Democrats are scared that Maduro will expose the role of Smartmatic and Dominion in 2020.
Similar to the wild baseless claims made against Trump by many of you here, this one is from me. Cuban president flew to Caracas in 2020 and watched live as the 2020 election was stolen ,the machines flipping Trump votes to Biden . The Belgrade Dominion office which is their software development centre was remotely connected to these rigging machines.Kraken.

Senator Murphy “The invasion of Venezuela has nothing to do with American security. Venezuela is not a security threat to the U.S.. This is about making Trump’s oil industry and Wall Street friends rich. Trump’s foreign policy – the Middle East, Russia, Venezuela – is fundamentally corrupt.”

Dana Bash of CNN made a huge blunder when questioning Senator Murphy. She reminded him of an op-ed he had written in 2019
Dana Bash:
In 2019, you wrote an op-ed, and you called for Maduro to be gone. You said:

“Let’s get one thing straight: there should no longer be any debate about Maduro’s lack of democratic legitimacy. The Trump administration is right to put restoring Venezuelan democracy at the center of our approach to this crisis. A return to a stable democracy is in the interest of the Venezuelan people, the United States, and the hemisphere.”

She appears to have forgotten that CNN is a propaganda network so Murphy explained

Chris Murphy:
Well, the rest of that article was a criticism of President Trump’s early moves to saber-rattle around regime change.

Sharap! The West have done infinitely more to underdevelop African industrialisation than any labeling you care mammary now.

You will wear garment for the British and Americans who come to establish upstream resource companies, take the resources outside of country and return low-quality refined products to unsuspecting Nigerians.

BP, Mobil, Chevron all have capacity to build Oil refineries inside of Nigeria for eons but it's never been western policy to contribute towards industrial development in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. They instead prefer to refine oil in the West, and return high sulphur rate PMS at premium prices. Thank God for Dangote.

It's the same with Swizz and Belgian companies that impoverish Cocao farmers, without creating any plans inside of Africa.

But you have a problem with the Chinese who actually build infrastructure in Africa. Go and burn down the entire Blue Line in Lagos.
If you think Chinese are developing Africa to transfer technology,I have a bridge to sell you
China is hungry for raw material's,They enrolled countries in their BRI to develop infrastructure through which raw material's end up in China.
They loan money then have their company build it .They also bring in their own workers to do the important stuff
Some countries have failed to repay the loans in time. Sri Lanka lost it's main port, Tajikistan ceeded 1000 sq km of land , China took 90% control of Laos grid.
Nations need to be careful with these developments.
These projects that China are building are to improve access to it's raw materials. Roads, railways ,ports, airports etc.
Tanzania was to get a port but on condition no other port along it's coast would be developed. This Tanzania port would be linked via a new railway to DRC where Chinese companies are mining large scale. Massive project
Zambia was at risk of losing its airport too.

Anyway I see China as a worse colonizer than the West. It's African leaders who sell out. It's African leaders to blame for underdevelopment largely not the west. They concieve grandiose projects and look for funding. The same playbook , but at least the Chinese don't give Africans money. They build, you pay later.
The west used to send money to Africa thinking they are trustworthy to spend the money honestly.

The west does try to improve governance in Africa unlike the Chinese.
As.regards BP , Chevron and refineries, the other day I mentioned that countries should nationalize oil them hire those hard nosed Western retired Oil execs with clear performance targets. A lot would jump into it.

What has been the success rate in terms of outcomes for regime changes facilitated by the US in the Americas and the carribean?

You are freaking so sure of the outcome for Venezuela. Thats your research work.

See below already happening.. from history what are the odds for Venezuela attaining eldorado in leadership and structure in the coming years?

And for your information you don't believe in one God (you believe in 3 Gods all summed up in one or abi One God divided into three persons grin grin).
Marco Rubio explains why Venezuela opposition may not have the capacity to take over right away.

Delcy Rodríguez and the core of the regime’s leadership are negotiating with the United States as we speak. This is not a sudden pivot. It is the result of a conclusion reached in Washington over months: the U.S. does not believe that María Corina Machado and the opposition have the operational capacity to seize power in Venezuela because they do not control, or meaningfully fracture, the military. If they did, power would have shifted immediately after the 2024 presidential election. It did not.

For a long period, U.S. officials, including Marco Rubio, were in constant communication with Machado and her team. They were asked repeatedly for proof of a concrete plan, not just to win power symbolically, but to retain it in practice: chain of command, military alignment, institutional control, day-after governance. The answers were consistently evasive, justified by security concerns, but never substantiated. At that point, from the U.S. government’s perspective, the opposition ceased to look like a viable transition mechanism and began to look like a political wager with no enforcement arm.

The plan now on the table is for Delcy Rodríguez to stabilize the country with U.S. backing and then call for general elections. This is not framed as an endorsement of the regime, but as a containment and transition strategy. Washington is explicit about one thing: this is not a partnership of equals. The United States is running the process, the lines are being managed through Rubio, and the leverage is entirely asymmetric. Delcy is the instrument, not the center of gravity.

U.S. officials also assess that Delcy’s harsh public rhetoric today was aimed inward, at the chavista base, not outward. That messaging is understood as domestic signaling. Nevertheless, as of now, negotiations with the United States are ongoing as we speak

Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela do not make America safer, stronger, or more affordable.

That Maduro is a brutal, illegitimate dictator does not change the fact that this action was both unlawful and unwise. We’ve seen this movie before. Wars for regime change or oil that are sold as strength but turn into chaos, and American families pay the price.

The American people do not want this, and they are tired of being lied to.

This is not about drugs or democracy. It is about oil and Donald Trump’s desire to play the regional strongman. If he cared about either, he wouldn’t pardon a convicted drug trafficker or sideline Venezuela’s legitimate opposition while pursuing deals with Maduro’s cronies.

The President is putting troops at risk, spending billions, destabilizing a region, and offering no legal authority, no exit plan, and no benefit at home.

America needs leadership whose priorities are lowering costs for working families, enforcing the rule of law, strengthening alliances, and — most importantly — putting the American people first.

Hypocrite.

This one explains better than me on why the takedown of Maduro had to be done.

Cynical Publius
@CynicalPublius
I have been monitoring the Venezuela issue all day long, and there are so many questions yet to be answered (thanks to great Pentagon OPSEC), but the strategic reason for bringing down Maduro has become abundantly clear.

While we ostensibly captured Maduro based on legitimate, outstanding US drug charges from 2020, the real reason for the military operations early this morning is that neutralizing Maduro's Venezuela had become a strategic imperative for the USA.

Under Maduro, Venezuela had become the Latin American crossroads for all of the USA's principal enemies. Maduro was nurturing relationships with Russia, Hezbollah and Iran. Worst of all, Venezuela was eagerly becoming a part of Red China's Belt & Road initiative.

As America's enemies were lining up Venezuela as their base of operations in the Western Hemisphere to cause mischief and destruction for the USA, Maduro was at the same time making Venezuela a crossroads, safe haven and enabler for all manner of narcoterrorist operations, ranging from Colombia's FARC to Mexico's Sinaloa cartel.

On top of all that, Venezuela had become a key player in the illegal alien invasion of the USA, shipping its very worst to the USA in a deliberate and comprehensive destabilizing operation that might have worked had Donald Trump not won in 2024.

Next in importance: oil. The global and regional ambitions of both China and Russia are in large part dependent on the politics of petroleum, and the USA just deprived both of the cudgel afforded by friendly Venezuelan oil. Trump opponents say "It's about oil" as if that was a bad thing. Yeah, it's about oil.

Finally, all of this was in keeping with the most essential and fundamental foreign policy mandate of the USA almost since the nation's inception: the Monroe Doctrine. Operations like what Maduro was running simply cannot be allowed in the Western Hemisphere. Trump was right for falling back on this most basic of doctrines that protects the USA's sovereignty.

So was Maduro seized because of some five year-old drug charges? Yes. Legally--yes. However, like so many strategic issues in the world today, an action needed to be backed by the fine points of law, and it was. But the reality is that the Maduro takedown was a Monroe Doctrine-driven necessity that has greatly enhanced the power and national security of the USA.

Congratulations, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth and the rest of the Trump national security team: you boldly took the steps necessary to defend the USA.

Well done.

Your opposition smells like sour grapes. The same people who rightly condemned Maduro's narco-terrorism charges now cry 'extradition is illegal' only because the U.S. might succeed where others failed."

You are the hypocrite. I live in Europe and Nigeria. In Africa, a lot of us have been able to spring up businesses, thanks to Chinese industrialisation of the battery market.

Many are thankful for being able to build houses due to the relative low cost of building accessories materials, thanks to the Chinese.

Thousands of businesses are being powered by tech, hardware, software, middleware, all made accessible due to Chinese commercialisation at low cost.

Look at the Lagos State project of Lighting-Up-Lagos Roads. Almost every single state road you see now is completely lit up by solar lights..... reducing pressure on the national grid, and improving safety of members of the public........all made possible by Cheap Chinese-dominated Solar and Lithium Battery technology.

Nigerians can boast of followers on social media, which is bringing in foreign capital...... why? Because the Chinese made mobile phones accessible to millions of Nigerians.

Heck the other day, I struck a mobile phone buy-now-pay-later deal for potentially 100 employees, which will power our business...... thanks to cheap Chinese-made mobile phones. A deal absolutely not possible if same phones were only made in Europe or the US.

I am able to use my influence and experience living in Europe to impact thousands of lives in Nigeria, through a bridge.....a Chinese bridge.

China controls more than 80% of the world's renewable energy supply chains. China by far dominates the world in robotic engineering, EV technology, 5G wireless communication technology, and in time, they will dominate the world's automobile industry.

Whilst Trump was intent on tariffs and banning China from accessing Chip technology, China dug in, and now China is on the verge on creating the world's first commercial EUV lithograph machine not built by ASML.

What was the US doing whilst China was laying down the ground work for this scale of dominance? .....deindustrialisation, capitalism and warning the whole world about Chinese dangerous socialists.

You decapitate Chinese influence by socialism. Government-led initiatives to industrialise across all sectors. The real reason the US is invading Venezuela goes back to a deal Henry Kissinger made with Saudi Arabia in 1974.

And I'm going to explain why this is actually about the SURVIVAL of the US dollar itself.

Not drugs. Not terrorism. Not "democracy."

This is about the petrodollar system that has kept America the dominant economic power for 50 years.

And Venezuela just threatened to end it.

Here's what really just happened:

Venezuela has 303 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.

The largest on Earth.

More than Saudi Arabia.

20% of the entire world's oil.

But here's the part that matters:

Venezuela was actively selling that oil in Chinese yuan. Not dollars.

In 2018, Venezuela announced it would "free itself from the dollar."

They started accepting yuan, euros, rubles, anything BUT dollars for oil.

They were petitioning to join BRICS.

They were building direct payment channels with China that bypass SWIFT entirely.

And they were sitting on enough oil to fund de-dollarization for decades.

Why does this matter?

Because the entire American financial system is built on one thing:

The petrodollar.

In 1974, Henry Kissinger made a deal with Saudi Arabia:

All oil sold globally must be priced in US dollars.

In exchange, America provides military protection.

This single agreement created artificial demand for dollars worldwide.

Every country on Earth needs dollars to buy oil.

This lets America print unlimited money while other countries work for it.

It funds the military. The welfare state. The deficit spending.

The petrodollar is more important to US hegemony than aircraft carriers.

And there's a pattern of what happens to leaders who challenge it:

2000: Saddam Hussein announces Iraq will sell oil in euros instead of dollars.

2003: Invaded. Regime change. Iraq's oil immediately switched back to dollars. Saddam lynched.

The WMDs were never found because they never existed.

2009: Gaddafi proposes a gold-backed African currency called the "gold dinar" for oil trade.

Hillary Clinton's own leaked emails confirm this was the PRIMARY reason for intervention.

Email quote: "This gold was intended to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar."

2011: NATO bombs Libya. Gaddafi sodomized and murdered. Libya now has open slave markets.

"We came, we saw, he died!" Clinton laughed on camera.

The gold dinar died with him.

And now Maduro.

With FIVE TIMES more oil than Saddam and Gaddafi combined.

Actively selling in yuan.

Building payment systems outside dollar control.

Petitioning to join BRICS.

Partnered with China, Russia, and Iran.

The three countries leading global de-dollarization.

This isn't coincidence.

Challenge the petrodollar. Get regime changed.

Every. Single. Time.

Stephen Miller (US homeland security advisor) literally said it out loud two weeks ago:

"American sweat, ingenuity and toil created the oil industry in Venezuela. Its tyrannical expropriation was the largest recorded theft of American wealth and property."

He's not hiding it.

They're claiming Venezuelan oil BELONGS to America because US companies developed it 100 years ago.

By this logic, every nationalized resource in history was "theft."

But here's the DEEPER problem:

The petrodollar is already dying.

Russia sells oil in rubles and yuan since Ukraine.

Saudi Arabia is openly discussing yuan settlements.

Iran has been trading in non-dollar currencies for years.

China built CIPS, their own alternative to SWIFT with 4,800 banks in 185 countries.

BRICS is actively building payment systems that bypass the dollar entirely.

The mBridge project lets central banks settle trades instantly in local currencies.

Venezuela joining BRICS with 303 billion barrels of oil would accelerate this exponentially.

That's what this invasion is really about.

Not stopping drugs. Venezuela accounts for less than 1% of US cocaine.

Not terrorism. There's zero evidence Maduro runs a "terror organization."

Not democracy. The US supports Saudi Arabia, which has zero elections.

This is about maintaining a 50-year-old agreement that lets America print money while the world works for it.

And the consequences are terrifying:

Russia, China, and Iran are already denouncing this as "armed aggression."

China is Venezuela's biggest oil customer. They're losing billions.

BRICS nations are watching a country get invaded for trading outside the dollar.

Every nation considering de-dollarization just got the message:

Challenge the dollar and we will bomb you.

But here's the problem...

That message might accelerate de-dollarization, not stop it.

Because now every country in the Global South knows what happens if you threaten dollar hegemony.

And they're realizing the only protection is to move FASTER.

The timing is insane too:

January 3rd, 2026. Venezuela invaded. Maduro captured.

January 3rd, 1990. Panama invaded. Noriega captured.

36 years apart. Almost to the day.

Same playbook. Same "drug trafficking" excuse.

Same real reason: control of strategic resources and trade routes.

History doesn't repeat. But it rhymes.

What happens next:

Trump's press conference at Mar-a-Lago sets the narrative.

US oil companies are already lined up. Politico reported they've been approached about "returning to Venezuela."

The opposition will be installed. Oil will flow in dollars again.

Venezuela becomes another Iraq. Another Libya.

But here's what nobody's asking:

What happens when you can no longer bomb your way to dollar dominance?

When China has enough economic leverage to retaliate?

When BRICS controls 40% of global GDP and says "no more dollars"?

When the world realizes the petrodollar is maintained by violence?

America just showed its hand.

The question is whether the rest of the world folds or calls the bluff.

Because this invasion is an admission that the dollar can no longer compete on its own merits.

When you have to bomb countries to keep them using your currency, the currency is already dying.

Venezuela isn't the beginning.

It's the desperate end.

What do you think?
The dollar stability is key reason why it's used in virtually all international trade
I would never trust the Yuan . Whose value is controlled by the govt.
The Federal Reserve takes no direct order from the President and has a history of independence operation wise.
I'd rather the dollar than the Yuan. Whether it's under Biden or Clinton or Obama I will prefer the dollar.

This tyrant child predator might not be able to walk by march.
He is dying and decaying.

basilico, this man is your moral compass? don't you feel shame yet?
A former McDonald's worker liberated Venezuela.

I had to recall your memory..

The Libyans were happy when Gadaffi was captured.. whats their situation today?

And this goes beyond Venezuelans being happy. The impact of this ulterior move would be far reaching.

This is a movie.. lets watch out to see if the outcome would be different from the other movies we've watched.
The Libyans didn't know that Obama was replacing Gadaffi with jihadists from Al Qaeda and the Islamic State.
Key difference.

Trump has not been able to run the US successfully in a democratic fashion, but Mu-gus like basilico thinks Trump and his DEI cabinet can efficiently restructure Venezuela? grin cheesy

All for Chevron and other US oil companies to extract oil..

Oboy.
My positions on Venezuela are never based on feelings . I have written extensively about the need to stop Chinese influence, how decoupling Venezuela from China is key.
I'm not just reacting ,I've been seeing this play on the works for months ,only that I didn't expect Trump to capture him alive.
The kidnapper of Venezuela was kidnapped.
Tough guy. From grace to grass
