Romance5 Signs Your Relationship Is Ending by barnabas91(op): 1:05am On Aug 29, 2014
Once the honeymoon period is over most relationships fall into a comfortable pattern that might be short on the fireworks of the first year, but provides a stability and intimacy that feels great.

However, if that comfortable groove has started to feel more like an apathetic rut it might be time to take a long, hard look at your relationship and see if it’s likely to stand the test of time. Here are five ways to tell if your relationship is on the rocks…

You don’t communicate

If you come home from work, stick the telly on and don’t speak to each other beyond the occasional “Pass the crisps”, you’re in trouble. Communication is the key to every relationship and without it minor issues can flare up into fights and you’ll both end up feeling unloved and indifferent. If you don’t want to talk to each other about how your day was or chat and laugh together anymore, it’s a clear sign that you’re losing interest.

You rarely have sex

Once the initial excitement of a new relationship has worn off you will naturally have a bit less sex, but a strong desire for your partner and regular sex make for a healthy, functioning relationship. It may just be that your sex life has got a little bit routine and injecting some zest with a little bit of experimentation will put things back on an even keel, but if you still aren’t feeling it, it’s probably time to wave goodbye.

You imagine life without your partner

If you find yourself constantly having daydreams that fail to feature your partner it’s time to ask yourself some questions. You might long for a home free of their clutter and chat, or fantasise about a date with that hot new colleague, or wish you could just take a holiday alone: whatever it is, you’ve started to emotionally detach.

You pick fights

If you find your partner irritating and can’t resist constantly picking them up on their habits then the writing is on the wall. Relationships require empathy, compassion and compromise to keep going, so if you’ve jacked all that in in favour of snapping and bickering it’s time to get out of there.

You forget about the little things

Whilst big gestures are thrilling and romantic they don’t help maintain a relationship on a day-to-day level. A recent study funded by the Economic Science and Research Council found that the simple things – such as bringing your partner a cup of tea in bed – nurture a relationship much more than grand romantic gestures. If you’ve forgotten about those little things and rarely think to do anything for your partner, from offering them a cuppa to giving them a cuddle, then it’s time to forget about the whole thing and move on.

Do you agree? You can add yours

CultureWhy Do Some Cultures Require Women To Wear Veils? by barnabas91(op): 12:18am On Aug 29, 2014
In 2009, French president Nicolas Sarkozy gave a speech that called burqas "a sign of subjugation, of the submission of women." Sarkozy vowed that burqas, the facial veils worn primarily by Muslim women, would not be welcome in France because the country didn't believe that women should be "imprisoned" or "deprived of identity".
Veiling has been a particularly hot-button issue in France, which has the largest Muslim populationin western Europe. Just a year earlier, the country made headlines for denying citizenship to a woman who wore a veil. Despite the fact that her husband and children were born in France, authorities claimed that the woman had not assimilated properly, presumably assumedly because she refused to take off her veil. And it's not just a topic of discussion in France: British politicians such as Tony Blair and Jack Straw have said that the veil sets women apart, and Egyptian officials banned veils in university settings, citing concerns about security.
In the U.S., a judge dismissed a small-claims court case because the plaintiff refused to remove her face veil.
As Sarkozy's speech suggests, it's very hard for some people to imagine that women wouldn't want to remove their veils immediately if given the chance. Requiring women to wear a burqa is just one way that the Taliban terrorized women in Afghanistan; failing to don the garment earned women public beatings. After troops entered Afghanistan to take on the Taliban in 2001, reporters spoke of women walking into the streets and ripping off their veils. To some, this made the burqa an enduring symbol of an oppressive and dangerous regime.
That's not the only symbolism the burqa has taken on; the garment now means so many things to different people that it can be difficult to suss out its real meaning and purpose. To those like Sarkozy, the veil is a dehumanizing prison that turns women into second-class citizens. To others, the veil is a sign of modesty and piety as well as a badge of honor. It's possible to see the veil as a rejection of Western values and the uniform of a dangerous subculture, while some who wear the veil insist that a ban like Sarkozy's would represent censorship, repression and an affront to freedom of religion.
So what does the veil mean, exactly?

BusinessRe: How Western Union Services Was Upgraded In Nigeria With My Help by barnabas91: 1:12am On Aug 28, 2014
DeCleff: Last month paypal was launched in Nigeria with limited services which is opposite to what western union services used to be in Nigeria until their services was upgraded this month.

Before now, Nigerians were not allowed to send money out of Nigeria with western union but can only receive funds from friends and relatives outside the country.

So few days after paypal was launch in Nigeria with a service opposite to that of western union (Paypal Nigeria can't receive funds but can send funds abroad while western union can receive funds but cant send funds abroad). I went on western union facebook page and asked why Nigerians can't send money abroad via western union; then i was told that the limited service was decision of the Nigerian govt and not western union.

I then informed them that the same govt welcomed paypal with a limited service which enables Nigerians to send funds abroad but can't receive funds via paypal. I also suggested that they go back and renegotiate the policy with the govt because i was sure that if the govt could allow us send funds abroad via paypal that they will also consider western union as an alternative for transfering funds abroad.

They(Western Union) thanked me and promised to do something about it.

Just yesterday, i saw a headline on nairaland frontpage that Nigerians can now send send money abroad via western union and i was like ''wow so these guys actually took action and now Nigerians can send funds with ease?''.

I immedately went back to their fb page and thanked them and they also thanked me for letting them help.

EINSTEINPG: Come on brother, am i getting under your skin? Am just an admirer of transparency in terms of publication of admission lists coupled with aggregate scores of admitted candidates on-line. But if unilorin can not simply do that then it does not deserve to be defended. Because defending it is tantamount to a desperate attempt to kiss one's elbow which is practically impossible. Or you want to give it a try?
Sure, other universities do have their own shares of arbitrariness. especially UI which incidentally happens to be the precursor of unilorin's existence. As a matter of fact, Unilorin's unwritten law of connection was inherited from Ui. But unilorin can outgrow this archaic system of admission and consolidate its glory of being the Best university in Nigeria. After all, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Again, defending unilag is completely out of the question. Because i stand to gain nothing by doing that, but as a transparency lover, it is incumbent upon me to commend its admission system, for once you make or beat the cut-off mark of your course of choice, your admission is guaranteed provided you have the required valid documents at your disposal.
Guy you are speaking trash...must you give us a long list of handout before you make your opinion known. Great men are known with their few words bro. Dangote no go schl but em rich die, u bęţţęŗ calm ur head o.

ejiykzazi2007: D small fund the FG had made available ova the years for universities doesnt not even reflect on the standard of learnin
We only see lecturers buyin cars nd landed properties, to b sincere these lectures are more less concerned about d affairs of the students than d FG.
In school then, a lecturer just come to class, dictate note for 1hr nd leaves, we are to go and read up nd recopy those note during exams. Another comes nd solve a problem on the board nd teach us how to solve it, we wil solve dsame during exams. Since I graduate all I learnt during skul I hvnt used, I tod my frnds dat d only thing University did for me was making me find new frnds, evrytin I know today, I read and studied on my own with d help of books, they didnt teach me anytin.

On my opinion, I wil advocate for d scrapping of universities, primary and secondary schools shud be brought to life to teach most of d tins bin taight in universities, after which we go for vocational trainings, learn skills and help in boosting the production capacity of this country. All we learn in class in Nigeria, doesnt help at all. Cos our employas do train us on different tins entirely bfore we are able to wok. We shud say no to universities in Nigeria nd yes to the creatin of vocational training centres. I blive that was wot tok china to where they are now nd not universities...

learn skills
i totally agree with you.. That is why it is good for us to learn skills while in schl, or even start a business, so you won't fall to dis FG crap after yu graduate. As 4 me, i no fit be govt workaholic aftr schl IJN... Not my portion. Monkey dey work, baboo dey chop, dats the nature of our country.
