The just concluded Anambra state election was the most talked about in the history of Nigeria. There was tension in the air. It saddens my heart to hear that the Adhoc staffs who were mostly Corpers were paid #14,500. For the big risk they took. I personally think that this Corpers, were under paid for the brave steps they took to conduct the election. This corps members deserve more than that.... |

What is racism? prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized. For the sake of brevity, I will like to narrow my point of discussion to racism among Africa, in Nigeria, South East to be precise. I happen to have travel to different eastern states in the country. And there is something that usually baffled me, about the discrimination of people from Ebonyi State. It All Started when I was serving in Anambra, there is this unkempt woman that use to sell yam beside the road. People use to make jest of her calling her "Abakalaki woman" this name means so many things in south east here. It either you are dirty, behaving foolish etc. One day I went to my closet, I asked myself if we can hate our closest neighbor as much. What of our far away neighbor? "The Moment We begin To Value ourselves, Automatically People Will Begin To Value Us" |

Scene 1 In the wee hour of the night, Odili is seen using his hand to roughly pave way for himself, Odili panting and gasping for breath ODILI: (panting) The only way I can successfully deliver this mission is to summon the spirit of (Akadim) to be my wings. (Suddenly enters a group of warriors who sorround Odili, and held him captive) Scene 2. The scene opens where Odili is brought to the one eye-god. The palace is adorn with remnants of skull, some being that of wild animals and that of human beings. He instructed the warriors to bring Odili closer ONE-EYE GOD  breathing in/out smoke) You are the chosen one, but you will never make it out of this forest alive. (He uses his disfigured finger to prick Odili in the head. He weirdly smells Odili, and spat out saliva. He furiously, commands his bodyguard to take Odili to the wooden cage on the tree.ODILI: (sweating profusely) Let me go, or you will feel the wrath of Ochanya. ( The warriors throws a hook which caught Odili in his collar bone, he is been roughly dragged into the wooden cage with blood boozing all over his body. They Exeunt Scene 3 The KING and his cabinet are seen. The atmosphere in this scene is a mixture of sadness and tension. KING: (tense) It is said that "When a lizard stays in the bush too long, it will change to an alligator...(he paused and stirs blankly into space...(clears throat) our ancestors have decided to give us a deaf ears...a stranger which we welcomed as turn around to betray us and defile our land.....( He sinks back to his throne worried).... ELDER 1: our people are always known for their kindness and largess...(cut in) ELDER 2: And this our kindness? What good has it brought to our people?.... nothing but calamities and chaos... other neighbouring communities see us as soft and weak...(cut in) ELDER 3: Soft and weak you say? (facing ELDER 2) They say excreta does not have bones in it, but if someone steps on it he/she will surely jump....I will put it to you that "we are not weak and soft"...... ELDER 2: (bowing to the Igwe) our King may you live long, and grow with wisdom and understanding.... Igwe when the rhythm of the drum changes the dance steps also changes. I think we should take this matter at hand not lying down. KING: I agree with your submission but, what is an hunter without his guns and bows?...I have sent some groups of warriors to go to the hills of light...(ELDERS shocked)....I know that some of us here will be against that...but since the father of the house has refuses to protect his own, one must look elsewhere for protection. ELDER 4: May you live long... The decision is not a bad one...but the implications attached is what we are afraid of...We all know that the gods of light in the hills are neutral gods...they will give you free and infused hidden charges to it.... ELDER 2: Is better to take a step rather than not taking it...we must consult the gods of light on the hills as the king said in order to avert the looming calamities that is about to befall this land. KING: We should all know that we are responsible for our actions and outcome...(he calls his Sacred priest and the priest gives each ELDERS a dagger to bite. They all took the Oath. (Exeunts) To be Continue.... |

I'm a Corper presently serving at Anambra state, Idemili South. I want to share my hilarious experience at Nnobi Market with a woman selling banana. Almost all my life was in Abuja, gwagwalada to be precise.(lol) In Abuja, gwagwalada things are a bit cheaper compare to here in Anambra state. Here is my hilarious story: Every Thursday is always our c.d.s, we do go to the local government for the exercise. After coming back I and my friend will alight at this Nnobi Market, which is the biggest market that is close to my place of primary assignment to buy foodstuffs and the rest. There is this woman that sells banana, plantain and groundnut along the road. It was my friend that first told me about this, I decided to go see myself. How much is banana? I asked the woman selling she said is #1,500 Haba mma, sell am for me #800 na.. I begged, before I knew the woman just left me standing there. My friend pinch me signifying we should go. He told me to go home and remove this khaki I'm putting on and come back to price the banana. I did as instructed, priced the same banana that the woman told me #2,000.. Nno, the woman greeted me in Igbo. Ma'am I want buy banana I said in pidgin English. This, she pointed to the previous banana she told me #2,000 as #1,000 I was shocked, me not wanting to just pay at the mentioning of price. I told her that I will pay #800. To cut the long story short. The banana that I was told #2,000 with Corper khaki, I later bought it on muffty #800. If you are Corper, I beg you in the name of God, before going to the market, remove anything that will identify you as a Corper. If not all these market people will use"Corper wee, federal government pikin, take extract the little allawee wey no dey reach one week for your hand. I also noticed here in Nnobi market, Anambra state here, everybody has their own prices, you can price painter of rice in this shop #2,200 in the next shop is #2,500. Nobody will advise you to go to the place your were told #2,200. If you get permanent customer here, you don enter one chance. Dey go dey bill you steady Okada men here, na big men oo...unlike for Abuja, gwagwalada where I come from  . You can negotiate price with okada men. For here in Anambra state, na you go dey beg okada men, every okada man will be like "you carry change for there" upon the big money wey dey bill you.In summary: Anambra state will broaden your horizon your business mentality will be activated and resurrected. 2 Likes |
