A West Lothian woman passed her driving test while in labour - and then drove herself to hospital to give birth.

Emma French, 20, from Livingston, had four contractions during the test but managed to carry on and pass, reports the Daily Mail. And then she drove herself to St John's Hospital, in Livingston, where she became a mum for the first time. She said: "Everyone was telling me to go to the hospital but I had waited so long for my driving test that I was determined to do it. A security guard, Genesis Anthony and his accomplice, Victor Jegede, on Tuesday jointly bagged five years imprisonment for attempting to poison their employer and steal his money.

Mrs Folake Davies-Abegunde of the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, said that the sentences were without option of fine. In her ruling, the magistrate said that Anthony should spend four years in prison while his accomplice, Jegede should serve a year behind bars. She, however, took into cognizance the one year Jegede had spent in detention and ruled that he had served his sentence by virtue of “the time he stayed in custody“.

She described the crime of the convicts as “wicked and inhuman”. “Both of you are serious threats to the society and since you have failed to convince the court otherwise, you are hereby sentenced accordingly,” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Anthony and Jegede had at their arraignment on August 6, 2010, pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge. The charges included conspiracy, intent to poison another person, threat to life, unlawful damage and escape from lawful custody.

The prosecutor, Sgt Peter Nwangwu, said that the accused committed the offences at No. 1, Abraham Adesanya Estate, Ogombo area of Lagos, when they planned to poison one Aruwaji Adedipe, their employer. Nwangwu told the court that the accused, sometime in August 2010, conspired to eliminate Adedipe by adding to his meal some powdery substance suspected to be poison, with the aid of his housemaid.

“Anthony, having got wind of his boss’ possession of some hard currencies, conspired with Jegede to eliminate him with the help of their housemaid and steal the money. “Unfortunately for them, the housemaid— identified as Mary— refused to cooperate and she reported the matter to the estate’s security personnel. “The two conspirators were then arrested and charged to court. “But while in police custody Jegede destroyed his cell’s burglary proof in an attempt to escape,” the prosecutor said.

Nwangwu had said that their offences contravened Sections 337, 86, 451, 135 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.

Serena Williams went into total lockdown last week -- fleeing to a panic room inside her L.A. mansion after security cameras picked up a suspected intruder ,  but it was all a case of mistaken identity.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Serena's assistant called 911 around 6AM last Wednesday, reporting a possible burglar or prowler. It was so serious, we're told Serena retreated to her panic room for safe keeping in case things got dangerous.
But we're told, it was a false alarm -- the person on Serena's security camera was a random drug tester for an unspecified tennis association, stopping by Serena's pad unannounced for some pee.

Police rushed to the scene after the 911 call, but quickly figured out the mistake. It's unclear if Serena eventually submitted to a pee test. Attempts to reach her reps were unsuccessful.

A toddler born with a rare defect has made an incredible recovery after surgeons were forced to break his skull open and piece it back together. 

Harry Woods was born with craniosynostosis - a condition where the skull plates fuse together before birth. He underwent a gruelling seven-hour operation at Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital shortly before his first birthday where doctors cut open his skull and reshaped it.

Parents, Louise, 32, and Phil, 40, from County Durham, are now delighted that there little one is on the road to recovery. Mrs Woods said: 'Harry was born at South Tyneside District Hospital a very healthy, normal baby boy. 'Unfortunately, after a few follow-up appointments, we were told that the fontanelles on his skull couldn't be located and more checks would be required. 'In November 2010, we were told our son had saggital craniosynostosis, where the top part of his skull had fused together. 'This was causing both his skull and his brain to grow the wrong way.'

Harry was sent to the specialist craniofacial unit at Alder Hey, one of only four in the country, for assessment in January this year. Mrs Woods, an administrator, added: 'We were told an operation was required to open his head, remove the top of the skull, have it broken up and put back together again in a way that would allow the brain to grow normally without any pressure.' 

Harry, now 19-months-old, had the operation in April this year, which his parents describe as the 'longest seven hours of their lives.'

As reported by TMZ, Kris Humphries' family has been crushed by Kim Kardashian's decision to end their marriage -- telling friends, the reality star is making a massive "mistake" for giving up on Kris so soon.

Sources close to Kris' family tell TMZ, everyone knew there was tension in the relationship -- but they never imagined divorce was on the table. As one source put it, "Everyone fights." The Humphries believe Kim is making a huge "mistake" -- insisting she never gave the marriage a fighting chance , and should have tried harder to make things work.

The Police in Asaba on Tuesday arraigned four sisters, Onyeka Ochonogor, 17, Joy Ochonogor, 25, Udoka Ochonogor, 20 and Chinenye Ochonogor, 32 before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court charged with stabbing their neighbour.

The accused persons are facing a three-count charge of assault, damage and attempted murder in the court. The Police Prosecutor, Mr Faith Esenwah, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Oct. 9 at No. 4 Chief Nwobodo Street, Asaba. Esenwah also told the court that the accused persons on the same day and place assaulted one Miss Queen Oliaye by stabbing her with a broken bottle on her left shoulder, causing her body harm.
