I have always had serious reservations about electronic voting and counting. What's this nonsense about voter tallies being shuffled around in thumb drives.
The Optical Scanner reads a ballot and assigns a vote to the candidate. Code can be configured to count say 1 million votes correctly then after that start switching every third vote to a desired candidate. No one ever sees that proprietary code,it's a company secret. The code can be configured any way to make it look convincing.

Hand counting is the way.Everyone accredited sits on a table to count less than 1000 votes per precinct. A ballot is picked ,read out loud ,shown round the table and placed on its respective stack. At the end bank clerks quickly count all the ballots. Observers will have made their own tally ballot by ballot so they ideally all agree. Results can be out within hours.

America system depends on trust. Transport milliona of ballots to a central county counting hall then run them in these machines whose source code is only known by the manufacturer.

After elections Dominion can delete all the logs with an update or bug from fixes.
