TheSuperNerd: Was not defending Liverpool. Just stating the obvious on Brewster. Compared to Balogun, Rhian should definitely go for more. And Balogun is not worth 15M. And I dont care about ki-Jana. But even his price is below 15M. All I want is for Arsenal to sort Folarin Balogun's future out so that the lad can play football with a stable mind. I rate the lad.
Balogun is not far behind Brewster. If Brewster is going for 25m,Balogun shouldn't be going for 3M. Arsenal will be selling themselves short if they accept Shefield's derisory £3M offer when they already rejected £8m from Brentford this January for the same player.
elyte89: Maybe u didn't watch him under siasia in 2016
Ekong is simple defender. Has his areas of strength but asking him to make defense splitting passes like David Luis or drive the game forward from deep like Lucio, you are on your own.
TheSuperNerd: Arsenal is indeed crazy. And unlike Balogun, Brewster got his first team action in the Championship for Swansea. Bagged 10 goals for them in 20 appearances. What are Balogun's first team stats anywhere? Nothing b'cos he hasn't even made a first team showing anywhere.
That said, it is justifiable for Brewster to go for a lot higher than Folarin especially after the former's showing in the Championship.
As you were defending Liverpool, they were negotiating a £13.5M for Ki-Jana, an academy player without first team action. Balogun might sign an extension with Arsenal and go out on loan. I heard his main grouse with Arsenal was not being protected enough when Emery decided not to take him to America for pre season.
daveP: Is Iwobi now surplus to requirements? If yes, which team in the Epl will he fit into right now. Chai. Seeing him chilling at poolside.... Get as e be
Crystal palace/Fulham/Brighton and Holve Albion somewhere like that. He can have a decent career in a small team. Some people can't handle the pressure playing for an ambitious side, maybe he's that kind of person.
TheSuperNerd: Arsenal is crazy to ask for such amount. How many senior games has Folarin even played? How many EPL goals sef?
I like that Folarin kid and I want him out of Arsenal ASAP but it seems Arsenal is playing hard ball. I personally feel Folarin is better than Nketiah having watched both but Nketiah is just the lucky one. Folarin needs a place where he will continue his growth and be given first team opportunities abeg and not this thing Arsenal is doing with him.
Arsenal is not crazy slapping that amount on him. When Brewster's valuation by Liverpool is 25M with no first team action, just like Balgoun.
Gerrard59: Also, you don't expect a company to pay her staff more than she generates in revenue. Loans have to be repaid, profits to be reinvested, expansionary projects, dividends to be paid etc. That said, the GDP growth has not increased above 2% in the last five years. How then do you expect businesses to pay their staff very well? Everything boils down to the economy and how it's being managed. Additionally, rather than steal, these employees have the choice of resigning.
I agree with you on the economy. It is a catch 22 situation. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Workers are motivated if they are well enumerated. This is basic human psychology and the developed world have come to terms with this long ago, that is reason for the differential in basic living wage over there and here in Nigeria.
Take for instance, if the minimum wage was pegged at 100k, do you really think your poultry attendant will steal eggs and chicken at the close of work? 100k might seem unrealistic with the present economy but if things must improve, the Gdp and per capita income but be distant from where it is currently.
You can't curry out honesty out of a desperately poor man. You may succeed for a short while but only a matter of time.
Nigerians are experts in running things down. I have seen hotels, filling stations, super markets, transportation companies, run down by petty thieves in the name of managers.
However, we must lookat the living conditions of these blue collar workers. Most companies lack proper welfare package for their workers. You can't pay a man N15k in this present economy and expect 100% honesty from him. Even the honest ones will learn sharp practices just to make ends meet.
Trumps intelligence team must have briefed him that Buhari is in bed with the herds men responsible for the mayhem around the country. And to be honest, Buhari failed to address his question especially when the governor of his home state and party member was seen snapping selfies with an Ak47 wielding terrorist.
kikero: Yes, they were paying subsides for the power sector because that was the structure they met in place which was enshrined in law by the previous government
The previous government, while privatizing power, put in place a system whereby discos were forced to charge below the cost of production of electricity
This put discos in a difficult situation. As a result, they had to keep on rejecting power because they have been making losses due to the fact that it costs 53 naira to produce one kWh of power, yet discos had to sell it between 21 to 30 naira.
So the current government ended up paying discos subsides of a trillion naira each year, partly with loans to prevent them from losing money and collapsing. Even then it isn't enough because that just covers the difference between the cost of production and selling power
Of course, the current government could not reverse the system without falling into legal issues
Slight correction, subsides on power between 2015-18 amounted to a trillion naira , not trillion annually. The error is regretted
Why does it cost N53 to generate 1KW of electricity in the first place? How did they arrive at this figure?
mostob: England just pack Right full backs inside team. Walker, Arnold and trippier. Saka wants to play as a winger and judging from this squad, he won't displace anybody there.Ings, Kane,Greenwood, Foden ,Rashford All the best for Tammy BTW , where is Tomori.
Ings, Kane, Tammy, Rashford are all no 9s. Sterling, Sancho Greenwood and Saka should have been their options on the wings.
Philosopher1979: Well, you have to consider the stockport iniesta (Phil Phoden). The only thing Grealish has over him is age and experience.
Foden is a great talent but com'on! Foden won't almost single handedly save Aston Villa from relegation is he switched sides with Grealish. I'm I communicating?
Edopesin: Saka is trending at number 3 with English guys advising him to switch to Nigeria
he probably turned down Southgates invite and chose Nigeria fingers crossed
He probably declined the 3 Lions invite privately. The boy is a straight A's student. He is that smart unlike Tomori who doesn't really look intelligent.
elunico: He couldn't have taken anyone's place in that list anyway.
Saka and Grealish couldn't have replaced anyone on the list. Yeah? Hopefully, this edges Saka closer to the Super Eagles. Saka...... Osimhen...... Chukwueze front 3 will surrender many international defenders. The world is not ready
No sensible arsenal faithful, myself inclusive, will rate Willock high, even to downgrade Iwobi. Just stop!
Iwobi is by far, a more technical and better chance creator than Willock.
Enough with the Willocking pls!!!
This argument is stale but this is Willock. A 19yr old player capable of scoring screamers like this away against Liverpool is someone who you don't rate high? No disrespect, but you don't sound like a ball fan to me not to talk of Arsenal fan.
mostob: His shooting ability. Dude's shots are like pregnant woman's. This,i guess contributed greatly to his poor goal return.
I recall vividly a point Emery hired a personal coach for Iwobi to work on his finishing. That same season Iwobi returned just 3goals and 4 assists. Iwobi is can be tidy at times with odd nutmeg here and there but that's just about it. Every other thing is unpolished.
mostob: Martinelli is a striker bro...and also it is easier to get assists from crosses and cut backs is Saka's case. As for that willock wey you bring,it is laughable. You can't use goals only to compare Joe with Iwobi. Arsenal are 16th in term of goalscoring chances created this season. That should tell you why we really missed Iwobi in the final third. Iwobi might be inconsistent but all your arguments were bore on hate. Willock of all people? Damn
Marinelli himself said he preferred playing on the left. Maybe you probably know Martineli more than Martineli. Watch his goal against Chelsea and tell me his starting position in that game. Even in cup games when Arsenal played him up-front because Nkatiah was out on loan, he always attacked from the left.
Iwobi is tidy player but not the kind of player to run your offense. His end product is flat out poor. 3 youngsters promoted in his stead all out performed him this season and yet, you claim Arsenal made an error selling him. Iwobi can have a decent career of course but it appears he wasn't destined to play for the top dogs. Watch him shine at Crystal Palace, Aston Villa or somewhere like Southampton with less pressure.
mostob: The same Willock that can not make a simple pass to save his life? And you lied about Arsenal having no problem getting rid of him. Damn! I only blame Emery. Dude really fumbled with that single transfer.
Jezz. Arsenal effectively replaced Iwobi's goals and assists with Saka, Martineli and Willock's contribution. Individually these young boys outscored Iwobi this season. Iwobi scored 3 goals in his last season for Arsenal. Each of these boys scored more than that in their first season. Selling Iwobi was a smashing decision. Evertonians are claiming Arsenal scammed them.
