Nigeria ‘s total public debt is expected to fall to N38trn by December 2021, said Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

The Minister mentioned this during her presentation to the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts on Tuesday, 3 November.

The Minister said: “The total public debt stock comprising the foreign and domestic debts of the federal and state governments and the Federal Capital Territory amounted to N31.01 billion (USD 85.90 billion) as at 30 June 2020.

“It is expected, based on the current approval, to grow to N32.51 trillion by 31 December 2020 and N38.68 trillion by 31 December 2021.”

Keatlhotse Mothowakae, 25, was convicted for raping his ex-girlfriend in 2015 and 2016. He was sentenced in the Mothibistad Regional Court in Kimberley, Northern Cape. 

On the day of the rape incident the victim was walking from church to home, when she was accosted by Mothowakae.


During the court proceedings it emerged that Keatlhotse Mothowakae was sitting under the tree from where he grabbed his ex-girlfriend as she was passing by. He dragged her to his residence, threatening to kill her with a pair of scissors and raped her.

The Lagos state government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools in the state following the ongoing End SARS protest.



The order was contained in a statement released on Monday October 19 by the state’s Head of Public Affairs, Ministry of Education, Kayode Abayomi. The statement quoted the state Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, as saying that the schools were shut down over “tension generated by the anti-SARS protests.”



The statement reads in part



“The Lagos State Government has directed all pupils/students in public and private schools to stay at home following the tension generated by the anti-SARS protests.
