to tamper with your foreign account in the UK and be on the safe side.
Great advice. Exactly what I was planning to do.

This is serious.

What if she continues the online stuff and receive money from it through her Nigerian account and then finds a way to send it to her UK account or look for someone in UK who can swap £ for #(transfer through mobile banking)?

I think this would be a better advice.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by bamangar: 12:32pm On Nov 29, 2020
I need a viable response on this. I learnt that the UK student visa doesn't allow any form of freelancing jobs.
Some one was saying that one's student accounts are monitored. If you work far more than the hours, they will know. And if you make far more money required to be in your account as a student, they will know.

Now here is my point, someone that has social media platforms that generates up to N1m / £2k monthly, she has been running this social media platforms since she was in Nigeria and intends maintaining it while undergoing her masters in Uk. While in uk, she's making that money, withdrawing it with student account and using it to take care of herself.
Will the student visa be withdrawnhuhhuh Though all those money are made genuinely from her online platform she creates content for.

Secondly, can one run an online business while also doing student jobs with the normal 20 hours, if immigration discover they make more money, will it affect the student visa??
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by bamangar:

This is the reality and truth for some people. However, my advice would be that anyone planning to come to the UK to study now should do alot of research and ask questions from people there already. What I've observed so far is that in some areas even with the covid 19, there are still alot of jobs while in some areas, nothing at all.

So when looking out to make a choice on the school, also remember the location is very important, don't just go for any location, I can tell you that there are areas you would easily get jobs but if you are in a location that there is no job and then the only areas you are getting the jobs is miles away from you then transportation and all comes in and it's harder.

Then I believe when coming have a mindset of wanting to achieve something and focus on it, be resilient and be prepared mentally for the negatives and positives but have a mindset to make it through.

PS- I'm a dependent, however my wife who is the student attends lectures online at least 4 days a week one of the lecturers even called for a one on one class at one time, she has also been called for some student jobs that have offered her some pounds per hour. I on the other hand coming from Nigeria with some experience in the space of less than a month have been called for at least 3 to 4 interviews, got two offers already and all.

That said, please research and ask people that would be honest with you questions, also pray and ask God for directions and be resilient and keep believing things would turn out good. Apply to alot of job and be ready to improve on yourself.
I love your response and positivity. The fact that cars kill people on high way accident doesn't mean many people wont buy one or more. There are opportunities in the UK, even far better than in Nigeria at the moment. One just have to ask questions and research. Challenges are different, what student bayo would face is different from what student Halima may face. But I believe nigerians are survival. The UK will be rolling out a point based immigration system in January 2021, with what is going on and how they are gradually bouncing back, I think more job opportunities would be created in 2021.

TheGuyFromHR:
And as a corollary to what this gentleman has said - please select your courses carefully, for those of you planning to work here after school.
In all honesty, the only industry that is generally open to employing people now is the healthcare industry. Not that there are no other jobs - there are - but the number of applicants per opening is truly astronomical. So select wisely. Read, read, read the UK papers and orient yourselves.

Redraft your CVs, start to work on yourselves (I ran into one of my wife's classmates, an Indian, who managed to secure an interview and said the interviewers asked him a simple question about how he would do the proposed job under the current covid restrictions (Scotland has banned travel outside the country by law) and when he was rambling something, they probed further and found out he didn't know much about the basics of how Scotland is governed differently from the rest of the UK, and he said they chopped him raw)), be open to taking anything you can legally get, and network, network, network.

And lastly, I read one of the comments somewhere where someone was asking something about drafting a letter explaining gaps in his CV, and someone (I think it was our main man Cyberknight, who always goes direct to the point), told him not to bother, that the UK wants foreign students to come in and fund its universities with their fees for the foreseeable future. This is true, and related to that, everyone who has left or plans to leave Nigeria with no going back should be ready for the vastly reduced epxerience they are going to get. Like I say, read, read, read the damn UK papers before you come (The Guardian is free to read online, you could also take out a free trial subscription to the Tory papers online The Times or The Telegraph to get an idea of government thinking) so you know what awaits you. I am pretty disgusted with many of the Nigerian students we've been meeting here, I find them idiotic for investing all that money and still being astounded at the situation here on arrival.
I like this your response/advice. Just wish i can tag someone i know to come see it. I will be going September 2021, this period gives me time to plan and raise more funds, hopefully the effect of the pandemic would have reduced.

Just like someone said, UK universities are just issuing admissions to international students, visa approvals to come study. They need the money to fund their education system without much available incentives for those international students to survive. One has to be financially and mentally prepared when going this period.
Fact is, living in Nigeria till age 18-20 has a way of mentally preparing you for survival anywhere in the world, provided all your dealings are genuine. Nigerians are survival so as international student, i believe one can survive those challenges, but the only thing is that it depends on time frame.

So many Nigerians paid part tuition fees with the hope of getting a job, working to make money to pay up the remaining fees. It won't be very easy this period, but many just want to leave Nigeria to start a better life over there. I don't blame them, me too wan leave. But i hope they can read up informations online to be prepared for challenges ahead.
