Mrs. Cecilia Ibru, the former managing director of Oceanic Bank PLC has bagged a six month jail term. She is also to forfeit over N150 billion in assets and cash. The former bank chief was convicted of bank and securities fraud today and the sentence was pronounced by Justice Dan Abutu of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi. Sources from the court disclosed to Street Journal that Mrs Ibru was brought into the court very sick. The conviction is coming as a result of a plea bargain deal Mrs Ibru had struck with the prosecution due to her inability to face the rigours of full trial as a result of her deteriorating health. Street Journal also gathered that the prosecution team had amended Ibru’s charges to three counts which she pleaded quilty to and was subsequently convicted. The defence team was led by Prof Osopitan, Akoni and Mrs Orakwusi and the amendment was based on the plea bargain Mrs. Ibru agreed to. . Street Journal gathered that the list of the assets forfeited by Mrs. Ibru include 1. Good Shepherd House, IPM Avenue, opposite Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos (registered in the name of Ogekpo Estate Managers) 2. Residential block with 19 apartments on 34, Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi (registered in the name of Dilivent International Limited). 3. 20 Oyinkan Abayomi Street, Victoria Island (remainder of lease or tenancy up to 2017). 4. 57 Bourdillon Road , Ikoyi. 5. 5A George Street, Ikoyi, (registered in the name of Michaelangelo Properties Limited), 6. 5B George Street, Ikoyi, (registered in the name of Michaelangelo Properties Limited). 7. 4A Iru Close, Ikoyi, (registered in the name of Michaelangelo Properties Limited). 8. 4B Iru Close, Ikoyi, (registered in the name of Michaelangelo Properties Limited). 9. 16 Glover Road, Ikoyi (registered in the name of Michaelangelo Properties Limited). 10. 35 Cooper Road, Ikoyi, (registered in the name of Michaelangelo Properties Limited). 11.
