If not for the security nightmare, it would have been worth it for Nigeria to host the Afcon. It's overdue but the timing is not right for even the foreseeable. Sad

Wow! Wow! Wow!
The Afcon is looking more exciting than the Premiership. Never thought I'd say this.
Incredible football being played here.
No team parking the bus.

Those guys are truly Stallions. They dont stop running.
They are so skillful. Truly a fantastic, my favourites in this tournament. They will beat both Senegal and Morroco.
Abit of a back story, their coach, Hubert Velud was shot in the arm back in 2010 when the Togo team bus was attacked enroute Angola.
He has unfinished business with the Afcon.

It's 1-1 now but I have my money on them to beat Algeria grin

CIV coach goofed for not inviting Zaha
Zaha never settled in the dressing room. He was like a fish out of water because he couldn't speak any French. He's had serious issues with assimilation due to language barrier that's why he hasn't blended with the group since his debut.

You can ban me or delete my comment but being nairaland famous is like being Rich in Monopoly..

You're being hilarious. As if Bassey have been world class over the past few years for club and country. His ill-fated time at Ajax is still fresh and the comment you quoted was on a match day Bassey gave Spurs 2goals.

Let's enjoy the win and not bring unnecessary negativity. We have suffered enough from minors getting results against us, going entire calendar year without a single win and even our world cup hopes in jeopardy. Pipe down
Sports / Re: AFCON: Uzoho Finally Looses His No. One Shirt To Stanley Nwabili Ex NPFL Player by Barryseal: 1:34pm On Jan 19
Uzoho rode on the Deportivo Lacarona tax to swindle past Super eagles handlers. They believed since he made a few cameo appearance in Spain, he was the best goalkeeper for Nigeria regardless his many personal errors.

We have been suffering and waffling about with Uzohos and the likes when we have competent hands who can do the job.

Switch up Uzoho with Nwabili, we would have qualified for the last World Cup. But you know, Uzoho trained at Deportivo and Nwabili was in the Nigerian league.
Never again!

A draw won't be favourable tonight as we have to rely on Ivory coast beating Eq Guinea in their last match by atleast 2goals.
The lack of winning culture in this team must be arrested, starting from today!

I won't be too excited about Nwabili.. he was composed and confident yesterday, yes, but he was barely tested...we can't say for sure how good he is until he faces some real threat..CIV will definitely provide that
Uzoho didn't even have to be tested to parry balls into his own net. Let's call a spade a spade, Uzoho is not a national team material and Nwabili doesn't have to do anything extra ordinary to better than him.
I say this with my chest, Uzoho can't bench any keeper in the NPFL if he played in Naija.

I don’t care the position he played in that game but judging by your take he should be a super eagles regular till date because of the sumptuous goal he scored against Atleti
You make it sound as if Nwakali have been up to nothing. Wasn't he named man of the match in his club's game just this December?

This is how some of us have been clamouring for a change in the Gk position and midfield. Today Nwabili and Al hassan put up a commanding performance.

Same will happen when Igho Ogbu and Nwakali are brought in.

Also he have been able to attract suitors from bigger clubs and the ones in bigger leagues like sporting Lisbon, strasbourg and Hellas Verona

Moreover when Nwakali made it to europe Al Hass was still playing grassroot football in Kano 🀣🀣😜😜😜😜
So Nwakali has to be wanted by Lisbon and Strasbourg before he can help Nigeria? 🀣

Nwakali supporters are the problem of this thread. How you guys glorify and hail the mysterious talent of this journeyman that is invisible to top club scouts in germany, england, italy, spain and even france baffles me

You guys need to come of it.
Here we go! Lets wait for Man City to sign him before we believe he is good! We are Nigeria you know, the country with 5 world cup trophies.

Then you are asking him to do the impossible. I thought the function of Nwakali was to come and give long passes. Okay Nwakali will dictate tempo? We'll then but my point is that Iwobi did his bit
Dictating plays from midfield goes beyond playing long passes. The Deeplying midfielder should have the most touches of the ball. The game goes through him, both short and long passes. I can't remember Iwobi switching the game from left to right or from right to left. I'm not saying Iwobi is a poor player but Nwakali does these effortlessly. Is it that you guys don't watch football enough to understand what Nwakali brings?

The DLM is supposed to be an arsonist and a fire fighter. He can turn the heat up when gamestates demand it yet quell the flames others ignite.

And yes the fire fighting is done on the ball like Jorginho & off the ball like Rice.

Can you list a Nigerian midfielder you know who can do the above listed effortlessly if you exempt Nwakali?

Iwobi might struggle with playing from deep but not in this match. He comfortably threaded splitting passes from deep today. If his passes had been converted, you'd not be so confident to post this today.
How about the turnovers? Can you say he dictated the tempo of the game the way a real deep lying midfielder does? A one off pass here and their doesn't cut it. He's supposed to have absolute control of the game. Watch Rodri or Toni kross

Victor Osimhen is not the finished product yet. He needs to practice yoga or something to calm his spirit. He's too rash and hurried, this explains alot of short coming in his game.
He should watch Eto'o or Harry kane tapes to help him. He can't keep relying on scoring headers. Someone tell him a gentle chip or placement could do the magic sometimes.
