Having read many comments, and response to persons who share their story here on Nairaland and received several advice and positive opinions, I now have the courage and confidence to divulge on you for your guidance and recommendations.

Am a Law student in one of the state University, currently in my sophomore year, I'm in state dilemma as to what step to take next in life, because of my present situation in life, I'm the first child in the family of 4 and taking responsibility of my younger ones'. Because of the burden and responsibilities on me, my school fees, my needs and that of my kid ones' considering how things are tough for me, i think it will be difficult for me to continue my studies at this time.
I'm considering dropping out of school to huzzle or learn handwork to meet my kid ones' need and make life easy for us, because things are really difficult for us now. But will appreciate your candid advice on what to do, drop out to learn handwork? Which handwork will you suggest for me?

They don't need to attend your local church to grow, there are other churches where they can do that.

If you are average in mathematics, especially Further mathematics, save yourself the stress and go for architecture. Both are nice courses, I had this same dilemma some 12 years ago, I chose civil and I never regretted it. I also have architect friends who are doing well.
If you are strong in further mathematics and physics, go for civil engineering.

Quantity Surveyor
Mechanical And Electrical Engineer
Builder
ELV Engineer........they all depend on Architectural design to survive........... So Architecture is the way

Does an architect build road, bridges, dams, jetties, airways and other structures civil engineers design and construct? You people have a myopic view of civil engineering but think you know so much. Any civil engineer who applies himself to be better will eventually make it, the start might be tough though

Dumb take, I am a civil engineer and I as well as a lot of my colleagues are doing well. Stop projecting your experience on others.

Achitect,they are always recognized as the achitecture of the design,they are always needed till the project is done, engineer leaves after the structural design is done

Civil engineering is more than just building. Architects have nothing to do on a bridge design and construction, Highway design, Dams, Jetties, and other structures civil engineers work on. The only place civil engineers meet architects is on building structures

If there is any Engineering that sells in Nigeria, it is civil engineering. What are the major projects our national budget goes into? Civil engineering constructions. Be grounded in the use of softwares like AutoCAD, Orion, Staadpro and you will survive the few rough years after graduation.

It is a course you can easily go into private practice too. Maybe I am biased cos I am a civil engineer, but that's my advice

What’s wrong with spending N1billion on supervision of over N500billion contracts? You guys just cry over everything. Effective day to day project supervision cannot be done by staff of the ministry. They don’t even have the staff strength to do that.

Every road construction/rehabilitation project has an engineering design contract and a supervision contract. Using ministry staff for supervision will be a violation of the public procurement act. Such services must be contracted to consultants after an open competitive bidding process.

Under Jonathan, around N4billion was budgeted annually for supervision. Fashola is even the one bringing it down and tying payment to actual road construction performance. It was a free for all under the PDP.

Nigerians are just sensational beings. How much is #1Bn when split across the various projects ongoing for a whole year. I am sure a lot of consultants will still be owed with this money.

Get hold of Coren approved man hour charges for engineers and do the math? Aside the man hour charges, other major expenses including project vehicles, transportation, accomodation, security, stationery etc.

If consultants are not well enumerated, they would connive with contractors and allow substandard practices, materials etc
