The government has investigated and documented the facts, including public records confirming Omar and Elmi obtained a Hennepin County marriage license on February 12, 2009, and divorced legally in December 2017 (after separating in 2011 per Islamic tradition).

They had the suspect’s name (“COLE CELLPHONE”) by at least April 2021.

NYT initially demanded 1.4 billion chat logs.

Case centres on NYT suing OpenAI that it used it's resources without permission to train it's Large Language Model. NYT alleges that they need to show that user generated responses may have been derived from their databases.
A serious question of privacy laws. Chatgpt should delete chat logs after 30 days but have been ordered to preserve all chats.
