Please, of what use is a PhD holder whose decisions are comparable to that of a stack illiterate? I would rather vote for a smart O level holder than this same Phd holder who knows nothing about leadership.
In fact democracy sucks!
Vote of a fool=Vote of an intellectual
If not for this, we wouldn't be debating who to vote for.

lol, those China guys are Super-smart,
Those Chinese are Ubitiquous in these Ivy league schools.
However, this is not to to say Nigerians are not in these schools. Truthfully, these guys must have had stellar grades, prefect GRE scores and jaw-opening SoP.

Boss, Which program are you into?
It ain't about GRE grade alone tho. They look beyond that.I know guys with scary GRE scores that were rejected even in not so well ranked school. Its more of your academic profile, extra curricular stuffs, and some other experiences u have had.And most importantly, you have to be creative. Anyway, these are just my opinions based on my experience.

I am in for an Msc in Power and Energy Systems in University of Calgary in Canada.

OP, its very nice that you are very ambitious. However, one has to be realistic. I have also always had big dream like you, even till today, my dream is to study at Stanford University. I graduated with a very good grade in one of Nigeria's best universities, yet I got rejected by a number of not so highly ranked school. Fortunately, I got admitted with funding into another well ranked school in North America but not as highly ranked as my dream school.
I have a friend in MIT, and I know a person in Stanford, both Nigerians. I am saying this to tell you that its not impossible. Electrical Engineering is extremely competitive to enter for in any university, not to talk of ivy league schools.

Our education system is so poor, they don't believe in our system. The curriculum is outdated in most cases. So the reputation is bad compared to bad guys coming from India, China, etc
In my own opinion, try to finish your undergraduate program with an excellent grade, with very good research experience. Then you may apply for Msc in your dream school. But usually, it is better to first attend a medium ranked school so it can be a good stepping stone for you if you can finally achieve your dream by heading for PhD in that your dream school.
Good luck

Go and see the arrival arena/terminal at the airport people are rushing down in millions to be partaker of the nations goodies and national cake. See our roads very smooth, most especially the roads in the east . See our security , u can move to anywhere anytime of the day without fear. Nite culture is now back to our country .unemployment is a thing of the past , we are thinking of how to start giving visa to Ghanaians and other African countries to come help us with our dirty and menial jobs in our factories. Water is everywhere , we are even missing pure water and bottle water . See how corruption has gone away in virtually in all sectors, see the faces of corrupt leaders in prison. Gone are the days we import our own exported crude oil. In fact ,u can see how much we get a liter compare to four years ago . This man has done magic , he must be from another planet . Dude,
Read my statement again and u would see that I never generalized.U even misconstrued a statement u quoted may be due to eagerness to dispute what I said. I categorically said that I don't know of any...the English is very simple.

Delotion: Hallo everyone, I would like to know how people here that went through the submission of Profs and lecturers email for d academic references section of most Canadian Universities Online application System, as preferences was given to Institutional/organisational email addresses other than ordinary email and if there are alternatives means of going about this. This has been baffling me as most Profs in my former department are sadist and megalomaniac. Responses are welcome and God bless.
All Canadian institutions I know of don't accept private email addresses such as yahoo, gmail and the likes. You have no choice than to contact those 'sadist'. However, you can make life easy for yourself by approaching nice ones among them. I noticed that the Prof's recommendation are usually tough to get except if he knows you well enough or he has a template for all student in which he only edit the name. Most times I use 'Mr' and Prof or 'Mr' and Dr. It has worked well for me because the 'Mr' won't make life difficult for you and I have never read in any admission requirement of any school stating that your recommendation must be from a Prof of Dr. But no doubt, using two Profs would make ur application seem strong, but I can assure you that it doesn't guarantee you admission.
N.B: I am talking from experience, gotten admission from an ivy league school before with recommendations from a 'Mr' and a Prof.No scholarship tho

Jijola: @ Codebreaker, the SOA is okay as supplementary funding. Make sure ur parents or whoever states that the fund is just supplementary in his letter.Other land and financial documents of ur parents can be added also as supplementary if they have. It never kills to 'over-convince'.
Was nice meeting you yesterday. Nairaland gat very good badt guy.All d best man
