It is better to remove the subsidy. If Nigerians had agreed to this move, we wouldn't have been in this mess. Subsidy is not working. With subsidy, Nigerians still pay far more than what they would have paid if subsidy is removed. Imagine people queued up for fuel at N300. What business will they use that one for? Meaning that businesses that rely heavily on fuel has to increase the prices of their products or services. In a situation where this is not possible, loss is inevitable. God helps Nigeria

Sacking of employees is no longer news, it is a global phenomenon. May be the trend is just reaching us here in Nigeria. Forget about all these blue chip companies. There is limit to what they can do in term of employment creation. A blue chip can invest $1m to create 500 jobs. Give $10m to 1000 entrepreneurs to start small businesses, they will not only create jobs for themselves, they can create additional 5,000 jobs. US economy and other developed countries are mostly driven by small businesses. If Nigeria wants to grow, our own cannot be different. With adequate entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, you can actually sack your employer before they sack you.

May God save us in this country. When the minimum responsibility for safety cannot be met, how will such company have social responsibility in mind.

It is actually not a list of the websites. The sites curates articles from various websites. It is very rich in content. |
It is true that for every adversity, there are opportunities. When I say that fuel scarcity boosts my productivity, many may quickly think that I am one of those guys carrying Jerry Can selling fuel by the road side at very exorbitant prices. No! The scarcity and the hike in price affected me too. But instead of bemoaning the situation, I quickly realised that I may not be able to do anything about the situation. What I needed was to adjust some things and quickly adapt. See what I did below: 1. Since I cannot afford to put on my generator for a long time the way I used to do, I only put on my generators in the evening time. Firstly, I use my bigger generator to power the pumping machine. When the tank is full, I change to "I-pass-my-neighbour" which consumes less fuel. During this period, I ensure my two laptops are fully charged, ready for wok the following day. Meanwhile, this second laptop has been lying there since except when I need some information from it. 2. Since I don't have all day long to work with the laptops, I simply prioritize my work thereby forcing me to focus on the most important ones. It also forces me to work faster to avoid battery power outage. Surprisingly, the time that seemed not enough for me to perform my tasks now becomes more than enough. This even enables me to do more. 3. I reduce the length of time I stay on the internet. I limit myself to those websites that give me what I need. Do you want to find out the websites: Here are my list and the reasons for my choice a. www.nairaland.com: I choose this website as it keeps me updated about the current situation in Nigeria. Though some subjects may not be important to me but I know where to get what I need on the site. Every vital happening in Nigeria is just at a click to be get updated. b. www.businessinfohub.com. I read business articles a lot. Since I don't have time to start searching or browsing various websites, I go directly to this website because from there, I can choose from tons of articles which are curated from various top websites on small business and entrepreneurship in general. They do the search for me, then I read. That has been my experience so far! You can share your own experience for other people to read. |
I am touched! If this letter can make Nigerian Youth angry to the point of taking action towards entrepreneurship, I will be most happy. Our time can be spent reading valuable materials on the internet instead of poking funny videos and photos which does not add any value. For those who will like to join this race to entrepreneurship, you can learn a lot at http://businessinfohub.com.

Agriculture, especially growing of plants and rearing of animals. You depend largely on God to bring you rain in its season. That is why peasant farmers' businesses might not be affected by this fuel scarcity.

As I was coming from the Church this afternoon, there are people struggling to buy fuel at a filling station at the rate of N300/litre along Agbara/Atan Road of Ogun State. What has Nigeria turned to? What is the fate of manufacturing companies that depend on power to manufacture their products. Electricity, no way; Fuel, a disappointment. Nigeria we hail thee! To our young entrepreneurs, please don't give up. With persistence, we shall surely win.

The primary objective of establishing your business is to make profits; not even to make profits but to maximize profits. Except you are running a non-profit organization, this should be your motive as a business man or woman. Unfortunately, not all businesses are able to achieve this primary objective. The truth is that, if any business fails in this area, then there is no reason to remain or continue in such business. Whether you are struggling to make profits or you want to increase your profits, these can be achieved in these four ways. But in all, the third point as enumerated below is the simplest and more practicable. 1. Increase Your Sales Volume Before you can breakeven in any business, not to even talk of making profits, you should be able to sell at least a certain minimum number of your products. This level is called Breakeven Point. Any sales above that level if you maintain your margin will cause you to record gains. So, if you want to increase your profits, you need to increase your sales volume without necessarily cutting down your margin. In an attempt to increase sales, some people adopt various methods which include, selling on credits, reducing price or giving discounts. Of course, all these can boost your sales but they all have their limitations. For example, if you sell on credits, there is no guaranty that the customers will pay back. This will lead to bad debts which will ultimately erode your profits. If you know that you want to sell on credits, it is advisable that you only sell to customers you can vouch their credit worthiness. Also, you can establish a credit limits for each customers so that they are not allowed to buy beyond their credit capacity. Credit term should be clearly established and agreed upon so that both of you know the payment period. If you reduce your price, this may bring more revenue but it will lead to lower margin on sales. If this happens, you may be surprised to discover that there is no corresponding increase in your profits. Your profits can even be lower. Giving of discount seems good but this must be done with caution. Otherwise, it will soon become a standard that you must give discount every time a customer buys. You should be able to justify the reason for the discount. For example, it can be a quantity discount. This means that any customer that buys up to certain quantity of your product(s) will benefit from such discount. It should not be for every Dick and Harry 2. Increase Price If you operate in a market where you can easily increase your price without losing customers, you can take advantage of this. But if you sell commodity in a very competitive market, you may not be able to do this. If there is any way you can add value to what you sell which can justify the increase in price, customers may be ready to pay. But this must be very convincing and the customers have the ability and are ready to pay for the extra. Are you talking about people with HR certification or it includes other professionals such as accountants that render recruitment services. We should also remember that there are some recruitment websites where information about careers/vacancies are posted. If what you want includes the aforementioned groups of individuals, there are websites that provide the services. On request, I can make the list of the ones I know to you. This can benefit other members of the forum too. |
