jason123: I am happy you bought that up. Now, we all know a state is an imaginary geographic boundary. The Ijaws in the West will prefer to stay West or form an only Ijaw country than join the "East". Where do you expect someone like the SR owner ( a man from Apoi-Ijaw, Ondo state) to go. Ask him and i'm sure you know the answer he will give. What about Ajegunle and her populace that have mixed up with the local population of Yorubas How will Ijaws claim a land in Edo state or Ogun state without a full blown war?? I am sure they are wiser than that.
Aniomas can go with the East of they want but I have a feeling they will prefer to have SN than going with the East because of the benefits they have in Delta state. Likewise me, I will prefer SN than all other options. the aniomas in delta and edo state have been demanding for an anioma state that will be part of the SE that's the 6th south east state rather than creating another state in the south east . you talk about the ijaws in edo ,delta and ondo as if you also don't have them in rivers, bayelsa and akwa ibom if they go with east their land is still their land wherever it is. what benefit are the aniomas getting from delta if not ethnocentrism to the point you now have 3 capital cities in delta just because FG choose asaba an igbo town as the capital of delta. |

jason123: Ezeuche, I am done telling you the samething over and over again. Most (including me) will prefer Southern Nigeria incase of a split. BUT, if SN is to further split, I can assure you that Edo and Delta will either stay with the SS, form Bendel if possible or join the West not East, that I CAN ASSURE YOU. Even PhysicsMHD has said this before. Look, I am not deceiving you. That is the truth. Even an Edo guy (henoric01) has said the samething.
Before we digress, I was only saying the Bendel state (Edo and delta) should not be annexed by propagandist to the "Lower delta". I will not stand for that. Thank you. if the south splits ,ijaws, anioma part of delta and anioma part of edo will go east while the rest will go west. |

Igwe-1: SGF-Pius Ayim Petroleum-Diezani Alison-Madueke Health-Onyebuchi Chukwu Labor-Emeka Wogu Power-Barth Nnaji Deputy Senate-Ekweremadu Deputy House Ihedioha SSS-odechukwu Army-Ihejirika Maybe Financial-Okonjo Iweala , and many more to come since the administration is still appointing
These positions are the back bone of a Nation like Nigeria. I must commend GJ for being wise and putting the right people at the right time in charge of these key positions. The days of naive Aboki is over, aboki man still controls the house. i hope barth nnaji performs, this maybe his last chance to redeem his name. as for ihejirika , what the military need is discipline and respect for human life. |

aba and onitsha are already world class cities, they just need to be cleaned up for their value to show any other development that is not about cleaning up those cities is just a waste of time and will never be appreciated. |

KnowAll: The Anioma or Ikwerre man would most likely speak in English or better still pigeon English to a stranger or unassuming august visitor than our friends from the East Central areas, who many a times think everyone understands their language. Salient differences like this in the act of social cohesion and accommodation of others are the attributes these two Igbo sub groups has which the East Centran Igbo lacks. where are you from olodo, we know the people that speak their language even when strangers are around them unlike the igbos that are complaining their children cant even speak igbo. infact peter obi had to enforce teaching of igbo language in primary schools. when people like you make stupid comments i feel like beating u up over the internet. |

ezeagu: A lot of the 'land' under Port Harcourt is mangrove.
This stuff:
https://www.climateshifts.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/mangrove0459sm.jpg
Which is (one of the reasons) why Port Harcourt was built so far in-land. yeah Nigerian map makes it look like theres land after portharcourt but its all just lakes, mangroove and swamps that lead to the ocean. ikwerres where never landlocked that's why amaechi is clearing illegal settlements in those areas. |

people always claim that ikwerre man or rivers man will fight you if you call him an igbo man yet their traditional rulers are celebrating ada ndigbo in rivers state ,infact i think they came up with the trend, i always tell people not to take anything they read on nairaland seriously cause the situation is different in real life. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-325765.0.htmlthe link again for those that have not seen the celebration. |

EzeUche: Let me tell you all the truth of the matter. The Ikwerre would be simply another insignificant Igbo clan to the majority if not for one major reason. They and some other groups are blocking Igbo access to the sea. It is not about oil. It have never been about oil, because the Igbo hinterland has plenty of oil from Anambra to Abia.
Access to the sea is not negotiable.
you always had access to the sea dont let that nigerian map fool you, the niger delta is more water than land. |
Politics › Re: River State Should Be Part Of The South East since Igbo have 6 governors by bashr4: 2:40pm On Jul 01, 2011 |
EzeUche: The Ikwerre have no say in the matter. This confused bunch are an Igbo speaking people and if it was not for oil, they would still be considered Igbo. This is for their own good.
If you have Igbo names, your culture is Igbo and you speak our language, then what does that make you? An Igbo. . .
I could understand if they were a distinct group like the Ibibio who have a separate language, naming and culture from the Igbo, but these Ikwerre are IGBO! ezeuche majority of them are not denying that its just a few that have time on the internet that are creating this mischief, as for the denial after the war we cannot be quick to judge them on that , only God knows what the wicked military would have done to them and their land if they had agreed they where igbo , maybe it would have been given to the ijaws to make sure no igboid group can lay claim to rivers state. even the united nations after the war stated the same thing that the ikwerres claimed they are not igbo in other to survive the aftermath of the war. |

portharcourt itself as the capital of rivers consisted of diobu, Oroworukwo, Mkpogua and Rumuomasi(igbo) and okirika (ijaw)
but today just like lagos it has expanded to 8 local government areas
Port-HarcourtLGA, Obio/Akpor LGA, Ikwerre LGA, ObigboLGA, -------IGBO Ogu/Bolo LGA, okirika LGA------IJAW Tai and Eleme LGA. -----------OGONI |

Abagworo: I wonder why you all are busy giving us inaccurate information about Rivers State. You guys should just stop it!
Let Rivers people determine their fate.Igbos and Ijaws should let them be. no we cant let them be cause tomorrow when something terrible happens and the person bears an igbo or ijaw name ,nobody will ask them whether they are from rivers or other igbo or ijaw states, the whole igbo or ijaw nation will be blamed for it. we cannot keep letting them be ,its just plain stupid for every local govt in rivers to claim a different ethnic group. At least let people know exactly who they are. |

ow11: Ogu/Bolo LGA is occupied by Okrika (Ijaw) people, PH LGA (with Abuloma axis area) is also occupied by Okrika (Ijaw) people, Ahoada West is occupied by Engenni and Abua/Odual have a lot in common with Ogbia LGA in BY state yeah thanks for the correction , some local governments are not 100percent igbo or ijaw but mixed , i just wanted to correct that naija delta boy and his ignorant statement of putting the igbos where they belong. |
