xxxx999jon: I really don't understand this people who try to claim they have knowledge,am not a fan of the former CJN,but do they understand that the supreme Court when in session and judgment is made up of 7 Justice?who all will deliver their own version of Judgement with a judgment for or against and 4 to 3 been declared winner .,so why vilify the late CJN?what happened to the others ..or you lots thinks the CJN can order other Justice of the Supreme Court around like his minors? It was actually a 6 to 1 judgement in favour of Hope Uzodinma. This clearly shows Hope brought compelling evidences and probably the defense did a terrible job or were overconfident and didn't provide the necessary counter evidences. Whatever be the case, even if the CJN was on the panel, he has just 1 vote out of 7 |

6 supreme court judges gave a judgement in favour of Hope Uzodinma, yet you try to villify the late CJN who was most likely not on the case.
Justice is blind, judgements are given based on available evidence(s) not public sentiments.
Certain persons derive joy in speaking evil about the dead. Was it also Tanko who voted Hope in for his 2nd term? |

aylipple: It’s such a shame that this even has to be restated to people who are purportedly educated, have a phone and access to internet. Onne Port is active and receives cargoes (maybe not in the same frequency as Apapa and Tin Can) with some of the largest container ships to ever sail Nigerian waters, berthing there. If it’s not being patronized regularly like Apapa or Tin Can, I don’t see how that’s Lagos’ fault especially when it’s not like the Ports in Lagos have lower or cheaper port fees than Onne. Funny enough, since inception, of the 27 GMs/MDs of NPA since inception, only two people of Yoruba origins have headed the place in substantive capacity; the rest are mostly northerners, few Southsoutherners or Southeasterners (I just had to state this regrettably because some people may ignorantly believe Yorubas deliberately gave Lagos Ports undue advantage over other Ports and also because NPA is the constitutionally recognized body solely responsible for giving approvals for Ports establishment, operations and management among others) Well said. Rivers state also receives 13% oil derivation and generates the 2nd most IGR in Nigeria. I believe Rivers receives more monthly from FG than Lagos does. |

There is no ship that berths at Apapa that cannot berth at Onne. Onne port is working fine and ships are berthing there. What is stopping Rivers state? |

However, for every action, he should expect a reaction that need not be equal. The North-Southwest alliance as was conceived may be dead. It's currently one-sided. There may be a need to rewrite the terms if it is to continue. Otherwise, it's "to thy tents, Oh Israel!" Was BAT the president, the governor of Kwara state or the commandant of OPC? What about from 2012-2014 the 21m USD increase at the time the oil prices were almost at an all time high. The time when states agreed to share all the Excess Crude Account instead of save for the future, yet PO doubled the state's external debt in that period with nothing to show for it. |

AlphaMogul: I stated that parts of Yorubaland in Kogi and Kwara wear red chieftaincy cap. The veteran investigative journalist, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju of TVC and the co-anchor of the internationally popular Journalists Hangout comes from a Yoruba community in Kogi State where red chieftaincy caps are worn. He received a chieftaincy title from his traditional ruler and it was shown CLEARLY on TVC a few years back. A few Yoruba communities too wear that red chieftaincy cap. Chief Sunday Awoniyi from Kogi State who was the FIRST EVER Yoruba man to become the Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum back in the 2000s also wore that red chieftaincy cap. Chief Awoniyi's son was the architect 'Yomi Awoniyi who once served as a Deputy Governor of Kogi State. So, head on over to read more and get your facts right.
The over 80 million people of Yorubaland stretching from the Yoruba-speaking parts of Nigeria, to Benin Republic and parts of Togo (Atakpame region) do NOT have a monolithic culture BUT there are slight regional differences in dialects, cultural practices and foods eaten just like every other major cultural group on Earth. Parts of Yorubaland ALSO have different Yoruba names for the same thing. An example is the Yoruba beans delicacy called "Moyin-Moyin" (sometimes shortened in recent years to "Moin-Moin" with the letter "Y" being silent) which is ALSO called "Olele" in Yoruba with both words referring to the same thing. The walnut is called "Awusa" or "Asala" in Yoruba language. Aso-Oke itself is ALSO called Aso-Ofi which is worn by the highly placed in the society.
Other parts of Yorubaland may NOT have the traditional of wearing the red chieftaincy cap BUT Yoruba-speaking parts of Kwara and Kogi States do.
I hope that helps. I appreciate your attempt to explain your assertion, but I must disagree with you. Politicians have their personal styles and that can not be misconstrued as the culture of their people. Chief Sunday Awoniyi is known to associate more with Northern Nigeria than Yoruba, his choice of cap is just his personal style. BKO on the other hand received a chieftaincy title from Igboland and not his village, Ekinrin-Adde. That was why he was adorned on a red cap. I have at different times been dressed in Hausa Caps, SS Hats and SW caps depending on the look I want for the occasion. This cannot also be generalised for my tribe. |
Fashion › Re: Records Back Omokri’s Claim Linking ‘Okpu Agu’ To Colonialists by Baselm: 8:00pm On Jun 25, 2025 |
AlphaMogul: Please NOTE these historical facts!
The red chieftaincy cap is ORIGINALLY of Middle Belt of Nigeria origin and was brought from Igalaland where it was ORIGINALLY introduced into the Nsukka area from where it spread to other parts of the South East of Nigeria that didn't even come under the influence of the Igala Kingdom and culture like Anambra, Enugu, and parts of Delta North such as Asaba, Okpanam, etc.
The other parts of the Middle Belt of Nigeria ALSO CLEARLY wear the red chieftaincy cap from the Yorubas of Kwara and Kogi States, Ebiras and Igalas of Kogi State and outside Kogi State, the Jukuns, etc.
So, the red chieftaincy cap is NOT originally indigenous to the sub-tribes now collectively known as Ibos east of river Niger. False. The Yorubas of Kwara and Kogi DO NOT wear red caps traditionally. |
