…News in brief. ….. The whereabout of Mr. Rahman Abubakar is yet to be known. The police are still investigating and are urging anybody with useful information to step forward……… Ella and her ‘friends’ watched the news together with Tobi munching on his meal. ‘Nawa o’, Ella said, ‘how can the victim be accused of shooting someone. This one wey police dey find am’. ‘Still confusing though’, Oge chipped in and faced Tobi, ‘is there something you left out?’. Tobi ignored him instead; he had other thoughts on his mind. Just then his phone rang and his worse fear was confirmed. ‘Ghost how far?’, he said and hushed his ‘new friends’. ‘Where you dey?’, Ghost asked. ‘Oga I dey hustle for wetin man go chop’, Tobi said pacing the sitting room with different thoughts running through his minds. ‘Small food dey house na’, Ghost queried; still suspicious. ‘I can’t always depend on your benevolence’, Tobi replied, ‘Where you dey?’. ‘House’, Ghost said. ‘I go block you’, Tobi said, ‘hunger dey wire me sef’. And he cut the call. ‘Wheww’, Tobi let out a sigh of relief. ‘Who was that?’, Oge asked. ‘Our worse nightmare’, Tobi replied looking lost. ‘Let’s contact the police’, Ella said with urgency. ‘I agree’, Oge said. ‘You don’t know anything’, Tobi said shaking his head, ‘do you know who’s working with him?’. ‘He goes to jail for fun’, he continued, ‘for him to still be a free man shows he has links even in the police’. ‘Oh’, they both said stupidly. ‘Give me your numbers’, he told them, ‘don’t try to call me, I will call you’. ‘Are you running away?’, Ella asked suspiciously. She got an angry stare from Tobi instead. ‘I need a change of clothes’, he replied instead, ‘and a good shower’. I have to discard this blood soaked cloth, he thought reasonably. Oge brought some clothes which Tobi felt was too flashy. ‘Mr Oge, do you have a three quarter by chance’, he said with a hint of sarcasm. Ghost wondered where Rahman was. He smashed the bottle with him against the wall. He hated failing and the whole scenario felt like a failure. Don for allow me kill am straight, he thought bitterly, when did I turn to investigator wey I dey ask for stupid source. Tobi walked in just then looking different. ‘Where you see cloth?’, he asked. ‘Let’s just say the person won’t miss it too much’, he replied looking around to see smashed bottle. Ghost laughed at his witty answer. He can’t be behind my predicament, he thought with his mood lighting up a little. ‘Was there a riot here’, Tobi said; impressed with his acting skills. ‘Had some bad fortune yesterday’, Ghost replied standing to get another bottle of beer. ‘Woman or police?’, Tobi said pouring himself a drink too, ‘that’s the two misfortune I know’. ‘I’ll tell you all about it’ , Ghost said grinning. ‘Bros, I’m so hungry’, he lied. ‘Na raw food dey’, his friend replied, ‘make we go find something chop’. ‘Good morning don’, a man said into the phone, ‘my boys just notified me about the other one that got shot’. ‘Is he dead?’, Don replied. ‘No’, the man replied, ‘but he can’t remember a thing’. ‘Keep watch’, Don replied, ‘We’ll use him to draw Rahman out’. ‘Ok’, the man replied. ‘Keep an eye on him’, he ordered the officer in front of him. ‘Ok commissioner’, the officer saluted and took his leave. The commissioner of police rested his back thinking of ways to draw Rahman out. We’ll find you boy, he vowed. ‘Ogechukwu’, Mrs Chibuzor said, ‘Where are you? ‘. ‘Mum, I can explain’, Oge said, ‘something came up’. ‘You changed your mind’, his mum queried. ‘No’, he replied, ‘I was on my way to your place. I will explain when we see’. ‘Was there an accident?’, she asked worried. He was tempted to say yes but realised it would escalate the whole issue. ‘I’ll tell you all about it’, he replied. He let out a sigh after she dropped the call. He laid his back on the chair and watched Ella walk pass him. She’s gotten more sexy, he thought admiring the view, what an eventful weekend this is turning out to be. @yopeolu www.realyans./2014/10/01/the-convict-the-broken-and-the-storyteller-links-to-the-part/ |
Enjoy Uti’s marriage sermon below. Why you never marry Na? Hmmmm how old is she? Why isn’t she married?? This one he is still single. Maybe he traded his marriage for wealth via JuJu They say She was very promiscuous in her young days o! And see her she is married!! Where is my own LORRRRRD!!!! WHY ME??!!! Abeg! WAKE UP NIGERIANS! My word! I think Nigerians are the hardest to convince that times have changed! Which is why we are finding it hard to fully develop as a country? #FACT! The amount of importance and relevance attached to marriage in this side of the world is the main reason for DEPRESSION, FAILURE, UNFULFILLED LIVES, PRETENSE AND UNREPORTED SUICIDE! And I'm not talking about the single folks here! Don't get me wrong I am not anti- marriage! I am very Pro Marriage; for the right reasons! It's crazy shocking and alarming that till now people still succumb to pressure and just marry the next person they date! Wooooow! In my opinion it is better to die single than to marry and be stuck with the wrong person! Cos that itself is early death! First of all parents need to chill! You have lived your lives, produced and raised good children. If you did a good job at it, you should trust your kids enough to make the right adult decisions at the right time! Stop the pressure!! Some of you have forced your kids into abusive relationships just so that you can save face and Brag that ahh all my children are married ooo! So continue bragging when you have to go and fetch their bodies from a Hospital or even worse a mortuary!! Yep it's been happening in this country. Husbands beating their wives to death; wives stabbing or shooting their husbands. Thank God for the kind of parents and Family I have o. Then society needs to shut the hell up! MIND YOUR DARN BUSINESS AND FOCUS ON YOUR OWN LIVES! The truth is people that are happily married and busy raising a family have absolutely no time to bother about who is single, why they are single, who is married and staying married. Most embarrassingly a married person getting involved in gossip about singles. Kai!!! Signs of a failing/ unhappy marriage include- serious levels of Aproko! Hahaha On a more serious note my opinion is this expecting everyone to get and stay married is like expecting everyone to be Rich and famous! IT WONT HAPPEN! The earlier we accept the better for us! Most people do not listen to their spirits and or seek God deeply. They just fling themselves into unions just so they can be MARRIED. Times have changed! People are not staying married! Men are getting more and more irresponsible, women are getting more successful and intolerant of men's childish behaviors and oh they are also bold enough to explore extra-marital affairs now. It’s crazy how me, a bachelor, would go out to a club and at 2/3am I’m tired and I want to go home and the married dudes are saying where u de go Na ?Party never finish!! *straight face** REALLY !! Who is cuddling your wifeat this ungodly hour? Why is she sleeping alone for Goodness sake! Even worse is when a married person says Uti introduce me to one small fine girl Na .i de de lonely sometimes. OH WOW!!! Very irresponsible but HEAVY STATEMENT. Married and Lonely?? Hmmmmm Let’s not forget that thanks to social media some equally lonely and bored housewives are snagging young fit men daily!!!! I mean the rate is alarming! In some marriages the husbands are constantly cheating as well as the wives??! So wait, why marry?!!!! Why?? And trust religious Fanatics to say God said a man shall leave his house and find a wife etc. etc. Really. DID God say a man MUST Marry?! Is there a commandment that says THALL SHALT MARRY! Yes Jesus said if you cannot hold yourself from fornicating then marry! But ALAS THERE is a commandment that clearly states: THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY!!! So let’s not always pull out scriptures to support our bias. If we do that one we go bible mortal combat. Lol I dare say this!! NOT EVERYONE IS SUPPOSED TO MARRY!!!!! I don’t think people know what marriage vows are o!!! People are really take God for granted!!!! Let’s analyze it: FORSAKING ALL OTHERS . TO BE FAITHFUL LOYAL and HONEST. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD (Meaning no more bikini babes. No more 6pack boys no more random hookups! NO LIES!!!! You shall touch and sleep with only one person for the rest of your LIFE! Hmm is okay. Lol) IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH!! (No matter how sick your spouse gets. Even if worms are coming out of their body and they smell bad! You have to be there for them!!!!) FOR BETTER OR WORSE! (No matter how bad things get! Even if Una quarrel and burn down the house! You stay!!) FOR RICHER OR POORER!!! ( hehehe I won’t even touch this before some babes will say I am swearing for them to marry a poor man but if he does get poor you stay) And the one that freaks me out. TILL DEATH DO US PART! ( meaning that the only thing that should separate you people is death!) If you find one who you love and completes you and to a high percentage is reciprocal, then it’s better to just get married and remedy any situation that tries to spoil the union rather than run away from it or find self satisfying alternatives to ease the shit. |

In just few seconds; Ella’s countenance changed from excitement to shock. ‘What on earth is going on?’, she found herself asking at the gruesome sight in front of her. She watched as the two strangers entered her home; one carrying the other who was bleeding profusely. ‘Oge, what did you get yourself into?’, she demanded eyeing the two men, ‘don’t stain my living room. Bring him here’. She directed them to her guest room and instructed them to lay him flat. ‘Please, can I get cold water’, Tobi requested obviously exhausted. ‘You can; after you tell me what the hell is happening’, she stood her ground, ‘he needs to be taken to the hospital’. ‘No hospitals’, Tobi replied without looking up; wondering why they were even there. ‘The cops need to be informed about this’, she said eyeing Tobi suspiciously. ‘No cops too. It’s a long story, Ella’, Oge said finally, ‘I promise to fill you in. Please help us’. They stared at each other for what looked like an eternity. She wanted to turn them away to get medical help in the hospital but something in Oge’s eyes touched her. What did he get himself into?,she thought. Random thoughts went through her mind. ‘Remove your shirt and place it gently on the wound’, she instructed, taking charge, ‘Oge; boil some water and bring it’. She went to get her first aid kit; half-praying, half-hoping she still had some of the things she used on an accident victim recently. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw the Lidocaine. ‘This guy body dey hot o,’ Tobi said still applying pressure to the wound. ‘Quickly bring that standing fan over here’, Ella ordered and applied pressure while Tobi did her bidding. He switched the fan on and bent down to listen to Rahman’s heartbeat, praying silently for a miracle. She proceeded to set an intravenous line for Rahman using the fan as support. ‘Apply pressure here’, Ella ordered, to Tobi’s chagrin while she measured the Lidocaine with a syringe. ‘What’s that going to do?’, Oge said coming to join them and placing the hot water gently in front of her. She placed the forceps into it to sterilise it. He passed a bottle of cold water to Tobi who gulped it down in seconds. ‘It’ll keep the pain at minimal level’, she explained and injected Rahman; hoping it worked due to the amount of blood he had lost. They watched as she injected all sites around the wound wondering what she added to the fluid. The fan was off now to avoid blowing dirts into the wound. ‘Abeg wetin you add?’, Tobi asked, unable to hold his curiosity much longer, ‘at least, in case of next time’ ‘Do you plan to get shot?’, Oge looked at him quizzically. ‘That’s Epinephrine’, she said and continued when they looked lost, ‘an adrenaline to keep the effect of the drug restricted to the wound area’. ‘oh…’, they both said stupidly. Ella puts on her gloves and removes the forceps from the water and with her lamp, she proceeded to poke around the wound for the bullet. There was no exit wound which meant the bullet was still lodged in the wound. ‘Gross’, Tobi said standing up, unable to stand the sight. He wished he could get hold of a strong drink. He wondered off to see if he could get hold of one. Meanwhile Ella continued probing for metal while Oge looks on like a puppy waiting for its meal. She brushed off beads of sweat forming on her brow even under the well air conditioned room. Oge admired her more that very moment. I wonder who the lucky man is, he found himself thinking. A smile lit up Ella’s face as she touched metal and extracted it; putting it in one of the drip nylons. She dressed the wound and bandaged it carefully. Tobi joined them just then bringing a bottle of vodka he saw lying around. Ella was too exhausted to challenge him for going through her stuff; she welcomed the sting of the drink happily. The next few hours saw them battling bouts of spasm sponge wiping with a wet towel and directing the fan to him. His fever broke at last which saw them relax; totally fatigued. ‘Start talking’, Ella said looking pointedly at both of them. ‘That’s Rahman Abubakar’, Oge replied and the look on her face confirmed that she recognised him. ‘Dude, you have a lot to explain’, Oge said looking at Tobi, ‘let me arrange dinner’. ‘Did you get him?’, the barritoned voice on the other end of the line said. ‘I lost him’, Ghost replied still wondering how it happened. The silence on the other line was unnerving to Ghost. He wondered what his fate was. ‘Rectify it’, the voice said and the phone went dead. A sigh of relief washed over him. That was close, he whispered. He wondered where Tobi was. A thought came to mind but he brushed it off. ‘No, he can’t have anything to do with this’, he reasoned but the thought kept nagging at his mind. ….News at 10, Gunshots were heard in Surulere area of lagos early this evening. Nobody seems to know what happened but the police are investigating. A description which fits Rahman Abubakar, the popular author, as the shooter was reported but the police is keeping a tight lip on this one. All citizens should remain calm. ……….. The operation on the stranger was successful and the doctor smiled at her staffs for a job well done. ‘Hope you feel better’, she said to the man, ‘what’s your name?’. The man looked lost and with a bleak look, he said, ‘I can’t remember’. The doctor frowned and looked at the nurse close by. Signs of amnesia, she mused sadly. www.realyans./2014/10/01/the-convict-the-broken-and-the-storyteller-links-to-the-part/ |

PMB started working on his first day in office or on even on his inauguration day. He moved command base from Abuja to Borno and I would say it has worked so far because explosions have only happened in Adamawa and Yobe unlike when Borno was the centre of Terrorism. . Also; the protection of pipelines bg militia has been cancelled. Tell me that's not a reasonable move. I'd rther have my able Military men guarding our pipes than militants who have no loyalty or would never listen to orders. www.nairaland.com/2382768/fg-cancels-pipeline-protection-contracts The Amnesty International report has also been asked to be probed by the new Attorney General of the federation.....When we talked about Change; we did not say it would be overnight. ..Even Rambo doesn’t attack his opponents blindly. ...so barcanista and his fans should take a chill pill and let's all work together. ....Change starts from us all |

being in opposite camps makes talking about football, politics and the likes interesting. More so when you have a staunch member of a side decamp to the other side. What started out as fun has become so stale and I wonder if barcanista does not get bored reading his posts. It was funny when he decamped from the APC to the PDP; people came for him and I felt he had a right to his choice. I also won a friend over to APC. But trying to justify your move by commenting on every APC/GMB issue is starting to sound boring. GMB travels for G7 meeting; barcanista go talk not minding that previous administrators travelled alot with enormous entourage. Something GMB has avoided so far takin few entourage. GMB hasn't released ministerial list; barcanista go talk not acknowledging that he has to choose competent people. You would think barcanista has stake in the ministry. GMB moves command centre to borno; barcanista has something to say not minding that this is a former military man that has knowledge of these things. I wonder if barcanista went to the military academy. So brother, take a chill pill. Get your facts, watch and when you oppose you could even win more decampees. |

Oge felt his heart pounding. So na so I go die, he thought frantically. ‘Please don’t kill me’, he pleaded looking at those dangerous eyes looking at him from his back seat noticeable even in the darkness, ‘I’ll give you anything you want’. ‘Oga shut up joor’, Tobi said obviously frustrated with the drama, ‘you’ll be dead already if I wanted to kill you’. That made Oge relax a little. He was tempted to switch on the light in the car but he did not give in. I don’t want him to change his mind, he reasoned, I no wan die. He prayed silently for an escape route. ‘What then do you want?’, he asked still frightened. ‘Your help’, Tobi said and proceeded to switch on the light. Oge got a good view of the two men and noticed one was bleeding. Tobi switched the light back off. ‘Is he dead?’, Oge asked; trying to control the panic that was building. Everything felt like a scene from a dream or movie; at least that was what he thought. ‘You too dey ask questions’, Tobi said with irritation, ‘he is alive, drive and keep calm’. Oge felt like protesting but he obeyed wondering what his fate was. ‘Should I take you to the hospital?’, he asked thinking of ways to escape the nightmare. ‘No hospitals’, Tobi replied. I no wan go prison again, he mused. ‘Did you shoot him?’, Oge asked after some minutes and got a grunt as a reply. ‘I saved him’, Tobi said finally. He suspected Oge did not believe him. I no blame you, he thought. ‘You should know him’, he continued, ‘Rahman Abubakar, that’s his book on your compartment’. Oge almost slammed on his brake. This is definitely a dream, he could feel his heart pounding, Rahman Abubakar in my car. ‘I think I know someone that can help’, Oge said finally, ‘I hope she’ll be willing’. ‘What happened?’, Oge asked. He remembered telling his friend, Tunmise, that the author would step on toes. He wondered whose toes. ‘Long story man, long story’, Tobi replied exhausted from the whole day. He knew his life was in danger if Ghost knew he betrayed him. it was for a good course bro, he mused. He tried to fight off sleep but nature took its course. Different thought raced through Oge’s mind as he drove. He noticed when Tobi slept and was tempted to drive straight to a police station or hospital but his instinct told him otherwise. I hope I’m doing the right thing, he whispered and drove on avoiding checkpoints. Ghost opened his eyes and saw different faces staring down at him. His head throbbed with pain. His mind was blank for some minutes. He tried to block all the whispers from his brain. A policeman helped him to his feet and they brought water on his head. Gradually, the scenes came back to him. He remembered everything bar when he wanted to pull the trigger. That was where I went blank, he reasoned. He wondered where Rahman was. He knew the cops wanted a statement so he acted dumb for some time to get his story straight. ‘Are you okay?’, a policeman asked him and he nodded. ‘What happened here?’, another one asked looking at him suspiciously. ‘I dey go on my own when I hear gunshot’, he said acting like an illiterate, ‘na so everybody run’. ‘How come you ended up here?’, one of the cops looked at him quizzically. ‘I see one man wey carry gun shoot another one there’, he said pointing to where he shot the lawyer, ‘I think say the man don go, I com go help am. I no remember anything after that’. He acted it so perfectly and he knew they believed him while the cops whispered and took down notes. ‘Can you describe the person with the gun?‘, a policeman asked him. He gave a faint description of Rahman as the shooter. He answered some few questions and they collected his details for further interrogation. ‘Where the other man dey?’, Ghost asked curiously. ‘Dead’, one of them said while taking down notes. ‘He can’t be of much help since he was just passing by’, the cop said to themselves. Ghost heard them talk, smiled and made his escape. Stupid fools, he whispered. He wondered who hit him from behind; if it was a random person. Something kept telling him it was a sabotage. I’ll get the person behind it, he vowed. Meanwhile Tolu was being rushed into a nearby hospital by a doctor accompanied by two cops. ‘Commence immediate surgery on him’, the doctor said. I hope he survives it, she prayed silently. Ella was off duty and used the opportunity to clean the house. She relaxed after the final round of cleaning and reminisced. She wondered why she had been thinking about him recently. I probably shouldn’t have listened to what others said about him, she mused, I let a good man go. She had been tempted to pick up her phone to call him but she always chickened out at the last minute. She sighed and wondered if he was in a serious relationship. She was still thinking when she heard the bell ring. ‘I’m coming’, she said wondering why her naughty friend comes only at night, ‘Wunmi, you no well’. She opened the door and was about scolding her friend when she got the shock of her life. The very man she had on her mind was standing right there infront of her. ‘Hi Ella’, Oge said; happy he met her at home. ‘Ehnm; hi’, She stuttered. ‘I need your help’, Oge said quietly. If only you knew how much this moment means to me, she thought. www.realyans./2014/11/19/the-convict-the-broken-and-the-storyteller-cbs-episode-8/ |

Storyteller (CBS) episode 7……the attack Ghost looked down at his obviously frightened target with eyes blazing. ‘Collateral damage’, Ghost said with a shrug, laughing devilishly. Rahman felt tears dropping and found himself asking ‘why’. He prayed silently for a miracle for both his life and that of Tolu, whose pulse was faint by now. ‘Just one question before you go join your friend,’ the menace asked with a smirk on his face, ‘who is your source’. ‘You’ve got the wrong person’, Rahman said finding his voice; obviously at the point of breaking down. I just need to stall him till someone comes to our rescue, he reasoned. ‘Your book was too accurate about Don’, Ghost said touching his gun to his head, ‘no waste my time. Give me a name’. Rahman was speechless. He wondered what the maniac wanted. Who is Don?, he wanted to scream but just held on to his friend. Ghost made a call and kept his eyes on his target. ‘He doesn’t want to talk’, he said into his phone and just nodded as he listened. The street was deserted. Nobody wants to die, Rahman mused as he realised no miracle was coming. He said his last prayers. ‘All you need to do is give me a name’, Ghost said frustrated about Rahman’s perceived stubbornness, ‘give me a link to your source for ‘The drug mogul”. ‘Is this about a book?’, a rush of rage rushed through Rahman’s veins as he found his voice, ‘that was purely offhand’. ‘Shut your mouth’, Ghost barked and launched a kick at Rahman that sent the author sprawling, ‘see this mumu’. Ghost wondered why Don did not order for his immediate demise. He was losing patience fast. ‘Who is your source?’, Ghost said aiming his gun at Rahman’s head; ready to pull the trigger. Rahman closed his eyes and, for the umpteenth time, said his prayers. Suddenly he heard a commotion; like someone hitting someone and a shot went off. He opened his eyes and saw someone on the floor and another man standing over him. He felt a pain in his chest and touched it with his fingers. He was shocked to feel a bullet wound and looked at it to confirm his fear. He could feel darkness coming over him and was unconscious before long. Tobi watched as the author slumped and rushed to check him. ‘Abeg no die o’, he pleaded. He blamed himself for not interfering earlier. He was glad when he realised Rahman just fainted, though he was losing blood fast. He looked at the other two men on the floor. He had watched as Ghost shot the other man and had watched the exchange from his hide out; undecided on whether to interfere or not. His instinct told him to. Your life depends on this, his mind told him. He wondered why his instinct did not come to his rescue when he was unceremoniously jailed. He had knocked Ghost senseless with a plank but the gun went off all the same. He carried Rahman and left the scene. Police go soon come, he reasoned. The lawyer barely looked alive so he left him to his fate. Sirens sounded faintly in the darkness so he passed a route he knew so well blending into the bush closeby. God please don’t let me go to jail for being kind again, he prayed silently. He saw an opening and decided to use it. A car parked close to where he stood with the author. He hid from the headlamp and watched as the driver went to get something. He made his move; half dragging, half carrying Rahman. This guy too heavy sef, he groaned. He let his wounded new friend into the car; happy to find it open. He prayed he was not in a policeman’s car. I no wan go prison, he whispered. Oge checked the water melon he wanted to get for his mother. He thought he heard his car door open and looked back to check but nothing was out of place so he paid for his items and went back to his car. Unconsciously, he realised he was in Ella’s area. He thought of checking on her but changed his mind. She has better things to do, he sighed. He was about accelerating when he heard something behind him. A man groaned in pain. He slammed on his brake. He looked behind him and saw two haggard looking men. To make matters worse, one was bleeding like it was running out of fashion. His heart stopped momentarily. www.realyans./2014/10/01/the-convict-the-broken-and-the-storyteller-links-to-the-part/ |

‘Oga, you too dull,’ Ghost said, obviously infuriated, ‘make you pull trigger, you dey fear’. Tobi did not bother explaining to him because he was still not sure what his strategy was. Ghost just drank his beer, still grumbling. ‘It’s your life bro’, he said finally, ‘I have a major hit tonight’. Tobi wondered why it was easy for him to talk about taking someone’s life without flinching. ‘..you go follow?’, Ghost voice slipped into his subconscious mind. ‘I’ll pass’, Tobi replied hurriedly which made his friend laugh, ‘what’s funny?’. ‘You too dey fear’, Ghost replied still laughing. Ghost briefed him about the target which shocked Tobi. He thought the target was a corrupt politician. ‘You want to kill a man because of what he wrote’, he asked stupidly, ‘You should target corrupt people’. ‘Am I Robinhood or Batman’, Ghost said, with ice, ‘Wake up from your sleep. Corrupt and rich people pay people like me’. He stood up angrily and walked away; not before throwing a parting shot at Tobi. ‘See how far your sanctimonious attitude has brought you’, he said. Tobi was left speechless. He has a point though, he reasoned. He saw the envelope Ghost left behind. After some minutes of deliberation, he opened it and saw the details of the target. He remembered reading a newspaper that featured an interview with the author – Rahman Abubakar. He carefully arranged the documents back into the envelope before his friend got back. Nawa o, he could not get it off his mind, na so person go die. The thought was on his mind when he slept off. Oge wondered why Ella’s images kept crawling into his dreams. He had stumbled on their pictures. I guess that’s what triggered the thought, he reasoned. He wondered if she was doing fine. He almost paid her a visit once but chickened out at the last minute for obvious reasons. She go don become big nurse by now, he thought while pacing around his room. He felt stupid for thinking about her when she must have obviously moved on. He found himself pondering if she was thinking about him too. That brought a smile to his face; just the thought of her having sleepless night because of him. Oga you have better things to do, he reminded himself. He continued packing what he needed for the weekend. He was on two weeks leave and he intended to enjoy it to the fullest; or rest as the case may be. Rahman and Tolu had spent the whole day signing one document or the other so they decided to enjoy the rest of the night at a bar. ‘I’ve been receiving calls all day with silence on the other end’, Rahman informed his lawyer, ‘I wonder who the prankster is’. ‘Maybe just an admirer who is shy to talk’, Tolu said smoothly, ‘moreover maybe na fine babe’. ‘I no get time for babe now’, Rahman said. ‘Aboki, you need Yarinya soon’, Tolu said laughing. He meant ‘wife’ in Hausa; which was Rahman’s tribe. ‘No be only Yarinya, na iyawo’, Rahman replied shaking his head but a smile tucked at his lips, ‘I just want to focus on my goals before facing any woman issues for now’. ‘Take your time brother’, Tolu said patting his friend on the back, ‘Babu Kudi, babu yarinya’. Rahman laughed so loud that everyone looked over at them. No money, no wife; he laughed at his friend’s ingenious coinage from an Hausa adage: Babu kudi, babu aboki – No money, no friend. ‘You no well’, he giggled. They talked some more and left the bar after some drinks. ‘When next we go see?’, Tolu said when they got to the car park. ‘I don’t even know,’ Rahman said thinking of when he would create time. ‘Just buzz me anytime’, Tolu said. ‘I really appreciate your help bro’, Rahman said sincerely, ‘I don’t know if I’ll have the chance to say it as often as I should’. ‘Don’t mention bro’, Tolu replied appreciating it all the same and gave his friend a hug. Just then a deafening shot rang out disturbing the serenity of the night. Rahman turned around but saw nothing but a sound from Tolu brought his focus back. He noticed a red spot on his friend’s shirt which was spreading. The shock on his friend’s face was matched only by his own. He caught his friend as he slumped. ‘No, Tolu..’ Rahman stuttered. Random thoughts filled his head, ‘someone please hellppp’. He tried to stop the bleeding when he noticed a movement out of the corner of his eyes. He looked up hoping to see an helper but he looked into eyes as deadly as a vampire. He stared at the eyes of a stone cold killer; the eyes of Ghost……. www.realyans./2014/10/01/the-convict-the-broken-and-the-storyteller-links-to-the-part/ |
