I can relate with what u r saying OP. Felt same way when I was turning 20, not to d extent of having sleepless nights though. I feel its cos we set targets for ourselves as to what we hope to hv achieved at the turn of a new decade in our lives but such high targets r hardly met in entirety that we always wish for more time. Good tin is tht we eventually gey used to our new age wen it finally hits us. I will be 30 next year nd I am already worried tht I'm not married. By d way, u r not depressed
You think?

Like you, i will be turning 30 next year (end of 2015).

I'm 28 now, but sometimes the same thought crosses my mind.
However, there is nothing wrong with that.

Humans have a tendency to resist change, but change is not an option.

Sometimes like you, i wonder if i had spent too much time working my 9-5 and building my own company, at the expense of "life?"

Then again, i ask myself- what exactly is there left to do in the spirit of "youthful exuberance?" I've done it all.
Could it be i'm just being greedy by wishing i had, and would do more?

As far as clubbing. I almost never go to a regular club anymore. I graduated from regular clubs to lounges years ago.
I was all over the clubs back then.

At times at like 10pm, we would decide to drive 3 hours to New York, just because we had
a good "remember that time" gist about some club out there.
Or we would randomly drive like 6 hours to Montreal in Canada to party it up, and drive back to the US in the morning.

It is all a frame of mind. Reorganize the things in your life.
If your 9-5 is weighing you down, make the right financial/investment moves, and cut it off like i did.

Do not worry about marriage, it will happen when it happens.
Ignore external influence of such things, and live life on your own terms - it is no one else's.

I created this nairaland username and site last year specifically as therapy for myself. I needed to indulge more in the simpler things in life
like.. laughing. Life is too darn short ya know.
Don't know how I missed your post initially . . . But I liked it.

I'm not thirty yet, but I can identify with a few of these thoughts as they're generally the sort of things people have to contend with as they hit adulthood. I'd say you should find some of these fun things you missed out on and do them from time to time. These thoughts will come up when your 39, 49 . . Also, you should have a companion, like a girlfriend or spouse who can encourage you and be a support in such times. Be strong, life is full of possibilities.

Thanks a lot. . I really appreciate your time and effort. Just so you know, I look good, very good actually. . So, yes I do have a girlfriend, and that's the least of my worries. Plus a very healthy finance too. I think I am just yet to adjust to reality that's all.

At this age, you are still young to be depressed because you have not seen anything yet, though this days people aged quickly am 40yrs but have white beard. However, you are only expirencing a PHASE CHANGE and not depression and that can creates anxiety(because you are scared of the future, aging, accomplishments etc) and makes you perplexed, feeling unhappy or lack of satisfaction for your present status. You shouldn't be afraid
Try the following
Get closer to the ALIMIGHTY GOD
Get a decent wife/ mother characteristics kind of a woman( because at 30, you should have your first kid at least)
Get a an interesting job, the one that makes you happy. If you have already get into one more at least
Get a land if possible and imagine your building on it and how wonderful it will be with your family living in it.

Hope you will be ok
Goodluck
Thanks a lot sir, one of the best advices here. Honestly the part where you mentioned "aging" is what scares me the most. . . I look at old prople an get scared now. I dont know why. Naturally I am claustrophobic and engage in a lot of introspection. . . . I guess thats where this stems from. Thanks to everyone though.

Don't want to seem rude, but if I am to go by your post. I'd be well in my jurisdictions to say, you are the one without a purpose. Simplistic reasoning like yours stem from the brain of a barbaric dimwit! You don't even know me. How can you jump to such conclusions? Hey guys,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'd go ahead and post here as it is related to health (depression).
Well, I don't want to bore you with long sermon-esque writings, so I'd skip the fancy stuff and go straight
to the point. I'd be turning 30 mid next year and its really eating me up! I feel depressed and old! Its been
giving me sleepless nights and middle of the night insomnia I wake up 4.00 am for no reason nowadays
and just stare at the ceiling lost in thought and scared as hell with thoughts of being in the twilight of my youth,
knowing I'd have to get married pretty soon, just 10 years away from 40, no more clubbing, no more spontaneous
Saturday drives. The worst part is I spent MOST of my teenage and youth life in self development and didn't have
time to indulge in some most of the activities attached to youthful exuberance. Its paid off, yes! But, I AM DEPRESSED right now! sad
Did any of you guys currently 30 and above experience same? Would really help if someone said something. *sigh*

Take a look at these for instance. . . Notice how they have the same molecular structure and components. All we need do is conduct a purity test. I mean I am not a medical professional, far from it. . .But I am a science enthusiast and the little chemistry I studied back in secondary school was/is enough to give me an insight unto these things. We have pharmacists, we can do this or at most get some foreigner who can.

Favipiravir(T-705):
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favipiravir

Ouabaib:

True, those molecular structures look very similar. Unfortunately, i dont know jack bout this. I wish an in-house professional chemist would shed more light.

phreakabit: Keeping an eye out for this research as it unfolds. Good thing is if it proves to be a credible therapeutic . . We can always get generic versions from Chinese pharmacies, same for Avigan( favipiravir) which generic name is : T-705

Bros you are super smart! I have been thinking about the samething for ages. We can easily buy generic versions of Ouabain andT-705, get a rogue pharmacist from The Balkans and have him make it into the appropriate mg needed in oral doses. But no we are waiting for WHO and USA. . .. cry cry
