Olami1224: Thank you all for the posts, it's been really helpful. Olami, this a start of the long process and it requires a bit of work on your part. Newfoundland Memorial Uni prides itself in "cheap" tuition alongside satchachewan (something spelt like that... lol). You must however do the search yourself following your criteria of course of study and requirements by each uni while you look at each unis tuition fees after they meet your course requirements. Since schooling is not only about tuition, you also wanna check places with less expensive living costs. Hopefully, others will contribute to your question. All the best! |

Noswaa: Why every body is negleting my message Hello there, I do not think your question is being ignored. However, it seemed to be targeted at people who have knowledge of the agent/consultant you have mentioned. Nonetheless, I really don't think packaging your application is that hard so far you bear in mind what people have been saying on this thread. You must also be aware packaging is just packaging and not a 100% assurance of study permit/visa. Therefore, i suggest if you would use the agent/consultant you wrote about, you should get actively involved in the process yourself. I used an agent based in Canada. In other words, we never saw eye to eye and only communicated via emails and phone calls. I think we use agents just because we want to convince ourselves we are doing what's best but honestly, they are NOT guarantees! Most of the time, they even erroneously generalize based on their experience forgetting each applicant's case is peculiar which is why you need to fully involved while using their services. All the best. |

Danyl: @bamshy,is VFS global service also a courier servicn coy. 1. VFS global is somewhat of a "audit" and courier firm for major embassies in Nigeria including Canadian embassy. They basically go through your documents ensuring you completed your forms, paid the exact amount needed on your draft and basically meet the embassy's minimum requirement for submission. After which they collect all your documents, issue to a receipt (cos you will pay 4,125 naira for their services) and a tracking no. via the web and take your docs to and fro the embassy. In other words, you will still go back there to collect your stuffs after the embassy has dealt with it. 2. Name change is a grave issue and must be dealt with carefully. I am sure some of your documents/certificates may still have your former surname. I suggest you consult a barrister for the right documents to back up your name change. All in all, you don't wanna cause doubts in the mind of the visa officers or make them have a sense of fraudulent intent when that's not your motive. 3. I'm sorry, I am applied to a college as i could not make the at least 3.75 gpa required by most Unis House members please attend to Danyl's concerns too. Thank you all |

Interesting. It's in the bid to be abreast with international standards. Truly, one might get pissed off. I am sure someone gave a speech at the muster point and asked for questions. Next time you experience such, ask how you can recover your cash back in case of actual fire. The fire wasn't caused by you and if you had parted with cash in the bank's environment, you deserve to know what to do in that real scenario. 1 Like |

Danyl: @justwise and the General house, of recent i had to change my surname for certain confidential reasons and i recently applied to dalhousie univ. In nova scotia but i used my former name because that's what appeared on my int. passport. I want to ask that what are the implications if I apply to the chdc with my new name-(only surname changed),because my passport wil expire in 2015,and I cant change d name on d passport nw, though i have d court affidavit of change of name I think you will need to make your reasons for change of name open to the visa officer and submit relevant legal documents to confirm you are one and the same person. Since your reason remains confidential, members of the house may find it a bit difficult in advising what documents you should add to your sworn affidavit. As per submission, I used the VFS Global services at Billings way, Oregun, lagos. |

Thank you for your response. Well, I read physics for undergraduate and always liked the many things one can do with computers. Well, I said I am a novice because i have never been actively engaged in IT despite my Microsoft Certified Professional certification and some web design trainings basically using HTML, XHTML and CSS. In addition, the two graduate courses are meant to introduce novices to the field. I think with this explanation you may be able to find some modicum of sense in my question and assist with your opinion. Thank you all |
Programming / Hardware Or Software For Postgraduate Program For A Computer Novice? by bamshy: 11:55pm On Mar 24, 2012 |
I am 28 yrs old and have just been offered postgraduate admission by two different colleges. However, one is about hardware (networking, computer architecture, installing os, cisco, security, wireless networks, exchange servers, visual basic.net, unix, database access) plus web design while the other is strictly, web design, oracle, java, xml, pl/sql, database courses. I have not really been exposed to either hardware or software which is why i find it difficult to know which suits me better. Dear all, please which would put food on the table fast as my investment in education needs to at least start yielding back quickly after graduation. thank you |
Programming / Re: I Want To Learn Computer Programming, What Language Should I Learn First? by bamshy: 10:27pm On Mar 24, 2012 |
javalord: My opinion, i think you need to understand the architect of a computer. What i mean is this, you need to understand the structure of a computer, learn how hardwares interact with software and vice. I assure you, if don't learn this, there is no way you will be come a good programmer. javalord, I decided to pick on your response for my question instead of starting a new thread. J20: I keep wondering if paying in lump sum into one's account won't attract questions from the embassy officials. Like paying in N1m 2 months before application. Do you have to explain the source. In my opinion, 1mm is just about $7k and may not attract suspicion if it's about 20-25% of the account balance unlike when it's 50% or more. Reading this thread for a long time, i have seen people whom the embassy would ask to come with another bank statement 3 months after application. The visa officers seem to do this to confirm if that lump sum has been returned back to the owner or it's truly meant for your studies. |

ifynne: Wow!!dis is the topic I have been looking for.I am new here just for info on admission into canadian university.Pls pals I have secondclass lower division and want to know if there is any canadian school that I can enroll for masters with my grade cos most schools require upper division.Answers plssssssssss Try a PGD.PGD over there is viewed differently from how we view it here. It's more practical and hands-on. PGD graduates are believed to be better trained for jobs. However, Msc graduates are so respected that they expect them to stay in academia |

lekibraky: Hello house I av been following ur post travelling to canada from part one to part two I must confess U̶̲̥̅̊ guys are duin wonderful job infact this site is †ђξ best site nigeria ever produced. You can still make september admission if you apply before May 1 as it is safer to allow a space of 4 months. You should try tp write your statement of interest yourself as it will vividly express what you think about the subject and why it captivates you. Usually such statement should be convincing enough to win an admission. You may include what you have done/learn in the line of the subject. Use terminologies that shows you have an idea of the subject and express what's most fascinating to you about the subject. You may then give to someone to help you edit. All the best |

I think Noswaa must really be thinking about how to convince the visa officer about the benefits your husband's friend stands to gain in sponsoring you. I suggest he puts his cash in your account or your husband's as that is straight forward either as a self-sponsored applicant or your husband sponsoring you. |

Fhemmmy: These are good questions. From the reports i have read from the threads, I would say the following are the most important: Eligibility to be accepted as a bonafide student i.e. you are truly going to be a student in canada and the connection between your present qualification and proposed subject Ability to cover your tuition fees for the period esp. if it's pgd/msc Proof that you will return after your studies Be in good health |

Travel / Changing Colleges/universities/courses In Canadian Schools by bamshy: 7:38pm On Feb 24, 2012 |
What is the procedure for changing colleges once you enter Canada? I have two offers of admission for two Colleges. One school offers Information Technology PgD (2 semesters - hardware); the other offers Information Technology PgD (4 semesters - software). I am interested in the software offer but will only be able to meet its financial demands (tuition + living expenses) by August 2012. On the other hand, I have excess funds to cover the expenses for the hardware offer. I need to apply now, do I risk the software offer knowing I can meet its demands by August (because I am sill employed) or do I play safe and go for the hardware? If I apply using the hardware, I know the cic.ga site says you can change courses and schools but how do i deal with upfront payment of fees to the "hardware" school? |

Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by bamshy: 7:08pm On Feb 28, 2008 |
hello all, it is not something new that you can make real fortune in the capital market. however, there are some unavoidable detractors that sometimes go all the way to frustrate this goal. they are called the nigerian stock brokers. i once used forthright securities in akure. if you see the non-challant and unwelcoming attitude of the members of staff, no one will tell you before you sell off your stocks with them and leave fast! another one is cashcraft asset management ltd, in their case i think they have too many customers that they can handle moreso that if you are investing less than a million, their staff see you as a church rat that deserves no respect, you can imagine a member of staff telling me he is on his way to the office that he cannot answer my enquiries!!! i wonder who is paying his salary anyway (pride make them forget it's units that grow into tens and unto millions). sometimes it takes them 3 months to credit your account after paying into their bank a/c thereby using your money while you are made to wait endlessly! i am planning to move my account from them as soon as i have an input from you guys about well trusted and tested brokers. any suggestions pls |
