Goethe institute is the only school that can give you a language proficiency certificate in Nigeria. Google it and get the information. You can attend classes there or just write exams there

Sorry about your nasty experience about the family reunion process. Bear in mind that longer time for your processing does not indicate that something is wrong. Berlin is a big city and they have lots of applications on their table. They always complain of shortage of staff too.

What you can do at the moment now is to change your immigration lawyer because obviously his best is not good enough. He/she needs to be proactive.

Also, tell your husband to write physical letters to the Ausländer in Berlin and submit it in person stating clearly the timeline of your processing.

Aside the letters, he should make calls and also wrote mails to them. Most times when the time is long like this, the issue is from Germany and not Nigeria. That was what happened to me when I was on my processing too. Within a week of the approval form Germany, I received my approval mail. Nigeria only waits for approval from Germany after your credentials have been verified.

Just keep calm and never ever forget the place of prayer. I can understand the frustration and the anxiety but don’t let it weigh you down. Your testimony comes forth.

I was in the same situation as you. I had my interview on the 5th of August, 2021 and my spouse was supposed to pack to a new apartment on the 1st of September. And, he only had approval of the new apartment. No Meldebescheiniung from them yet. I presented the two at the interview and they collected both when I explained to them. They gave me the official mail of the embassy to send the house contract as soon as he gets it. And I did just that.

You would be given the official mail to send the documents as soon as you get it.

My reunion interview at the embassy is on 25th of this month.
My spouse’s Meldebescheinigung (almedung) will change as he will be moving to a new town on 1st of june.
I plan to submit the current one where he lives right now but he will be moving from there on 28th may.
how do i inform the embassy of this update after the interview so i can submit the new Meldebescheinigung?

I’m so sorry to hear about this rejection from the German embassy. When they requested your insurance and travel dates, I thought they were done with their verification and investigation.

As it stands now, you need a reputable immigration lawyer that can take up the case. But on the hindsight, I have a strong feeling that your spouse may know something about the rejection. Perhaps she changed her mind and didn’t inform you about it again.

When the Consulate in Lagos sends you an approval message, it means they have received approval from the foreign office here in Germany. They don’t send approval messages without hearing from the foreign office. That was what happened to me.

Lagos was done with my verification since September, 2021 but foreign office refused to send approval. They claimed they were short staffed and Covid had an impact too. The day they responded to them at Lagos, (1st March, 2022) they sent a message to my spouse and briefed him about the approval sent to Lagos. They apologised to him too. In two weeks, I received my approval.

Please talk to your spouse and know where the issue came from.

3yrs and a rejection.. this is heartbreaking. What could be the concrete proof they have that your marriage is for visa? Is your marriage certificate not authentic? Did the lawyer make any remarks when he came for verification? Is your wife on social kassa? Is she white? You can use your own account as proof of funds. Let your wife excalate the matter in Germany. She needs to write lots of letters in German, she needs to go to the offices. Search online for guidelines too and then get a lawyer. I wish you goodluck.

My A1 cert is 14 months old now. It expired in January after 12 months. I honestly don't know what the 6 months visa means. It used to be 3 months. In fact I know of people that got 2 months. That's how it is being given. It will be extended on getting to Germany.

The idiot lawyer that investigated me was smart. He said we can't discuss it on phone. He told me to put away my phone when we wanted to talk about it. He said if I agree to pay, I should say good morning with text message. It means we are good to go. If I won't pay, I should type morning. But it is good if I pay because my records can't grant me the visa. My spouse was livid! He said I should cut off the lawyer as soon as he was done with me. And I did that exactly. He was friendly for few days after he left but when he realised that I'm not responding, he stayed on his lane. He's scared of the embassy definitely. They must know.

Finally, the torturous journey of getting a German National Visa for about 2 years ends today!

When the journey seems longer than usual it is not always an indication that you have a problem.

Let me give you a highlight of my journey on this family reunion visa process.

I applied for a family reunion visa on the 28th July, 2020.

Received a mail for interview on the 8th July, 2021.

Had my interview on the 5th of August, 2021.

Lawyer called on the 4th September, 2021.

Lawyer visited on the 9th September, 2021. The lawyer tried to manipulate me to pay him 200k as bribe but my spouse called his bluff because I have complete documents. No issues.

We waited for the foreign office to contact my spouse but they didn't. So, we chose to contact them. He wrote them a mail on the 2nd of November, 2021 informing them of our application.

They responded on the 4th of November, 2021 and requested him to submit some documents.

He submitted these documents on the 12th of November, 2021.

Since then, we waited and waited and waited!

After the endless wait we started calling them at the foreign office and sending mails. No response to mails and no picking of calls.

Around January, 2022 they started picking calls. They informed us that the woman in charge of our file was sick and she just resumed. So we should expect a response in two weeks.

After 3 weeks, we called again and we learnt that the woman's health had gone very bad and she had gone off work. And our file would be given to someone else to handle.

We waited and called again. No definite answer. We are working on it nooni!

Then, 1st of March, 2022 the foreign office sent my spouse a mail. They apologised profusely for delaying our application because of shortage of staff and covid.
They informed us that the positive response had been sent to the embassy in Nigeria and we should contact them henceforth.

We called the Nigerian embassy again and they told us to send a mail and attach the response we got from Germany to it. This was done on 10th of March, 2022.

On the 15th March, 2022. Approval Mail sent to me.

Dropped documents in person at the consulate on the 16th of March, 2022.

Documents received back today, 31st March, 2022 with my Visa stamped on my passport. Dem grant their mama 6 months!

Note: My A1 expired on the 24th of January, 2022. I prayed they shouldn't request another one and it was answered.

Your courier envelope should still be valid. It is just two weeks old. I'm in the same situation as you though just that my own courier envelope is 7 months plus old. And I still got the assurance of the embassy that it would be delivered.

Meanwhile, how many days interval were you requested to put between your submission date and your date of travel?

I was just contacted by the embassy to provide my travel insurance certificate and intended travel date.
I was also asked to submit a prepaid courier envelope which I already did during my visa appointment 2 weeks ago. Do I still need to submit another courier envelope?

You are nearer to getting the visa. Just be calm. It could be frustrating but it will pay off at the end.

There is no such thing as approval mail on the as the heading.

The heading would be your surname and a reference number generated by them.

In your above mentioned visa matter you are requested to bring your passport, insurance, courier envelope and travel dates. Meanwhile, they didn't request for insurance from me but I put it.

Your travel dates should not be earlier than 7, 10 or 14 days as your case may be.

However, your case may be different. They may require another interview or need her presence. She should do as she is told.

Pls, ppl who have been contacted by the embassy lately for visa approval, did your email have an ‚Approval Mail‘ (AM mail) as the heading or embassy just asked you to come with your passport? And no travel insurance was also requested.

Again, was anyone asked to come at a given date or visa will be denied.

My wife got such manner of email today and it’s confusing what that means.

Just an email requesting her to come on a particular day and time.

If they said submit another envelope, it would have been best to just submit another envelope or call the embassy and tell them you submitted one before.

Call the embassy or email them. They will clarify if they need another one.

I have a situation at hand please. My interview was August, 2021. I submitted a DHL envelope with my documents same August.

Last week, I was asked to submit my passport and courier envelope. I only submitted my passport and insurance. I didn't submit another envelope because I had submitted one before. I can't track my envelope.

Please help me answer this question o. I'm so worried.

I called the DHL to help me but they said the envelope is obsolete and that I cannot use it again.

Your hubby should send a mail to the foreign office in his city. They will tell him what to bring. Or he should walk in to their office if he can without appointment. Don't wait for anyone at all. They will call him at their convenience which can be in few months!

To answer you, your spouse should just walk in or email the auslanderbehorde in his city.

Not everyone gets the verification completed mail. This does not mean they have not verified your identity.

As for your spouse, tell him to contact the migration office in his state. They will tell him the documents to bring.

You need to be very patient. The family reunion process takes a lot of time. For silly reasons too that is no fault of yours! Don't be too attached to it. It can lead you to depression. I almost entered one.

In our case it took 3 weeks. I would suggest you write the embassy and keep writing them. Your spouse in Germany should also call their German line, calling the English line is useless in my opinion. I wish you all the best.

German passport/Visa Approval Update!!

Applied for family reunion visa 2nd Dec 2019.
Appointment mail 21st Dec 2020
Appointment with my 1st son 14th Jan 2021.
March 24th 2021 email came from them saying I should submit a Signed and completely filled out questionnaire for the document verification. (Reasons d submitted once was not properly filled and I forgot 2 sign) I submitted it and aft dat i started waiting for lawyer 2 call, it never happened. I got tired of waiting so on d 9th of June 2021 I hunt for my lawyer myself and i found him d nxt day, I called him and we fixed a date, he showed up 14th of June.
21st of June 2021 my spouse was contacted and asked to submit some documents.
Aug 11th 2021 verification mail drop and I was also asked 2 submit A1, all dis while i was thinking cuz my spouse is a German i will have examption from d A1, by dis time i was heavily pregnant so I can't even go to Lagos for d exam. My spouse called Ausländerbehörde and talk and talk, finally they asked him to appeal, which we did with supporting documents, I wrote A1 Nov 2019 i got 52points then I came bk 2 my base started another language school finished from there wrote d school exam and scored 62, we submitted d two results and my registration form.
I was praying and trusting God for d wave and booom they waved it. Ausländerbehörde informed my spouse on the 23rd of Aug 2021 dat it has bin waved and our visa has bin approved.
Me, i immediately sent our passport & 3 months traveling insurance 2 d consulate without dem asking, they collected it and kept it for me, LoL.
28th August 2021 I put to bed all my fear of starting a new process for my new child.
I never knew God will break protocol for me.
29th Aug i informed them that I just put 2 bed.
31st Aug they asked me to submit a readable scan copy of my son's birth certificate.
10th Sep i got another mail asking me to submit d original certificate I did, then we started feeling that, they might invite us to Lagos for d new baby's interview so my spouse quickly sent them a long email stating dat I can't travel 2 Lagos.
7th Oct 2021 I got an email saying they have applied for German passport for my kids in German Embassy Abuja. (Best news!!! no lawyer came 4 my new baby and no additional verification fee was asked)
I wrote Abuja they replied immediately and requested that my spouse go to Jugendamt or standarmt for acknowledgement of paternity for our 1st child (reason for this was bcuz I had my first son in May and our court marriage was in July) .So he went to standesamt in Germany and did it, they sent it out 13th Oct 2021 through Deutsche post and it got to our own Nipost, till today Nipost has nt delivered it 2 d embassy. my spouse got tired, went back to standesamt 1st Dec 2021 got another copy and paid for DHL .
6th Dec 2021 Embassy got it and wrote me that same day to send my passport and marriage certificate via email.
7th Dec 2021 I got an email stating things I need 2 bring and fees to pay for the German passport and as soon as I get everything ready I shd send them an email so an appointment can be fix.
That same day I told dem I was ready immediately an appointment was fix for 13th Dec 2021.
13.12.21 I notarize my declaration of consent at the Embassy & also submitted my children's passport application,
I applied for children's passport (Kinderreisepass) cuz it's Faster and they are below 13. It will be issued within 5 days.
I told Abuja ppl to plz inform Lagos, I also wrote them an email myself.
17th Dec 2021 I pick my children's German passport at the Abuja Embassy and I was told that my visa officer in Lagos went on leave Choi all my plans of dirty December in Deutschland crumbled. Lol
I started calling and sending German consulate mail everyday same story Madam b patient we are at the final Stage
31st January 2022 I received an email saying they are currently waiting for final response from foreign office in Germany, I was shock cuz that was done in August 2021. So my spouse called Ausländerbehörde and asked why, he was told dat it's over 5 months they work on my visa and it's a long time, so they want to know if he still has his work and if he can take care of us financially so he was asked to submit his 3 months pay slip which he did that same day.
28th February 2022 I got Approval mail
7th March I got my visa and documents back.
Arrived Germany 10th March 2022.
This whole process took 2 years, 3 months & 5 days.
God is Indeed too Faithful to Fail !!!

Yes. Verification completed completed since September last year. The lawyer told me. They also told me at the embassy that they were okay with my docs and waiting for ausländer to send in approval. And he has been contacted for over 4 months.

Cases are different. No two cases are the same. If your spouse has been contacted and your verification has been done, normally, the response from embassy should not take time. But my spouse has been contacted for more than 3 months and I am yet to get a response. Yet, I have seen people whose spouses were contacted in February and they have gotten visa already.

If they aren't answering the Emails. Your spouse could resort to sending them letters.
Letters are more likely to be replied than Emails.

This whole reunion journey as someone rightly said requires alot of Patience and prayers. Nonetheless the spouse in Germany can keep bombarding them with letters.

He has written lots of emails too o. The o my one they replied was the first one he wrote them and they told him to send some documents. Since then, they just went quiet. No reply to mails or calls. I'm just tired.

He has been calling forever! The people directly in charge choose not to pick his calls. He went to their office in person, they didn't allow him enter. They said he had no appointment. I don't know what we should do again

Their foregin offices cn delay u especially if u hv issues ,so in all u hv to EXERCISE ALOT OF PATIENCE , borrow patience If u dnt hv . Tnkz
