Greenland is already an allie, they already allow US military bases there. An agreement for mineral extraction rights can also be made, it's already part of NATO, neither China nor Russia will dare to take them.
Unless through diplomacy and trade agreements, if that were to happen then that's a massive skill issue on the part of the USA.

But Trump being unpredictable and insistence on Greenland joining the USA is the problem. I will not put it past him to attempt to invade, and it's concerning you may see nothing wrong with that.
