To be honest. . I just clearly see that height or stature does not deter greatness.

As small as Alex Oti is, yet he was Diamond Bank MD, now governor. . Same as Oshiomole.

Respect to the honourable man.

What is happening in Iran only 2 missiles were shot today at Israel and they were intercepted unlike 2 days ago when it was every 20minutes .abi America and Israel don destroy all their lunchers..cuz without lauchers those missiles are useless..or missiles don dey depleted cuz quarter and Kuwait don help Israel intercept almost all of them
Yes, their launching pads have been seriously damaged by he Israeli jets.
Foreign AffairsRe: Israel Hacked Tehran’s Traffic Cameras To Spy On Khamenei by Basicend:
Israel nuetrilized Iranian tracking and laser detection systems firstly before flying in exactly 200 war jets into Iran's airspace for several hours and blew up only strategic points on the first day.

Just like the last war between them, Israel is basically aiming to:

1. Take out the numbers of Iranian leadership in-charge of missile or drone / pill-ups and nuclear warhead advancement.

2. Destroy their ICBM and nuclear weapon programme and project sites.

3. Change the country's leadership with someone that possess a different ideology from Islamic extremism.

They will continue to prevent civilian casualties as much as possible.
Foreign AffairsRe: Trump Warns Iran: The ‘Big One’ Is Coming by Basicend:
USA and Israel cannot attack or bomb Iran indiscriminately the way Iran is doing everywhere.

Trump claims he is fighting for the people of Iran, and that puts him in a corner such as to only snipe and destroy the weapon facilities and key installations within Iran.

Ground troops is not an option at all for now due to many reasons.

They have to paralyse their laser defense systems completely and destroy their missile/drone launching pads/ stock before physical penetration at all.

It's going to be a very complex high-tech war. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Firing rockets and missiles indiscriminately shows desperation on the part of the Iranian regime.
It is the death spasms and kicks of a dying horse.

It is only a matter of days before they capitulate.
Truth.

It shows lack of tact.

If Israel or the United States were bombing Iran indiscriminately, by now, the entire Iran would have been destroyed beyond recognition.

Foreign AffairsRe: More Explosions Heard In Dubai, Doha And Manama by Basicend:
US is attacking you, but in return you are busy attacking neibouring countries and empty American facilities.

Iran does not have 1 single missile that can reach the United States. Yet, they kept threatening the US.

They shot 300 missiles into Israel at the weekend, only about 30 was able to enter northern Israel with only 1 reported fatal casualty. No specific strategy, just sporadic shots.

Israel nutrilized Iranian detection radars and flew 200 fighter jets over Iran for several hours, yet no single jet was shot down or lost. Thereby killing their leaders in a precision strikes.

Just like Venezuella, those Chinese Temu detection radars are helpless again.

US / West via ASML / Intel / Nvadia has been preventing imports and access of the most advanced AI silicon chips to China. That's why most Chinese AI detectors will always be 3 or 4 generations behind the latest version.

Foreign AffairsRe: Iranians Celebrate The Death Of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by Basicend:
The Iranian regime has stock-pilled above 2,000 balistic missiles and numerous drones just aimed at gaining regional territorial dominance and destroying the Israel nation.

It's an evil regime and must be removed.

A nuclear powered Iran is a danger to the world, and anyone that does not bow to dictates of Sharia.

The choice of a religion should be by conviction and not violence or force.

Allowing Iran to produce a nuclear warhead is equal to giving advanced chemical weapons under the control of Islamic bandits / Boko Haram / ISWAP etc in Nigeria.

They empower and fund Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, and the rest in the region.

I support the complete removal of him and his regime.
Foreign AffairsRe: Trump & Netanyahu Shown A Picture Of Ayatollah Khamenei's Dead Body by Basicend:
For Iranian leaders to be threatening the USA is absolute madness.

US and Israel still control core global tracking infastructure and weaponry. They (Iran) are like ants to US.

They need to study how president Tinubu avoided issues with Trump. It's called wisdom. Becoz Trump has just few years left on his tenure.

Just play the game alongside with him and everyone will smile.

A similar scenereo is Zalenski thinking he can challenge Putin even with NATO. . He just destroyed his country for nothing.
Foreign AffairsRe: ‘no Ship Allowed’: Iran Blocks Strait Of Hormuz by Basicend:
wellmax:
Here’s what it really means in practical terms.

1) Oil prices would likely jump very fast
About 20% of the world’s oil supply moves through that strait. When shipments stop or slow, markets panic because supply suddenly looks smaller.
Analysts have warned prices could surge well above $100 per barrel, possibly much higher if the disruption lasts.
What that means for people:
Petrol and diesel prices rise.
Air travel and shipping become more expensive.
Many goods cost more because transport costs increase.

2) Global inflation would rise
Energy is tied to almost everything in the economy. When oil and gas spike:
Food prices rise (transport + farming costs).
Manufacturing costs increase.
Electricity and heating bills climb.
Economists say disruption there would fuel inflation and strain supply chains worldwide.

3) Countries that depend on Middle East energy get hit hardest
Asia and parts of Europe rely heavily on oil and gas passing through that route. China, Japan, India, and many EU countries could see:
Higher import bills
Slower economic growth
Potential shortages if the blockade lasts.
Natural gas is also at risk because large volumes of LNG from Qatar pass through the same waterway.

4) Financial markets could become very volatile
When something like this happens:
Stock markets often drop at first.
Energy companies may rise because oil prices surge.
Investors move money into “safe” assets like gold or government bonds.
If the closure lasts weeks or months, economists warn it could slow global growth or even push some economies toward recession.

5) It could escalate into a larger conflict
A full blockade is also a military and geopolitical issue. Major powers depend on that shipping lane, so pressure or military action to reopen it would be likely.
1. Once the Iranian regime is changed or altered, order will restored to the passage. That is inneviatable and will happen very soon.

2. Nigeria should be okay. Our crude can be shipped to Dangote refinery and recycled to the Nigerian domestic market. It's just our exporting scale that could be hit.

3. Iran just want to flex a muscle as expected and predicted. They can only hit empty American bases in the middle east and Israel. US bombardment will come in layers in next few days. It will just too much for Iran. That's the truth.

PoliticsRe: Central Bank Stopped Naira From Appreciating To ₦1000/$ – Shetttima by Basicend:
DeLaRue:
It makes perfect sense.

A naira that rises too fast can be as damaging to the economy as one that falls too fast.

The secret to sustainable economic growth is stability. A slow but steady naira recovery is better.

If naira hits 1000 to a dollar too fast, Nigerian consumers will benefit hugely, but the biggest long term beneficiary will be China, as Nigerians will go back to importing everything under the sun from China. This will destroy our own manufacturing companies, and there will be tremendous job loses. Once cheap Chinese imports destroy our manufacturers, then we will effectively become an economic colony of China.

Remember too that if the naira rises too sharply, the record levels of non-oil exports we have had in the past 2 years will disappear as our produce becomes more expensive for foreign buyers. A strong naira makes our non-oil exports expensive for foreign buyers. They will look elsewhere to buy.

Economics is not a one way thing. For every positive, there are often potential negatives. It is the job of the CBN to manage conflicting possibilities.

I suspect the CBN will probably prefer naira to steadily rise to say around N1250 by end of 2026, N1100 by end of 2027, and N1000 by end of 2028. Steady as you go.

But the CBN will be under tremendous political pressure from APC leaders to allow naira to gain fast later this year so APC can go into 2027 elections saying 'We told you so...Mr Tinubu is an economic genius. Vote for him to perform more magic'. smiley

It is what politicians all over the world do. Mr Trump has been trying to sack the American Central bank Governor for several months now because the Governor refused to cut interest rate as fast as Mr Trump wants.
I have said this before on this platform.

Apart from perhaps the huge survival error that Tinubu made by floating the naira during his office assumption speech, his economic team anchored by Cardoso and Tunde Edun has been very impressive and hightly commendable.

As earlier mentioned, I still believe that only OBJ has assembled perhaps a better team of technocrats with significant and quality achievements in their given portfolios.

Tinubu brought highly impressive stability to the economy that Buhari brutalized in terms of fuel pricing and FX rate.

However, the hyper-inflation that Tinubu initially created will take years even beyond his second term in office to reverse.
The house rents that have increased, cost of (living) goods and services in the system are not adjusting to the recent reduced price of FX and oil. Hence, the people are still not really feeling the effect.

With the recent developments, shouldn't Mexico and Nigeria be on the list? undecided
Yeah. Truly there is no way Nigeria shouldnt be on the list.

Currently, more than 90% of Nigerians are scared to travel by roads due to frequent kidnappers / bandits or highway rubbers.

Also, majority can't visit or dwell in rural areas anymore due to killings. Nigeria is a serious case.

The demons in Mexico are just coming out, they not are really ripe yet.
PoliticsRe: Assassination Attempt On Peter Obi Was By Govt, Their Agents – Kenneth Okonkwo by Basicend:
Why should APC or any opposing political party try to assassinate Obi?

Obi is currently not a threat to Tinubu in the 2027 election. Tinubu is a very smart, desperate and strong politician, and since the key of the nation's treasury is under his control, NO man will be able to overthrow him apart from God himself.

Perhaps Obi may be able to challenge and win the election after 2027.

Edo is synonymous with gun attacks. The attack could be orchestrated within the ADC.

Dpharisee:
Trump should stop making noise, if he wants to fight Iran let him go ahead, we are tired of the propaganda, he's afraid to strike because Iran has capacity to retaliate
The only thing that made Trump to caution is the potential striking of all American bases in the middle east.

That is the major threat Iran can pose to the US. And America is examining the cost implication of it.

They (Iran) don't have Nuk warhead. All their intercontinental balistic missiles that they usually rely on will be pulled down easily due to target range factor.

Once America finalize it plans, it could honestly level strategic places as required within Iran in 3 days and there will be silence everywhere in Iran.

Well, I agree with you. Yes, USA is better overall IMO obviously.

However, in this context, even Exxon, Chevron, Shell etc give financial inducements to the mafia guys / militia in the Niger delta for the protection of their staff and facilities.

It's a norm when you invest in a foreign land, especially places with high level gangsters or terrortists.

Final truth is that both nations are persuing their interest of dominance and exploitation differently.

Jughead29:
But truth be told, what are the Chinese doing in Nigeria especially mining sites?

Despite the insecurity in those areas, they'll never be attacked.... Make it make sense
The intent of the Chinese firms giving funds to the fulanis is for the protection of their staff and business facilities.

Cheveron / Exxon / Shell does similar thing in the Niger delta. Every business in a foreign land must often pay due homage (forceful pizzo-money).

Yes, it indirectly strengthened the financial power of the terrorist, but that was not their initial aim.

Do you think if America successfully get the Nigerian govt to chase out China, America will not bounce on those vacant lithium, rare-earth or solid mineral sites?
PoliticsRe: USA Proposes A Bill To Target Illegal Chinese Mining In Nigeria by Basicend:
HacheNoire:
We need to get something straight.

The United States in North America, is proposing a bill to target Chinese mining in Nigeria, Africa.

Someone should please make it make sense. This is a combo of imperialism and colonialism.

Meaning of our economy decides to shift from the USD to booster our trade, we will be annihilated.

Slavery never stopped, the dynamics was what changed.

I think the Nigerian government need to deliberate if it’s still worth it to celebrate Independence Day.
It is just a proposed bill which is subject to further consideration by our legislature.

India, Brazil, Nigeria are seen by global powers as emerging powers of the next decade due to their abundant mineral / human capacity.

America is trying to sustain her hegemony in Africa. And if that will happen, China's grip on the continent must be undermined.

It's a a geo-political chess game.

That is why USA have been trying to carefully negotiate terms on issues with the Nigerian govt instead of force.

Trump has realized that calling Africa shithole was an error. America must strive to sustain it's control of all regions.

Any global power that must control Africa, must find a way to control Nigeria.

If you think Americans are terrible wait until you know more about the Russians and the Chinese.

Americans are the far manageable demons compared to the Chinese and the Russians.
I honestly agree with you. Americans are generally fair minded people relatively.

But rising cost of goods globally which is quite a resultant effect of excessive dollar printing and other variables have put many countries on the edge of survival.
Reason why most countries even within the G7 are looking up to China for transactions now is because of survival and costs.

Trump wants to continue putting the American bills on the entire world, but the yoke of it is getting too heavy on most countries.
PoliticsRe: US Bill On Nigeria Claims Chinese Illegal Miners Pay Fulani Militias For... by Basicend:
Even though I agree that the Chinese might be culprit to this thing.

However, the core aim of Trump's foreign policies are geared towards curbing China's global influence and rising dominance.

So, Nigeria needs to carefully address the situation.

China's emergence gave the world (esp third world countries like Nigeria) access to many techs and products at an affordable rate. Even thou China has her hidden corrupt issues.

Most countries will not be able to afford anything if global manufacturing is returned to the US. And it's not something that is feasible or that can be achieved quickly. Imagine the cost of an ordinary WAHL clipper made in USA at N85,000. That is more than monthly salary of some Lagosians.

I would guess that not more than 30 % of Nigerians in the UK make up to £50,000 per year.

The man's suggestion that most Nigerians in the UK don't make up to £200,000 is off the mark.

I don't think up to 2% of Nigerians in the UK make up to that amount. Even amongst the native population, very very few make £200,000 annually.

Na so UK easy?
Hmm, if they earn £50,000 per annum, if average house rent in the UK falls within £1,200 to £1,500 per month, excluding other essential bills and taxes. .

Is there really any much difference between the hard life or suffering in Nigeria and that which is presented to them over there in the UK?

Asides food security which is obviously better over there.
